Abstract:We present an effective approach for identifying the rule base, the weight of each proposition and the certainty factor of each rule in the fuzzy weighted classification system. Here we use the idea of Fuzzy Naive Bayes, and assume variables in antecedents are conditional independent given corresponding consequents. So the weight of each proposition in the antecedent can be computed out via the conditional probability of the corresponding consequent given this proposition in the antecedent, and the certainty factor of each rule can also be computed out via the conditional probability of the consequent in this rule given the corresponding antecedent. The final rule base consists of all fuzzy rules whose certainty factors are large enough. Using this approach we can get a concise and consistent fuzzy system. Before computing all kinds of weights according to the proposed method, an optimal fuzzy partition is achieved by using fuzzy clustering, for instance, fuzzy c-means or similar cluster method. Finally we evaluate our identification method using Fisher iris data and Diabetes data, the tests show that a high recognition rate can be achieved.

Abstract:In order to realize intelligent robot's autonomous recognition for parts ,parameters of fuzzy fusion are optimized by genetic algorithms,and multisensor data are fuzzily fused in dicision level. Simulation test results show that this method may reduce the uncertainty of individual sensor data and enhance systems,capacities of discernment to targets.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model identification method by combining fuzzy c-regression model clustering (FCRM), least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) and intelligent optimization algorithm. Firstly, in order to improve the performance of FCRM for the complex nonlinear dataset, in this paper the method of FCRM based on LSSVM (FCRM-LSSVM) is proposed to discover the data structure and obtain the antecedent parameters. And then, a newly developed intelligent optimization algorithm by hybridizing Harris hawks optimization and moth-flame optimization algorithm (IHHOMFO) is proposed to further optimize the antecedent membership function parameters obtained by the FCRM-LSSVM. Finally, the proposed novel T-S fuzzy model identification combines FCRM, LSSVM and IHHOMFO for solving actual model identification problems. Experiments on five different datasets demonstrate that the proposed method is more efficient than conventional methods, such as T-S model identification based on fuzzy c-means (FCM), FCRM and FCRM-LSSVM, in standard measurement indexes. This study thus demonstrates that the proposed method is a credible and competitive fuzzy model identification method. The novel method contributes not only to the theoretical aspects of fuzzy model, but is also widely applicable in data mining, image recognition and prediction problems.

Abstract:The aim of this article is to investigate the identification of complex systems. In the framework of AFS (Axiomatic Fuzzy Sets) theory, first we study how to impersonally and automatically determine the membership functions for fuzzy sets according to original data and facts, and a new algorithmic framework of determining membership functions and their logic operations for fuzzy sets has been proposed. Then we apply the proposed algorithmic framework to study the descriptions of systems according to the sample data with noise. An example shows that this approach offers a far more flexible and effective means for the intelligent systems in real-world applications. Compared with popular T-S fuzzy identification in which the membership functions are given by expert experiences and intuition, this fuzzy identification is more robust, objective and practical.

Abstract:In this paper, an immune inspired multi-objective fuzzy modeling (IMOFM) mechanism is proposed specifically for high-dimensional regression problems. For such problems, prediction accuracy is often the paramount requirement. With such a requirement in mind, however, one should also put considerable efforts in eliciting models which are as transparent as possible, a 'tricky' exercise in itself. The proposed mechanism adopts a multi-stage modeling procedure and a variable length coding scheme to account for the enlarged search space due to simultaneous optimisation of the rule-base structure and its associated parameters. We claim here that IMOFM can account for both Singleton and Mamdani Fuzzy Rule-Based Systems (FRBS) due to the carefully chosen output membership functions, the inference scheme and the defuzzification method. The proposed modeling approach has been compared to other representatives using a benchmark problem, and was further applied to a high-dimensional problem, taken from the steel industry, which concerns the prediction of mechanical properties of hot rolled steels. Results confirm that IMOFM is capable of eliciting not only accurate but also transparent FRBSs from quantitative data.

Abstract:A new method of fuzzy identification based on T-S model is presented. Sample interval and linearizable degree are specially considered. To improve the precision of identification, parameters of premise and conclusion of each fuzzy rule are identified together. Moreover, adaptive structure identification is implemented according to conception of credence of the rule. The identifier is applied to the fuzzy identification for a class of nonlinear systems, and the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed identification methods.

