Abstract:The Zhaishang gold deposit is located in the middle of west Qinling and west part of the Min-Co-Li mineralization belt. There are more than 30 gold mineralization vein-bodies discovered and their spatial distribution and occurrence features are strictly controlled by both fault and fold. The deposit is divided into 2 mineralization belts (North and South belt) by the Zhamashu anticline, and the known ore bodies occurred in the two belts are strictly controlled by the NWW fault. By cluster and factor analysis to 16 types of microelements data for 50 tectonic geochemistry samples in the Zhaishang gold deposit, and study of the group features to the sample elements, it's found that the element group of the ore-bearing fault in North belt consist of Au,Bi,Pb,Zn; and the group in South belt consist of Au, Sb, Hg, Cu, Zn, Pb, Co, Bi, As. Taking the known ore or non-ore samples as the parent, by using multinariate statistical and discriminant analysis, the discriminant fuction of fault ore-bearing feature has been established, and the discriminant analysis to the unknown 17 samples has been taken. The result is as same as the field works and could be used as guide for gold prospecting works.
Metal Preconcentration for Gold Mineralization in Arcs: Geophysical Observations from Western Junggar, NW China

Abstract:Previous studies showed that metal preconcentration in fluids and/or magma is critical to the formation of gold deposit in arcs and is closely related to the segregation of sulfide phases. However, the depth range and the magnitude of and associated mechanism by which the deep crust controls the metal preconcentration of arc mineralization remain enigmatic. Here we present geophysical observations of the medium-scale Baogutu por-phyry copper-gold deposit and the large-scale Hatu epithermal gold deposit from the late Paleozoic arc in the western Junggar, NW China. During the closure of Paleo-Asian Ocean, Baogutu deposit formed at-313 Ma relating to the adakitic intrusions driven by the ridge-related subduction, and Hatu deposit formed at-300 Ma just before the subduction termination. The transcrustal structures of resistivity and shear-wave velocity would show the signatures of metal preconcentration by reasoning the cause of low-resistivity anomaly to the persisting sulfide phases and the change of shear-wave velocity to the garnet proportion, respectively. Our results showed that the sulfide phases persisted in the entire deep crust and thus the metal preconcentration could occur in the base cumulates and mush reservoir beneath Hatu deposit, but the signatures were not fully reflected beneath the Baogutu deposit. These observations suggest that the reduced permeability of brittle-ductile transition and the water flux associated with magma likely affect the rising rate of melt, resulting in different efficiency of the metal preconcentration. Thus, the endowments of mineralization in arcs are controlled by crustal structures and contemporaneous arc magmatism during subduction.

Abstract:Based on gold exploration in the Tangshan-Lunshan on the southern margin of the Ningzhen Mountains, Jiangsu, the gold-bearing horizon, geometry of orebodies, distribution characteristics of gold soil-geochemical anomalies and regional interlayer slip fractures have been systematically analyzed. The authors think that the association of carbonate rocks and pelites, along with the regional interlayer slip fractures, constrained gold mineralization. Furthermore, on the basis of summing up the metallogeny of gold deposits in the Tangshan-Lunshan area, the authors make an evaluation of ore prospects in the Ningzhen area. In addition, the genetic model for gold mineralization in this area is proposed in combination with the regional geology and Mesozoic magmatism. Apparently, as is similar to Fe, Cu and Au mineralization in the western segment of the Lower-Middle Yangtze Valley metallogenic belt, the formation of gold deposits in the area is closely related to the Yanshanian postmagmatic hydrothermal activities.

Abstract:The Jinchang gold deposit is located in the easternmost portion of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), and represents one of the major gold districts in eastern Jilin–Heilongjiang provinces of China. The gold ore bodies are hosted mainly in altered Mesozoic granitoids, breccia pipes and ring and radial faults. Gold mineralization consists of alteration (stockwork in hydrothermally altered granites), breccia, and quartz-sulfide vein-types. Alteration assemblages around the alteration-style ore body show a vertical sequence of potassic, phyllic, and propylitic zones.

