The fuzzy reasoning system uses genetic algorithms to adjust weights of all reasoning rules synthetically. Abstract:Genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to modeling fuzzy systems.After analyzing the basic principles of genetic algorithms, modified measures are proposed. The inheritance and aberrance of genetic algorithms in fuzzy systems are emphatically discussed. Thus a method with strong evolving ability to automatically produce fuzzy rules is presented. It is a new way for intelligent systems to acquire fuzzy rules. The experiments show that it is practicable in application.

Abstract:Fuzzy numbers are most commonly used in tackling optimization problems in many practical domains. Rationally ranking fuzzy information becomes the basis for solving uncertainty optimization problems. Due to the credibility is not embodied by the order relation derived by level cut intervals or the order relation determined by centralized quantifying, so it is difficult to use them to rank fuzzy information under certain consciousness for fuzzy rules. In view of this, we introduce the concept of location values of fuzzy numbers with rule pools, and then develop a new way of ranking fuzzy numbers. Moreover, we give further descriptions for the location values by using coincidence degrees of fuzzy numbers with rule pools, and present the technique of composite quantification for fuzzy information. Furthermore, we establish a numerical model for computing location values and coincidence degrees. Finally, by using the location values and coincidence degrees of fuzzy numbers with rules, we propose a fuzzy genetic algorithm based on rules (BR-FGA), and then illustrate it by using two examples.

Abstract:This paper proposes a hybrid genetic algorithm (GA) based on anadaptive fuzzy-neural network with varying nodes. This algorithm simultaneously designs membership functions and rule sets using GA with hybrid coding scheme and the corresponding consequent parameters are estimated using least square estimation. The hybrid GA combines the advantages of GA's strong search capacity and conventional optimization technologies's fast convergence and accuracy merits. Therefore, the algorithm achieves a trade-off between accuracy, reliability and computing time in global optimization. The application demonstrates its effectiveness.

Abstract:This paper proposes a hierarchical hybrid genetic algorithm (GA) based on an adaptive fuzzy-neural network with varying nodes. Abstract:Ranking fuzzy information has been becoming the key issue in solving uncertainty optimization problems. Credibility being not embodied, it becomes powerless for both the order relation based on level cuts and the order relation determined by centralized quantification to play their key part in ranking fuzzy information under certain consciousness. In this paper, we introduce the concept of location values of fuzzy numbers with a rule pool and develop a new way to rank fuzzy numbers. Moreover, we present a numerical model for computing location values and coincidence degrees. Fuzzy rule based genetic algorithm and its application in FMS

Abstract:Most of the FMS (flexible manufacturing systems) problems belong to NP-hard (non-polynomial hard) problems. The facility layout problem and job-shop schedule problem are such examples. GA (genetic algorithm) is applied to get an optimal solution. However, traditional GAs are usually of low efficiency because of their early convergence. In order to overcome the shortcoming of the GA a fuzzy rule based GA is proposed, in which a fuzzy logical controller is introduced to adjust the value of crossover probability, mutation probability and crossover length. The HGA (hybrid genetic algorithm), which is integrated with a fuzzy logic controller, can avoid premature convergence, and improve the efficiency greatly. Finally, simulation results of the facility layout problem and job-shop schedule problem are given. The results show that the new genetic algorithm integrated with fuzzy logic controller is excellent in searching efficiency.

Abstract:Image interpretation is an important part of computer vision, which is related to many fields such as image processing, classifier designing and logic reasoning. In this paper, genetic searching based two directional reasoning is discussed. The algorithm consists of two steps. At first, the fuzzy memberships of classification is obtained by fuzzy classifier based on the statistic/geometric features of segmented regions, and a fuzzy graph used for effectively representing interpretation information is constructed through prior rule base concerning about spatial relations that is acquired from statistics or experience. At second, genetic searching algorithm is used to combine the above two types of information, and the optimistic interpretation is achieved. In order to decrease the computational cost and increase the possibility of getting optimal solution, a new crossover operator of genetic searching is proposed that is based on non random graph partition. The experiments show that genetic searching based fuzzy image interpretation is powerful for the regions that include one or more objects. This method is an improvement over the one directional reasoning method based image interpretation such as probabilistic, evidence and fuzzy reasonings.