Abstract:Fuzzy techniques are playing an increasing role in current intelligent computations and optimizations. How to reasonably describe and measure uncertain information has been becoming urgent in many practical domains such as artificial intelligence, computer techniques, optimizations and control in complex manufacturing systems. After analyzing the essence of fuzziness measures, this paper proposes the concept of fuzziness-synthesizing operator, and then obtains a general model for fuzziness measure with existing fuzziness measures as its special cases, by compounding the fuzziness-synthesizing operator and the fuzziness feature function. This helps us to find methods measuring fuzziness under distinct decision consciousness.
Improved Fuzzy Identification Method Based on Hough Transformation and Fuzzy Clustering

Abstract:This paper presents an approach that is useful for the identification of a fuzzy model in SISO system. The initial values of cluster centers are identified by the Hough transformation, which considers the linearity and continuity of given input-output data, respectively. For the premise parts parameters identification, we use fuzzy-C-means clustering method. The consequent parameters are identified based on recursive least square. This method not only makes approximation more accurate, but also let computation be simpler and the procedure is realized more easily. Finally, it is shown that this method is useful for the identification of a fuzzy model by simulation.

Abstract:The fuzzy model proposed by Takagi and Sugeno can represent highly nonlinear systems and is widely used for the representation of fuzzy rules. In this paper, the model is firstly modified to make its identification easier. Based on the fuzzy c-partition space, four criteria are proposed for optimization of the model parameters. Following that, a clustering algorithm composed of fuzzy c-linear functions clustering and like fuzzy c-means clustering is developed for minimizing the four criteria. An identification scheme for rule's premise and consequence parameters is deduced from the clustering algorithm in succession. Finally, four examples are demonstrated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

A T-S Model Identification Method Based On Harmony Search Algorithm

Abstract:The conventional T-S fuzzy model identification methods, such as the fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm and least-squares method, usually fail to find the optimal solutions, because they determine the consequent parameters based on only one certain group of the premise parameters. That is to say, these techniques are usually trapped into the local optima in the multidimensional parameter space. In the present paper, a new hybrid identification algorithm(HIA) is introduced to overcome the above drawback. Our method can simultaneously optimize the premise and consequent parameters by merging the harmony search algorithm(HS), FCM algorithm and least-squares method together. This hybrid approach also has the remarkable feature of error feedback mechanism. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed optimization algorithm can effectively escape from the local optima, and yield a superior performance over the regular parameter identification methods.

Abstract:A novel fuzzy identification approach of complex systems is proposed based on an updated version of pi-sigma neural network. By taking advantage of the learning and nonlinear mapping abilities of the neural networks, the proposed method has the following characteristics. The consequence function of each fuzzy rule can be a nonlinear function, which makes it capable to deal with the nonlinear sytems more efficiently. Each parameter of the consequence functions is convenient to be adjusted on-line so that automatic rule modification can be realized. The membership function of each fuzzy subset can be modified easily on-line. In this way, the cumbersome task to form fuzzy rules from a set of given data and to prescribe an appropriate membership function for each premise variable can be avoided. Examples of fuzzy modelling in weather forecast, burden optimization and fuzzy control system design show that our algorithm is effective in quite wide fields. We also apply our scheme to the decoupling control of a rigid robot manipulator. With the help of the self-organizing fuzzy mechanism, the controller acquires a satisfying performance under large parameter uncertainties.

Abstract:The traditional modeling methods are hard to identify the nonlinear system like in-well environment simulation system which is multivariable, stochastic, strong coupling and large time delay. Thus, it is difficult to express complex system and implement the whole optimal control accurately. This paper proposes a kind of fuzzy identification method based on improved clustering algorithm in connection with the traditional fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm's defects which are sensitive to the initial value and unable to definite the optimum rule numbers. The method determines initial clustering centers by the subtractive clustering and the validity function, then finds the final clustering centers by the global fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm. Subsequently the suitable area radius by the principle of nearest neighbor is formulated. The system T-S model by weighted recursive least-square method is built finally. In this paper, the temperature model of in-well environment simulation system is proposed to illustrate the method accurate and effective.

Abstract:Feature subset selection has become an important challenge in areas of pattern recognition, machine learning and data mining. As different semantics are hidden in numerical and categorical features, there are two strategies for selecting hybrid attributes: discretizing numerical variables or numericalize categorical features. In this paper, we introduce a simple and efficient hybrid attribute reduction algorithm based on a generalized fuzzy-rough model. A theoretic framework of fuzzy-rough model based on fuzzy relations is presented, which underlies a foundation for algorithm construction. We derive several attribute significance measures based on the proposed fuzzy-rough model and construct a forward greedy algorithm for hybrid attribute reduction. The experiments show that the technique of variable precision fuzzy inclusion in computing decision positive region can get the optimal classification performance. Number of the selected features is the least but accuracy is the best.