Abstract:The Gengzhuang gold deposit,one of the typical gold polymetallic deposits in northeastern Shanxi Province,occurs in Yanshanian crypto-explosive breccia body.The studies of fluid inclusions indicate that there are five types of inclusions in the quartz of different metellogenic stages,i.e.gas-rich aqueous,H2O-rich aqueous,three-phase CO2-bearing,three-phase daughter-mineral bearing and single-phase aqueous fluid inclusions,and the mineralized fluids are of H2O-CO2-NaCl type.The various types of inclusions formed in ex-metallogenic stage have similar homogeneous temperatures,which indicates that the fluid experienced boiling or aqueous fluid immiscibility.The major metallogenic temperaute is about 170-180 ℃.Combined with isotopic composition and characteristics of gold minerals,we can conclude that the Gengzhuang gold deposit belongs to medium-low hydrothermal gold deposit related to the Yanshanian sub-volcanic activities.

Abstract:The gold concentration areas in the northwestern Jiaodong Peninsula constituted an important gold metallogenetic region in Eastern China during the Mesozoic. The deep geological bodies' texture characteristic is important for exploring the resources thoroughly and understanding the metallogenic process. The detailed textures were revealed using high-resolution seismic profiles through the three major ore-controlling structures-Sanshandao fault zone, Jiaojia fault zone and Zhaoping fault zone. This study aims to establish a deep structural framework of this area. Based on their formation mechanism, the fault structures developed in the area can be divided into regional and local fault structures. The structural styles are characterised by superimposing their compressional, strike-slip and extensional multi-stage activities. The crust is cut by vertical structures corresponding to a left-lateral strike-slip fault system on the surface. Nearby these structures are the arc-shape structures formed by multi-stage magma intrusions into the upper crust. Bounded by the Tancheng–Lujiang and Muping–Jimo fault zones, the current Jiaodong block, developed a series of NE-trending strike-slip fault systems, was probably formed by the assemblage of several obliquely aligned blocks. The intensive magmatism and hydrothermal activity between the blocks induced large-scale mineralisation. It provides a new angle of view for understanding the cratonic destruction and large ore-concentration formed during the Mesozoic.

The author thinks that it is gold mineralization favorable positions in intersection part of structure and vein rocks of north east, ore body conforms to wave distribution theory within the structure in nearly eastwest; According to orebody distribution and element geochemical characteristics, it has the possibility of occurrence mineral in the deep.

Abstract:The spatial distribution map of 65 mid-large gold-deposits hosted in the granite-greenstone terrains of the North China Craton is first drawn. These gold deposits mainly concentrate in the Mesozoic remobilized Yinshan-Yan-shan-Liaoning-Jilin intracontinental collisional orogenic belt, the northern Qinling and the Jiaodong Mesozoic collisional orogenic belts, and the Mesozoic intracontinental fault-magmatic belts developed along the Taihangshan and the Tan-Lu faults; their mineralizing time is predominantly Jurassic-Cretaceous, i. e. the Yanshanian. The metallogenic geodynamic background is exactly the compression-to-extension transition regime during continental collision.

Abstract:The Wenyu giant gold deposit is hosted in the Precambrian Taihua Supergroup metamorphic rocks within the Xiaoqinling terrane (Qinling Orogen), on the southern margin of the North China Craton. The mineralization can be divided into three stages: quartz–pyrite veins early, quartz–sulfide veins middle (main), and carbonate–quartz veinlets late, with gold being mainly introduced in main stage. Quartz formed in two earlier stages contains three compositional types of fluid inclusions, i.e. pure CO2, CO2–H2O and NaCl–H2O, but the late-stage minerals only contain the NaCl–H2O inclusions. The inclusions in quartz formed in the early, main and late stages yield total homogenization temperatures of 262–417°C, 236–407°C and 114–239°C, respectively, with salinities no higher than 13wt.% NaCl equiv. Trapping pressures estimated from CO2–H2O inclusions are 139–399MPa and 111–316MPa in the early and main stages, corresponding to mineralization depths of 14km and 11km, respectively. Fluid boiling and mixing caused rapid precipitation of sulfides and native Au. Through boiling and inflow of meteoric water, the ore-forming fluid system evolved from CO2-rich to CO2-poor in composition, and from metamorphic to meteoric, as indicated by decreasing δ18Owater values from early to late. The carbon, sulfur and lead isotope compositions suggest the hostrocks within the Taihua Supergroup to be a significant source of ore metals. Integrating the data obtained from the studies including regional geology, ore geology, fluid inclusion and C–H–O–S–Pb isotope geochemistry, we conclude that the Wenyu gold deposit was an orogenic-type system formed in the tectonic transition from compression to extension during the Jurassic–Early Cretaceous continental collision between the North China and Yangtze Cratons.
Electromagnetic Characterization of Epithermal Gold Deposits: A Case Study from the Tuoniuhe Gold Deposit, Northeast China

