Abstract:The nonlinear wavelet-morphological wavelet is introduced into the field of vibration signal processing to explore methods that can process effectively both Gauss noise and non-Gauss noise based on the routine of bi-spectrum analysis. Morphological wavelet packet was developed and its analysis and synthesis steps were described,to perfect the morphological wavelet theory. On the basis of excellent de-noising effects of morphological wavelet packet,three kinds of cascaded algorithms were put forward based on the morphological wavelet packet,Hilbert envelope analysis and bi-spectrum analysis,that is morphological wavelet packet-bi-spectrum,morphological wavelet packet-Hilbert-bi-spectrum and Hilbert-morphological wavelet packet-bi-spectrum.These three algorithms showed good inhibition for Gauss noise and non-Gauss noise. Hilbert-morphological wavelet packet-bi-spectrum algorithm especially unfolds best adaptability. Results in rolling bearing signal processing show that Hilbert-morphological wavelet packet-bi-spectrum algorithm can tell bearing fault of different components and different fault degree from each other clearly.

Abstract:Based on primary theory of wavelet packet transformation, the signal of rolling bearing fault was processed, The signal characteristic can be effective withdrawn from the actual signal after wavelet packet decomposition and restructuring, Then, using Fourier transform, it presents an approach to get the frequency of fault signal. The experimental result proves that, the wavelet packet analysis can adaptively choose the related frequency band according to the analyzed signal characteristic. The practice example shows that this method is effective. The research results provide the theoretical foundation for rotary machine fault diagnosis, and have important practical value.

Abstract:A novel method for bearing fault detection through the sound signal translated from the vibration signal is introduced. The wavelet packet transform is used to preprocess the signal, then the computed wavelet coefficients are divided into clusters accordingly, important frequency ranges have a larger number of clusters than less important frequency ranges. These clusters extract the time-frequency information to get the fault characteristic of the bearing. In order to identify the fault, the method based on rough set theory is adopted. The result from experience proves that fault types can be identified and diagnosed by the above method. Furthermore, it attains nearly the same accuracy, compared with artificial neural network.

Abstract:In accordance with the defects of traditional envelope analysis to specify the resonant frequency band manually,the anthors introduce a wavelet envelope analysis method on basis of Gauss function. This method possesses a powerful property to extract the modulated frequency of resonant frequency band overall. A new scheme to select the optimum scale to monitor the condition of rolling bearings according to entropy of envelope spectrum is also proposed. Practical example shows that this method can be used to inspect accurately the defects of outer race, inner race and rolling elements in rolling bearings.

Abstract:Vibration analysis is widely used in the condition monitoring and fault detection of the rolling elernent bearings.When locally scathed,the bearings would bump the other parts periodically with the result that the seasonal impulses come into being.With enough broad band to overcast each connatural frequency of the whole bearings,the impulses necessarily arose each connatural vibrations and thereby the stationary vibrations turn into transients.Although well localized in frequency,the Fourier transform was localized none too well in time which makes it a cumbersome tool for transients.Moreover,a local time-frequency composition as the windowed Fourier transform,the short-time Fourier transform namely,it has the same resolution across the time-frequency plane because of the same spread of the window on which the resolution depends.If using conventional method for the vibration signal analysis,the non-stationary signals are hard to analyze.This paper investigates rolling bearings fault diagnosis based on wavelet analysis method,and the surface damnification fault signals are diagnosed by using the frequency domain analysis method of wavelet package decomposition.Experimental results show that the analysis methods of wavelet transform are reliable and accurate.They are useful for the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis to aero-engine rolling bearings.

Abstract:The paper analyzes and compares two forms of wavelet transformation: discrete (DWT) and continuous (CWT) combined with machine learning in the analysis of the bearing failure. It presents the automatic system to detect the anomaly in the rolling bearing based on wavelet analysis of vibration waveforms combined with the set of classical and deep classifiers. The wavelet transformation is used in the stage of pre-processing of the signal for generating the input attributes in the final classification system. The considered structures of the classifiers include 6 classical machine learning tools integrated into an ensemble and a combination of a few deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to develop the most accurate diagnostics of the bearing. The calculations have been done in Python and Matlab. The results of both approaches DWT and CWT are discussed and compared. They show the high effectiveness of the approach based on the cooperation of wavelet transform and machine learning methods.

Abstract:Periodic impulses characterize the vibration of rolling element bearings with localized defect Wavelet time-frequency.frame decomposition can best match the characteristic structures of a signal globally,and extract the time-frequency information directly.It is employed to analyze the vibration signals of both normal and faulty rolling element bearings with single point defect in rolling element,inner race and outer race.In order to extract the transient features of rolling element bearing vibration,especially the periodic impulses,wavelet time-frequency frames are designed.By means of the frame decomposition,the periodic impulses are extracted in joint time-frequency domain,and the single point defects are identified accordingly.From the comparison with continuous wavelet transformation based on basis expansion,it is found that the frame decomposition is effective in simultaneously extracting the impulses,harmonics and other transient phenomena of rolling element bearing vibration signals,and is feasible in identifying the localized defects of rolling element bearings.