Abstract:A new fuzzy identification algorithm is proposed in this paper, which include five blocks: input variables partition block, fast-cluster block, genetic algorithm block, tuning block and termination block. Fast-cluster block is to identify antecedent parameters of T-S model speedily. Tuning block is to fine tune the parameters of T-S model using the gradient descent approach and termination block checks if the result is satisfactory. The proposed algorithm not only has the advantage of simplicity, but also has high accuracy, strong automation. The simulations indicate that the algorithm is effective in constructing T-S model for complex nonlinear systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we study and improve the fuzzy clustering index and clustering algorithm proposed by X. Liu et. al. in IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, Cybernetics, 2005, and also study the fuzzy clustering problems by the order relation descriptions of the objects on each attribute, instead of the real number descriptions. The new fuzzy clustering algorithm has two main advantages: One is that it can mimic the human reasoning processes and ofier an interpretable clustering algorithm which is represented by some fuzzy sets with deflnite semantic interpretations. Another is the data types of the attributes can be various types or sub-preference relations, even descriptions of human intuitions. Finally, the well known real-world iris data set is used to illustrate accuracy of the new clustering algorithm. A number of illustrative examples show that this approach ofiers a far more ∞exible and efiective means for the intelligent systems in real-world applications.
Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation Model Based On The Knowledge System

Abstract:Fuzzy measure, as a non-additive metric, is an effective tool for information fusion. Constructing a determining mechanism for fuzzy measure with operability is the key focus in academic and application fields. In this paper, we first take core samples as knowledge carriers on the decision information system. According to changes of knowledge carriers, we second give a knowledge-based metric of attributes importance. Third, combining with Choquet fuzzy integral, we establish a fuzzy synthetic evaluation model (denoted as BIS-FSEM) to deal with correlation indexes. And finally, we analyze the effectiveness of BIS-FSEM and give its implementation steps through a teaching quality evaluation case. Theoretical analysis and computation results show that BIS-FSEM has good operability and interpretability. It enriches the existing data-based metric theories of attributes importance to some extent. So it can be applied in many fields such as information fusion, synthetic evaluation and fuzzy decision-making.

Abstract:Though fuzzy set theory has been a very popular technique to represent vagueness between sets and their elements, the approximation of a subset in a universe that contains finite objects was still not resolved until the Pawlak’s rough set theory was introduced. The concept of rough sets was introduced by Pawlak in 1982 as a formal tool for modeling and processing incomplete information in information systems. Rough sets describe the approximation of an arbitrary subset of a universe by two definable or observable subsets called lower and upper approximations. Even though Pawlak’s rough set theory has been widely applied to solve many real world problems, the problem of being not able to deal with real attribute values had been spotted and found. This problem is originated in the crispness of upper and lower approximation sets in traditional rough set theory (TRS). Under the TRS philosophy, two nearly identical real attribute values are unreasonably treated as two different values. TRS theory deals with this problem by discretizing the original dataset, which may result in unacceptable information loss for a large amount of applications. To solve the above problem, a natural way of combining fuzzy sets and rough sets has been proposed. Since 1990’s, researchers had put a lot of efforts on this area and two fuzzy rough set techniques that hybridize fuzzy and rough sets had been proposed to extend the capabilities of both fuzzy sets and rough sets. This chapter does not intend to cover all fuzzy rough set theories. Rather, it firstly gives a brief introduction of the state of the art in this research area and then goes into details to discuss two kinds of well developed hybridization approaches, i.e., constructive and axiomatic approaches. The generalization for equivalence relationships, the definitions of lower and upper approximation sets and the attribute reduction techniques based on these two hybridization frameworks are introduced in different sections. After that, to help readers apply the fuzzy rough set techniques, this chapter also introduces some applications that have successfully applied fuzzy rough set techniques. The final section of this chapter gives some remarks on the merits and problems of each fuzzy rough hybridization technique and the possible research directions in the future.

Abstract:Extensive research has been performed for developing knowledge based intelligent monitoring systems for improving the reliability of manufacturing processes. Due to the high expense of obtaining knowledge from human experts, it is expected to develop new techniques to obtain the knowledge automatically from the collected data using data mining techniques. Inductive learning has become one of the widely used data mining methods for generating decision rules from data. In order to deal with the noise or uncertainties existing in the data collected in industrial processes and systems, this paper presents a new method using fuzzy logic techniques to improve the performance of the classical inductive learning approach. The proposed approach, in contrast to classical inductive learning method using hard cut point to discretize the continuous-valued attributes, uses soft discretization to enable the systems have less sensitivity to the uncertainties and noise. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been illustrated in an application of monitoring the machining conditions in uncertain environment. Experimental results show that this new fuzzy inductive learning method gives improved accuracy compared with using classical inductive learning techniques.