Abstract:An approach to construct multiple Pareto-optimal fuzzy systems based on NSGA-II is proposed in this paper. First, in order to obtain a good initial fuzzy system, a modified fuzzy clustering algorithm is used to identify the antecedents of fuzzy system, while the consequents are designed separately to reduce computational burden. Second, a Pareto multi-objective genetic algorithm based on NSGA-II and the interpretability-driven simplification techniques are used to evolve the initial fuzzy system iteratively with three objectives: the precision performance, the number of fuzzy rules and the number of fuzzy sets. Resultantly, multiple Pareto-optimal fuzzy systems are obtained. The proposed approach is applied to two benchmark problems, and the results show its validity.

Abstract:Because the number of the fuzzy sets in input and output variable fields directly affects the completeness of fuzzy rules and decides the performance of control system, an approach optimizing fuzzy sets based on hierarchical genetic algorithms is proposed in this paper, which optimizes the number and shape of fuzzy sets in fields currently, makes fuzzy sets distribution orderly and reduces the rule's redundancy. The simulation results of second ordered system show that the approach presented in this paper is effective.

Abstract:A genetic weighted fuzzy rule-based system is proposed in this paper, in which the parameters of membership functions including position and shape of the fuzzy rule set and weights of rules are evolved using a genetic algorithm. The efficiency of the system has been illustrated in the process of classifying the iris data. This paper also illustrates that compared with non-weighted fuzzy rules, weighted fuzzy rules can lead to better fuzzy system.

Abstract:In this paper, a genetic-based method for training fuzzy classification systems is proposed. The genetic algorithm, called genetic algorithm with no genetic operators (GANGO), neither needs to use the conventional genetic operators nor to store the population throughout the evolution process, but still has the same search mechanisms as conventional genetic algorithms. The novelty of the proposed training approach lies in: 1) the new scheme of encoding a fuzzy system based on the interpretation of the values of the components of a fuzzy relationship matrix as the sample probabilities of genes, and this, together with no requirement on storing the population, contributes to a dramatic decrease in storage requirement and computational cost; and 2) the automatic elimination of irrelevant fuzzy rules using a fitness reassignment strategy at the gene level and a weight truncation strategy. The proposed training method is successfully applied to train a fuzzy system for the classification of real-world remote sensing data

Abstract:This paper presents the amalgamation manner and structure of genetic algorithm and evolving fuzzy inference system(EFIS),applies a new EFIS based on GA for dynamic adaptive on-line and off-line learning.An evolving clustering method(ECM) is employed,and new fuzzy rules are created and updated during the operation of the system.Genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the result of ECM and modify the membership functions,calculates the system output by fuzzy inference system.

Abstract:Image interpretation is a very challenging problem in the scope of computer vision. A novel method based on fuzzy graph and genetic algorithm is presented in this paper. It consists of two parts. At first, the fuzzy classification memberships are obtained by fuzzy classifier based on the statistic/geometric unary features of segmented regions, and a fuzzy graph used for describing interpretation information is built through the spatial binary features and the prior rule-base concerning spatial relations that is acquired from statistics or experience. Second, genetic searching algorithm is used to combine unary and binary features, realize uncertain analysis on the graph with loop, and achieve an optimistic interpretation result. Moreover this method can deal with the case where the image segmentation result is not precise. The simulation results are promising for this novel image interpretation method. It is an improvement over the one-directional reasoning method based image interpretation such as probabilistic, evidence and fuzzy reasoning

Abstract:Considering that the performance of a genetic algorithm (GA) is affected by many factors and their relationships are complex and hard to be described, a novel fuzzy-based adaptive genetic algorithm (FAGA) combined a new artificial immune system with fuzzy system theory is proposed due to the fact fuzzy theory can describe high complex problems. In FAGA, immune theory is used to improve the performance of selection operation. And, crossover probability and mutation probability are adjusted dynamically by fuzzy inferences, which are developed according to the heuristic fuzzy relationship between algorithm performances and control parameters. The experiments show that FAGA can efficiently overcome shortcomings of GA, i.e., premature and slow, and obtain better results than two typical fuzzy GAs. Finally, FAGA was used for the parameters estimation of reaction kinetics model and the satisfactory result was obtained.