Abstract:This paper proposes a wavelet-based statistical signal detection approach for monitoring and diagnosis of bearing compound faults at an early stage. The bearing vibration signal is decomposed by an orthonormal discrete wavelet transform to obtain its energy dispersions at multiple levels. We investigate the statistical properties of the decomposed signal energy under both the normal and faulty conditions, based on which a generalized likelihood ratio test is developed. An exponentially weighted moving average control chart is then constructed to detect faults at an early stage. Simulation studies and a real case study are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Furthermore, the comparison studies show that the proposed method outperforms the empirical mode decomposition method and Hilbert envelope spectrum analysis method.

Abstract:In order to supply a gap of current resonance vibration and STFT demodulation method applied to rolling bearing fault feature extraction of city rail vehicle, a fault diagnosis method for rolling bearing is presented, which is based on the integration of improved wavelet packet, frequency energy analysis and Hilbert marginal spectrum. When faults occur in rolling bearing, the energy of the rolling bearing vibration signal would change correspondingly, while the Hilbert energy spectrum can exactly provide the energy distribution of the signal in certain frequency with the change of the time and frequency. Thus, the fault information of the rolling bearing can be extracted effectively from the improved wavelet packet and Hilbert energy spectrum. The experimental result proves that the fault characteristic extracted by improved wavelet packet and Hilbert transform is in accord with the one analyzed from theory, and the fault feature extraction method is effective. The research results provide the theoretical foundation for the extraction of fault feature in rotary machine and have important practical value.

Abstract:When early faults occur, the background noise is heavy, it is difficult to extract the latent periodic components successfully using second order cyclostationary analysis alone. Here, the cyclostationarity analysis is combined with wavelet filtering for detection of rolling element bearing early faults. Using the proposed entropy minimization rule, the parameters of the wavelet filter are optimized. This method is shown to be effective in detecting rolling element bearing early faults by experimental results.

Abstract:In this paper, we attempted to classify the acceleration signals of different working states of bearings by using the wavelet-based fractal analysis. Considering the similarity of the power spectrums between bearing vibration signals and 1/f processes signals, the principles of wavelet-based fractal analysis for bearing fault diagnosis are explored. To verify the feasibility and practicability of the presented method, experiments were carried out. Vibration signals from the bearings of different working conditions were gathered by acceleration sensors. After pre-treatment, the acceleration signals on both vertical and horizontal direction were decomposed to ten detailed signals at different wavelet scales by using the discrete wavelet transform. The variances of detailed signals at scales 2 to 8 were calculated and then fractal features of the acceleration signals were estimated from the slope of the variance progression. The fractal dimensions were significantly different among the different working conditions of the bearings and showed a high reproducibility. The results suggest that the wavelet-based fractal analysis is effective for classifying the working conditions of bearings. Moreover, the results of repeated trials demonstrate that the fractal dimensions generated by wavelet-based fractal analysis are stable and accurate in practice.

Abstract:Rolling bearings, as important machinery components, strongly affect the operation of machines. Early bearing fault diagnosis methods commonly take time-frequency analysis as the fundamental basis, therein searching for characteristic fault frequencies based on bearing kinematics to identify fault locations. However, due to mode mixing, the characteristic frequencies are usually masked by normal frequencies and thus are difficult to extract. After time-frequency decomposition, the impact signal frequency can be distributed among multiple separation functions according to the mode mixing caused by the impact signal; therefore, it is possible to search for the shared frequency peak value in these separation functions to diagnose bearing faults. Using the wavelet transform, time-frequency analysis and blind source separation theory, this article presents a new method of determining shared frequencies, followed by identifying the faulty parts of bearings. Compared to fast independent component analysis, the sparse component analysis was better able to extract fault characteristics. The numerical simulation and the practical application test in this article obtained satisfactory results when combining the wavelet transform, intrinsic time-scale decomposition and linear clustering sparse component analysis, thereby proving the validity of this method.

Abstract:As a kind of complicated mechanical component, rolling element bearing plays a significant role in rotating machines, and bearing fault detection benefits decision-making of maintenance and avoids undesired downtime cost. However, extraction of fault signatures from a collected signal in a practical working environment is always a great challenge. This paper proposes an improved combination of the Hilbert and wavelet transforms to identify early bearing fault signatures. Real rail vehicle bearing and motor bearing data were used to validate the proposed method. A traditional combination of Hilbert and wavelet transforms was employed for comparison purpose. An indicator to evaluate fault detection capability of methods was developed in this research. Analysis results showed that the extraction capability of bearing fault signatures is greatly enhanced by the proposed method.