Abstract:A high-resolution electromagnetic study has helped to define the mineralization and alteration system of the Cretaceous volcano-sedimentary hosted epithermal gold (Au) deposit in Tuoniuhe, northeast China. Audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) array data were acquired to map the regional resistivity structure of the Mesozoic volcanic field, whereas an AMT profile and a ground magnetic survey line with denser site spacing were deployed across the deposit to image the alteration and mineralization system. The electrical resistivity model from 2D inversion of the AMT profile data reveals a low-resistivity (approximately [Formula: see text]) cover from the surface to a depth of 0.1 km, which is likely caused by clay and sulfide minerals in the subaerial alteration zone. The magnetic survey and a geologic borehole log assisted in outlining a zone of tonalite and andesite with silicification in the depth interval of 0.1–0.3 km, featuring high resistivity ([Formula: see text]) and high magnetization ([Formula: see text]). This zone is a potential gold target bounded by two channels of moderate resistivity (approximately [Formula: see text]) to its northwest and southeast. The two channels possibly coincide with breccia pipes with fractured stockworks and high permeability to allow gold-bearing fluids to move toward the surface. The 2D and 3D resistivity models reveal regions of low resistivity ([Formula: see text]) at the depth range of 0.5–1.0 km beneath the Cretaceous calderas and the deposit, which might be related to magmatic cryptoexplosion breccia. In the 2D resistivity model, this magmatic cryptoexplosion breccia zone connects to the subaerial alteration zone through the two breccia pipes, indicative of a circulation system of gold-bearing fluids. Given the coincidence of Cretaceous volcanism and the age of mineralization, the Cretaceous magma is inferred to have supplied heat that drove the convective hydrothermal activity and also was a source of magmatic fluids that led to the development of the Tuoniuhe epithermal gold deposit.
Metallogenic Mechanism of Carlin-Type Gold Deposit in Zhen’an-Xunyang Basin, in the South Qinling of China: Constraints of In Situ Trace Elements and S Isotopes from Newly Discovered Wangzhuang Gold Deposit

Abstract:The Zhen’an-Xunyang Basin is a late Paleozoic rifted basin with a series of Au-Hg-Sb deposits that have been found, mostly along the Nanyangshan fault. Recently discovered large- and medium-sized gold deposits such as the Xiaohe and Wangzhuang deposits exhibit typical characteristics of Carlin-type gold deposits. Therefore, it is imperative to select a typical deposit for an in-depth study of its metallogenic mechanism to support future prospecting efforts targeting the Carlin-type gold deposits within the area. Based on detailed field investigation and microphotographic observation, four ore-forming stages are identified: I, low-sulfide quartz stage, characterized by euhedral, subhedral pyrite, and fine veins of quartz injected parallel to the strata; II, arsenopyrite–arsenian pyrite–quartz stage, the main mineralization stage characterized by strongly silicified zones of reticulated quartz, disseminated arsenopyrite, fine-grained pyrite; III, low-sulfide quartz stage, characterized by large quartz veins cutting through the ore body or fine veins of quartz; IV, carbonate–quartz stage, characterized by the appearance of a large number of calcite veins. In situ analysis of trace elements and S isotopes of typical metal sulfides was carried out. The results show significant variations in the trace element compositions of metal sulfides in different stages, among which the main mineralization stage differs notably from those of the Au- and As-low surrounding strata. In situ S isotope analysis reveals δ34S values ranging from 15.78‰ to 28.71‰ for stage I metal sulfides, 5.52‰ to 11.22‰ for stage II, and 0.3‰ to 5.25‰ for stage III, respectively, revealing a gradual decrease in S isotopic values from the pre-mineralization stage to post-mineralization stage, similar to those observed in the Xiaohe gold deposit. These features indicate a distinct injection of relatively low 34S hydrothermal fluids during the mineralization process. The element anomalies of the 1:50,000 stream sediment in the region revealed ore-forming element zonation changing in W→Au (W)→Hg, Sb (Au) anomalies from west to east, manifested by the discovery of tungsten, gold, and mercury–antimony deposits in the area. Moreover, conspicuous Cr-Ni-Ti-Co-Mo anomalies were observed on the western side of the Wangzhuang and Xiaohe gold deposits, indicating a potential concealed pluton related to these deposits. These lines of evidence point to a magmatic–hydrothermal origin for the Carlin-type gold deposits in this area. Furthermore, hydrothermal tungsten deposits, Carlin-type gold deposits, and low-temperature hydrothermal mercury–antimony deposits in this region are probably controlled by the same magma–hydrothermal system.

