Abstract:A coadjoint nilpotent orbit [inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="01i" /] of a complex semisimple Lie group G is said to be spherical if it contains an open orbit of a Borel subgroup. We determine when and how to attach unitary representations to such an orbit for the real orthogonal and symplectic groups. Our results actually extend to a larger class of nilpotent coadjoint orbits.

Abstract:Given a set-theoretical solution of the pentagon equation on a set S and writing , with a binary operation on S and a map from S into itself, for every , one naturally obtains that is a semigroup. In this paper, we focus on solutions defined in Clifford semigroups satisfying special properties on the set of all idempotents . Into the specific, we provide a complete description of idempotent-invariant solutions , namely, those solutions for which remains invariant in , for every . Moreover, we construct a family of idempotent-fixed solutions , i.e., those solutions for which fixes every element in for every , from solutions given on each maximal subgroup of S .

Progress on Set-solutions of the Quantum Yang-baxter Equation

Abstract:How to give the set-solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation is an important subject[1]. The aim of this paper is to study this subject under inverse semigroups. For an inverse semigroup S and a map R:S × S→S×S, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for R to be a solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, and then for the case of Clifford semigroups, four set-solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation are obtained. The solutions of the equation under the meaning of groups are generalized. This is an improvement of the study on Drinfeld problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we characterize completely the structure of Clifford semigroups of matrices over an arbitrary field. It is shown that a semigroups of matrices of finite order is a Clifford semigroup if and only if it is isomorphic to a subdirect product of some linear (0-)groups. Then we generalize this result to a semigroup of matrices of countably infinite order and give a similar necessary and sufficient condition for it to be a Clifford semigroup.

Abstract:A U-abundant semigroup S in which every $\mathcal{H}$-class of S contains an element in the set of projections U of S is said to be a U-superabundant semigroup. This is an analogue of regular semigroups which are unions of groups and an analogue of abundant semigroups which are superabundant. In 1941, Clifford proved that a semigroup is a union of groups if and only if it is a semilattice of completely simple semigroups. Several years later, Fountain generalized this result to the class of superabundant semigroups. In this paper, we extend their work to U-superabundant semigroups.
Characterizing the Residual Finiteness of Conjugation Quandles on the Baumslag-Solitar Groups

Abstract:This article fully characterize the residual finiteness of conjugation quandles of the Baumslag-Solitar groups. The key difference between groups and their derived conjugation quandles is that many conjugation quandles are infinitely generated even when their underlying groups are finitely generated. Notably, we prove that the conjugation quandles of Baumslag-Solitar groups are always infinitely generated. Moreover, we show that if a conjugation quandle is Hopfian, then its underlying group is also Hopfian. From this, we identity the conditions for non-Hopfian conjugation quandles of Baumslag-Solitar groups.

On character table of Clifford groups

Abstract:Based on a presentation of $\mathcal{C}_n$ and the help of [GAP], we construct the character table of the Clifford group $\mathcal{C}_n$ for $n=1,2,3$. As an application, we can efficiently decompose the (higher power of) tensor product of the matrix representation in those cases. Our results recover some known results in [HWW, WF] and reveal some new phenomena. We prove that when $n \geq 3$, (1) the trivial character is the only linear character for $\mathcal{C}_n$ and hence $\mathcal{C}_n$ equals to its commutator subgroup, (2) the $n$-qubit Pauli group $\mathcal{P}_n$ is the only proper non-trivial normal subgroup of $\mathcal{C}_n$, (3) the matrix representation $\mathcal{M}_{2^n}$ is a faithful representation for $\mathcal{C}_n$. As a byproduct, we give a presentation of the finite symplectic group $Sp(2n,2)$ in terms of generators and relations.

Abstract:A semigroup is called a Hua semigroup if any mapping h : S -> S satisfying (for all a, b is an element of S) h(ab) = h(a)h(b) or h(b)h(a) is either a homomorphism or an anti-homomorphism. We use this name for such a semigroup since it is relevant to a well-known result in ring theory, which is established by L. K. Hua in 1949. C. M. Reis and H. J. Shyr first translated Hua's result from rings to semigroups in 1977. In this paper, elementary characterizations, a hierarchy and closure properties of the class of Hua semigroups and its four subclasses are given. We show that every cancellative semigroup is a Hua semigroup, which generalizes Reis and Shyr's result.