Abstract:Signals generated by transient vibrations in rolling bearings due to structural defects are non-stationary in nature, and reflect upon the operation condition of the bearing. Consequently, effective processing of non-stationary signals is critical to bearing health monitoring. This paper presents a comparative study of four representative time-frequency analysis techniques commonly employed for non-stationary signal processing. The analytical framework of the short-time Fourier transform, wavelet transform, wavelet packet transform, and Hilbert-Huang transform are first presented. The effectiveness of each technique in detecting transient features from a time-varying signal is then examined, using an analytically formulated test signal. Subsequently, the performance of each technique is experimentally evaluated, using realistic vibration signals measured from a bearing test system. The results demonstrate that selecting appropriate signal processing technique can significantly affect defect identification and consequently, improve the reliability of bearing health monitoring.

Abstract:Defect faults on the surface of rolling bearing elements are the most frequent cause of malfunctions and breakages of electrical machines. Due to increasing demands for quality and reliability, extracting fault features in vibration signals is an important topic for fault detection in rolling bearings. In this paper, a novel adaptive lifting multiwavelet packet with 112?> dimension spectrum to detect defects in rolling bearing elements is developed. The adaptive lifting multiwavelet packet is constructed to match vibration signal properties based on the minimum singular value decomposition (SVD) entropy using a genetic algorithm. A 112?> dimension spectrum is further employed to extract rolling bearing fault characteristic frequencies from background noise. The proposed method is applied to analyze the vibration signal collected from electric locomotive rolling bearings with outer raceway and inner raceway defects. The experimental investigation shows that the method is accurate and robust in rolling bearing fault detection.

Abstract:Measurement and Control, Ahead of Print. The bearing is the core component of the gearbox transmission system. Once it is damaged during operation, it will cause the shutdown of the mechanical equipment for maintenance. It has important application significance to carry out fault detection and remaining useful life (RUL) prediction. Whereas, some bottlenecks, such as the noise interference of state characteristics, the excessive dependence of supervised learning on prior samples, and the practical RUL online calculation, restrict the industrial application of RUL prediction for rotating machinery equipment. To overcome the above problems, this paper introduces the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to decrease the noise of the vibration acceleration signal obtained, and then uses the sliding average method to weaken the transient excitation. To make the state characteristics of the monitored bearing trendy, linear, and monotonic, this paper proposes a new set of state interpret indicators: energy and cumulative summation feature (CSF) to reflect the bearing health status. Based on the available bearing health information, the fault boundary threshold is established through the 3[math] criteria, which serves as the basis for first predicting time (FPT) detection. Once the FPT point is determined, this paper applies CSF to replace the original vibration acceleration amplitude as the degradation indicator, which has better linearity and monotonicity than amplitude-based indicators, and which is conducive to the implementation of simple structure curve fitting to carry out the overall RUL prediction. Comparing with existing methods, such as relevance vector machine (RVM), deep belief network (DBN), and particle filtering (PF)-based methods, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has the best RUL prediction efficiency and the fastest convergence.

Abstract:For rolling bearing fault, there is a certain mapping relationship between failure state and its each frequency band energy and distribution, this paper proposes a bearing fault diagnosis method based on wavelet packet decompotion energy distribution and gray similar correlation degree. Introducing a concept of soft morphological filtering, combined the EMD method on the original vibration signal denoising pretreatment. Decomposing bearing vibration acceleration signal after noise reduction into different frequency band signal by adopting the method of wavelet packet decomposition and calculating the energy distribution. Due to the gray similar correlation degree analysis for the classification of the small sample pattern recognition has a good effect, element structure characteristic vector by energy distribution, to judge the fault types by calculating the bearing vibration signal under different status similar correlation degree. Experimental results show that, the proposed can be effectively applied to bearing fault diagnosis.

Abstract:In industrial settings, analyzing vibration signals from rolling bearings is a key method for diagnosing faults in rotating machinery. However, these faults often appear as a series of transient events with quickly changing frequencies, which makes it difficult for traditional time-frequency analysis techniques to accurately capture these characteristics. Methods like synchrosqueezing transmute and multi-synchrosqueezing transmute struggle with this task. In this study, we introduce a new method called the Wavelet-Enhanced Transient-Extracting Transform (WTET). Unlike traditional approaches that rely on instantaneous frequency in a time-domain model, WTET uses a group delay (GD) estimator in a frequency-domain model. This allows for more accurate characterization of bearing and rub impact fault signals. Additionally, WTET is better at resisting noise compared to the traditional wavelet transform because it isolates only the central coefficients in the time-frequency domain. WTET also retains the ability to reconstruct the original signal, which makes it effective at extracting different signal modes. Our analysis shows that WTET offers improved diagnostic capability for detecting bearing faults.