Abstract:The Huangshan glod deposit is one of the famous gold deposits in Zhuji,Zhejiang Province.It is located in the northeastern section of the Jiangshan-Shaoxing fault zone.A comparative study on the structural characteristics of this deposit and the Miaoxiafan gold deposit suggests that they have the same tectonic setting,roughly identical mineralization ages,but different ore-body strikes and shear directions.The Huangshan gold deposit occurs in a shear zone of NE-trending,while the Miaoxiafan gold deposit lies at a NW-trending shear zone.The two shear zones constitute a conjugate shear zone superimposed on the main Jianshan-Shaoxing ductile shear zone.The NE-trending and nearly NS-trending brittle fractures,caused by NW -SE and NNE-SSW directed compressive stress after the mineralization,destroyed the early orebodies.According to the spatial distribution of conjugate shear zones,we infer that there is a mineral-bearing shear zone corresponding to the Huangshan shear zone on the south-east side of the Jiangshan-Shaoxin fault.This zone is located under the metamorphic rocks of the Neoproterozoic Chencai group and buried deeply,which should be a favorable exploration block in this area.
Textural and geochemical characteristics of gold-associated scheelites: Implications for the metallogenesis of the Xiaoqinling gold province, north China Craton

Abstract:Gold deposits in the Xiaoqinling province, southern margin of the North China Craton, are hosted by Neoarchean amphibolite-facies rocks of a metamorphic core complex. Over 630 t of gold resource was concentrated in the narrow-uplifted basement, which was classified into three (northern, middle, and southern) major ore belts. Gold-related scheelite grains from the Qinnan and Qiaoshangzhai (northern belt), Tonggou (middle belt), and Yangzhaiyu (southern belt) deposits were analyzed using a combination of cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging and LA-ICP-MS trace element analysis to decipher their metallogenesis. Our new results indicate that: (1) the Xiaoqinling scheelites are characterized by high Sr content and varying internal texture, replicating fluid-rock reactions. Oscillatory zoning and inhomogeneous trace element compositions suggest a dynamic hydrothermal system with fluctuating chemical properties; (2) the REEs of Xiaoqinling scheelites were mainly controlled by the substitution mechanism 2Ca2+ = REE3+ + Na+. All scheelite grains yielded typical bell-shaped REEN patterns, with negative and positive Eu anomalies occurring in samples from the Qinnan-Qiaoshangzhai and Tonggou-Yangzhaiyu deposits, respectively. Meanwhile, the scheelite Mo concentration in the northern belt (>100 ppm) is much higher than that in the middle and southern belts (<20 ppm), suggestive of significant variations in the oxygen fugacity (fO2). The spatial association of the northern ore belt with the Taiyao detachment fault may imply an increase in the fluid fO2 by percolating meteoric waters; (3) the obtained scheelite 87Sr/86Sr ratios show a broadly increasing trend from north to south (are 0.71480 to 0.71626 for Qinnan, 0.72784 to 0.72920 for Qiaoshangzhai, 0.71864 to 0.76251 for Tonggou, and 0.72760 to 0.74781 for Yangzhaiyu). This trend may depict the ore-fluid flow direction, i.e., the Sr isotopic signature shifted towards a more radiogenic composition with increasing distance from north to south due to fluid reaction with the Taihua Group (amphibolite- to granulite-facies metamorphic rock pile).