Abstract:This paper provides a spectrum of chance-constrained programming as well as chance-constrained multiobjective programming and chance-constrained goal programming with fuzzy rather than crisp decisions, which will seek a fuzzy set from the given reference collection as an optimal solution. The technique of fuzzy simulation is also presented to check fuzzy chance constraints and to handle fuzzy objective and goal constraints. Finally, a fuzzy simulation-based genetic algorithm for solving these models will be designed and illustrated by some numerical examples.

Abstract:Interactive genetic algorithms are effective methods to solve an optimization problem with implicit or fuzzy indices, and have been successfully applied to many real-world optimization problems in recent years. In traditional interactive genetic algorithms, many researchers adopt an accurate number to express an individual's fitness assigned by a user. But it is difficult for this expression to reasonably reflect a user's fuzzy and gradual cognitive to an individual. We present an interactive genetic algorithm with an individual's fuzzy fitness in this paper. Firstly, we adopt a fuzzy number described with a Gaussian membership function to express an individual's fitness. Then, in order to compare different individuals, we generate a fitness interval based on @a-cut set, and obtain the probability of individual dominance by use of the probability of interval dominance. Finally, we determine the superior individual in tournament selection with size two based on the probability of individual dominance, and perform the subsequent evolutions. We apply the proposed algorithm to a fashion evolutionary design system, a typical optimization problem with an implicit index, and compare it with two interactive genetic algorithms, i.e., an interactive genetic algorithm with an individual's accurate fitness and an interactive genetic algorithm with an individual's interval fitness. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is advantageous in alleviating user fatigue and looking for user's satisfactory individuals.

Abstract:A new scheme based on multi-objective hierarchical genetic algorithm (MOHGA) is proposed to extract interpretable rule-based knowledge from data. The approach is derived from the use of multiple objective genetic algorithm (MOGA), where the genes of the chromosome are arranged into control genes and parameter genes. These genes are in a hierarchical form so that the control genes can manipulate the parameter genes in a more effective manner. The effectiveness of this chromosome formulation enables the fuzzy sets and rules to be optimally reduced. Some important concepts about the interpretability are introduced and the fitness function in the MOGA will consider both the accuracy and interpretability of the fuzzy model. In order to remove the redundancy of the rule base proactively, we further apply an interpretability-driven simplification method to newborn individuals. In our approach, we first apply the fuzzy clustering to generate an initial rule-based model. Then the multi-objective hierarchical genetic algorithm and the recursive least square method are used to obtain the optimized fuzzy models. The accuracy and the interpretability of fuzzy models derived by this approach are studied and presented in this paper. We compare our work with other methods reported in the literature on four examples: a synthetic nonlinear dynamic system, a nonlinear static system, the Lorenz system and the Mackey–Glass system. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is effective and practical in knowledge extraction.

Abstract:It is pivotal to choose the parameters of control rules, membership function in designing a fuzzy controller. Genetic Algorithm is an effective method to optimize it. Based on hardly to find the best solution when the number of parameters to be optimized is too large, a step-by-step method to optimize the parameters of fuzzy controller is proposed. After discussion, only a quarter of control rules need to be optimized. To eliminate the system error, an integrator is connected with the fuzzy controller in parallel. Simulation results show that proposed design scheme can acquire the satisfied dynamic performance by learning and genetic optimization even for lack of any prior knowledge.