We determine the complex-valued solutions $f,g,h$ of the functional equation \begin{equation*}f(xy)=f(x)g(y)+g(x)f(y)+h(x)h(y), x,y\in S,\end{equation*} in terms of multiplicative functions, solutions of the special case $$\varphi(xy)=\varphi(x)\chi(y)+\chi(x)\varphi(y), x,y\in S$$ of the sine addition law, where $\chi:S\to\mathbb{C}$ is a multiplicative function, and also in terms of solutions of the particular case $$\psi(xy)=\psi(x)\chi(y)+\chi(x)\psi(y)+\varphi(x)\varphi(y), x,y\in S$$ of the cosine-sine functional equation where $\chi:S\to\mathbb{C}$ is a multiplicative function and $\varphi:S\to\mathbb{C}$ such that the pair $(\varphi,\chi)$ satisfies the sine addition law.

Conjugation groups and structure groups of quandles

Abstract:Quandles are certain algebraic structures showing up in different mathematical contexts. A group $G$ with the conjugation operation forms a quandle, $\operatorname{Conj}(G)$. In the opposite direction, one can construct a group $\operatorname{As}(Q)$ starting from any quandle $Q$. These groups are useful in practice, but hard to compute. We explore the group $\operatorname{As}(\operatorname{Conj}(G))$ for so-called $\overline{C}$-groups $G$. These are groups admitting a presentation with only conjugation and power relations. Symmetric groups $S_n$ are typical examples. We show that for $\overline{C}$-groups, $\operatorname{As}(\operatorname{Conj}(G))$ injects into $G \times \mathbb{Z}^m$, where $m$ is the number of conjugacy classes of $G$. From this we deduce information about the torsion, center, and derived group of $\operatorname{As}(\operatorname{Conj}(G))$. As an application, we compute the second quandle homology group of $\operatorname{Conj}(S_n)$ for all $n$, and unveil rich torsion therein.

Abstract:Let σ = {σi|i ∈ I} be some partition of the set of all primes ℙ, G a finite group and σ(G) = {σi|σi ∩ π(G) ≠ ∅}. A set H of subgroups of G is said to be a complete Hall σ-set of G if every member ≠ 1 of H is a Hall σi-subgroup of G for some σi ∈ σ and H contains exactly one Hall σi-subgroup of G for every σi ∈ σ(G). A subgroup H of G is said to be: σ-semipermutable in G with respect to H if HH i x = H i x H for all x ∈ G and all Hi ∈ H such that (|H|, |Hi|) = 1; σ-semipermutable in G if H is σ-semipermutable in G with respect to some complete Hall σ-set of G. We study the structure of G being based on the assumption that some subgroups of G are σ-semipermutable in G.

Abstract:An automorphism φ of a monoid S is called inner if there exists g in US, the group of units of S, such that φ(s) = gsg−1 for all s in S; we call S nearly complete if all of its automorphisms are inner. In this paper, first, we prove several results on inner automorphisms of a general monoid and subsequently apply them to Clifford monoids. For certain subclasses of the class of Clifford monoids, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a Clifford monoid to be nearly complete. These subclasses arise from conditions on the structure homomorphisms of the Clifford monoids: all being either bijective, surjective, injective, or image trivial.

Abstract:An inverse Clifford semigroup (often referred to as just a Clifford semigroup) is a semilattice of groups. It is an inverse semigroup and in fact, one of the earliest studied classes of semigroups. In this short note, we discuss various structural aspects of a Clifford semigroup from a cross-connection perspective. In particular, given a Clifford semigroup, we show that the semigroup of normal cones is isomorphic to the original semigroup, even when it is not a monoid. Hence, we see that cross-connection description degenerates in Clifford semigroups. Further, we specialise the discussion to provide the description of the cross-connection structure in an arbitrary semilattice, also.

Abstract:Let $C\subset\mathbb{N}^p$ be an integer polyhedral cone. An affine semigroup $S\subset C$ is a $ C$-semigroup if $| C\setminus S|<+\infty$. This structure has always been studied using a monomial order. The main issue is that the choice of these orders is arbitrary. In the present work we choose the order given by the semigroup itself, which is a more natural order. This allows us to generalise some of the definitions and results known from numerical semigroup theory to $C$-semigroups.

Group theoretic properties of Clifford multiplication on 2-torsion points on the Dirac Spinor Abelian Variety

Abstract:In this manuscript we consider a special complex torus, denoted $S_{\Delta_{2k}}$ (for each $k \in \mathbb{N},\, k \geq 1$) and called the Dirac spinor torus. It is an Abelian variety of complex dimension $2^{k}$ whose covering space is the space of Dirac spinors, $\Delta_{2k}$, for the Clifford algebra $Cl(\mathbb{C}^{2k})$ associated with the vector space $\mathbb{C}^{2k}$. Fixing an isomorphism $\rho:Cl(\mathbb{C}^{2k})\rightarrow End (\Delta_{2k})$, we define Clifford multiplication on $S_{\Delta_{2k}}$ as the actions of those endomorphisms in the image of $\rho$ that preserve the full rank lattice. We analyze the properties of that Clifford multiplication on the 2-torsion points of the Dirac spinor torus. We identify the Clifford actions with permutation maps that represent all isomorphism classes of these actions on the group of 2-torsion points. We provide a structure theorem describing these isomorphism classes of Clifford actions in a way that is independent of the choice of representatives. We conclude by extending the scope of our analysis to the group of $n$-torsion points and analyzing the fixed points and translation constants of entry-permuting maps, a broader class of actions of which the Clifford actions on the 2-torsion points of $S_{\Delta_{2k}}$ is a subset.

Abstract:Let σ = { σ i : i ∈ I } be some partition of the set of all primes ℙ, G be a finite group and σ ( G ) = { σ i : σ i ∩ π( G )≠Ø}. A set H of subgroups of G is said to be a complete Hall σ -set of G if every non-identity member of H is a Hall σ i -subgroup of G and H contains exactly one Hall σ i -subgroup of G for every σ i ∈ σ (G). G is said to be σ -full if G possesses a complete Hall σ -set. A subgroup H of G is σ -permutable in G if G possesses a complete Hall σ -set H such that HA x = A x H for all A ∈ H and all x ∈ G . A subgroup H of G is σ -permutably embedded in G if H is σ -full and for every σ i ∈ σ ( H ), every Hall σ i -subgroup of H is also a Hall σ i -subgroup of some σ -permutable subgroup of G . By using the σ -permutably embedded subgroups, we establish some new criteria for a group G to be soluble and supersoluble, and also give the conditions under which a normal subgroup of G is hypercyclically embedded. Some known results are generalized.
The conjugation representation of $\operatorname{GL}_{2}$ and $\operatorname{SL}_{2}$ over finite local rings

Abstract:The conjugation representation of a finite group $G$ is the complex permutation module defined by the action of $G$ on itself by conjugation. Addressing a problem raised by Hain motivated by the study of a Hecke action on iterated Shimura integrals, Tiep proved that for $G=\operatorname{SL}_{2}(\mathbb{Z}/p^{r})$, where $r\geq1$ and $p\geq5$ is a prime, any irreducible representation of $G$ that is trivial on the centre of $G$ is contained in the conjugation representation. Moreover, Tiep asked whether this can be generalised to $p=2$ or $3$. We answer the Hain--Tiep question in the affirmative and also prove analogous statements for $\operatorname{SL}_{2}$ and $\operatorname{GL}_{2}$ over any finite local principal ideal ring with residue field of odd characteristic.

Abstract:In the study of the real projective plane, harmonic conjugates have an essential role, with applications to projectivities, involutions, and polarity. The construction of a harmonic conjugate requires the selection of auxiliary elements; it must be verified, with an invariance theorem, that the result is independent of the choice of these auxiliary elements. A constructive proof of the invariance theorem is given here; the methods used follow principles put forward by Errett Bishop.

Abstract:A study is made of the S1invariant extended solutions of the harmonic maps from a simply connected domain ΩR2 ∪{∞} into the unitary groupU(N)(or its real form).S1-invariant extended solutions prove to be not only KerAφz-invariant extended solution,but also ImAφz-invariant extended solution.Then another algebraic way to construct S1invariant extended solution is given.It is proved that the extended solution obtained by the flag transformation is also S1invariant.The explicit construction of S1invariant G-extended solution is also presented.