Abstract:Basing on the combination of plates, ductile-brittle shear zone in the ShuangQuan area, Eastern JungGar forms in the system of continental- continental collision. During 330~265 Ma, affected by the conversion from compression to extension, it undergoes ductile and brittle deformation. Regionally, gold deposits have close relationship with the ductile-brittle shear zone in space and time. All kinds of cracks and faults in the Ridel shear structural system, forming in the ductile shear deformation, are areas easily-deformed in the late brittle stage, and preferential areas for swarming gold deposits. The characteristics of H, O isotopes from inclusions show that the water in the fluid is originated from metamorphic water and the REE characteristics of ores manifest that gold deposits is related to the stratum of Devonian and Carboniferous, no relationship with rock bodies. Synthetically, the studies of geology and geochemistry show the prospecting of the area.
The Geological Characteristics and Ore Genesis of the Qiucun Gold Deposit, Fujian Province

Abstract:The Qiucun gold deposit, hosted in the Nanyuan Formation consisting of continental arc volcanic rocks, is controled by NE-NNE trending faults.In order to figure out the geological characteristics and ore genesis of the Qiucun gold deposit, detailed studies of wall rock alteration, ore mineral composition and fluid inclusion were carried out.Wall rock alteration study shows that gold mineralization is closely associated with quartz(chalcedony)-illite-pyrite-calcite assemblages, which are typical of low-sulfidation epithermal system.EPMA analysis indicate that the electrum consists of 62%~69% gold and 28%~33% sliver with gold mean fineness of 674.Liquid-rich two-phase aqueous fluid inclusions are dominated in auriferous quartz veins, only minor vapor-rich fluid inclusions occurred in such quartz veins.Liquid-rich fluid inclusions have homogenization temperatures(Th)of 180-250℃ and salinities of 0.5%-3.0% NaCl equivalent.Laser Raman analysis shows that the vapor phase of the inclusions are mainly H2O.All the results indicate that the Qiucun gold deposit belongs to a low-sulfidation epithermal deposit.

Abstract:Magmatism and associated metallogeny provide important constraints on geodynamic processes. The Hengshan terrain of northern Taihang Mountains located within the central North China Craton is well-known for several Mesozoic gold deposits. Here we investigate the Yixingzhai quartz vein-hosted gold deposit associated with the Sunzhuang quartz monzodiorite intrusive complex. We present U–Pb data on zircon grains from the monzodiorite which constrain the timing of emplacement of the pluton as ca.134Ma, coeval with the formation of Yixingzhai quartz vein gold deposit (at ca. 131Ma). The magmatism and metallogenesis during early Cretaceous in the Hengshan terrain are part of a major regional magmatic and metallogenic event in the Taihang Mountains and elsewhere in the North China Craton at ca. 130Ma ago. We characterize the zircon grains from the Sunzhuang quartz monzodiorite through morphology, internal structures and chemistry, and also present data from analyses of the chemistry (Co and Ni), and S–Pb–D–O isotopes of the minerals from the Yixingzhai gold deposit and Sunzhuang quartz monzodiorite. Our results reveal a lower crustal signature with mantle input for the source magma of the Sunzhuang Pluton. The magma was enriched in water and alkalis and shows a wide range of crystallization temperature (850–550°C, and mainly 650 to 700°C) under high oxygen fugacity. The ore minerals and the mineralizing fluids in the Yixingzhai gold deposit were derived from magma generated in the lower crust with additional input of mantle components. Our study links the gold metallogenesis with magmatism in the Hengshan terrain. Based on the new results reported in this study, and in conjunction with our interpretation of the ultra-broadband high-precision magnetotelluric sounding profile from the region, we suggest that the lithosphere beneath the Hengshan terrain was strongly thinned and decoupled between the crust and mantle in the early Cretaceous, and that the partly destructed lithosphere was largely preserved through the Cenozoic to present. The metallogenesis in the Hengshan terrain was closely related to the lithosphere thinning and crust–mantle decoupling in the North China Craton.
Ore-controlled Mechanism and Geochemical Characteristics of Gold-bearing Formation in Northwest Jiangxi Terrain

Abstract:Based on the geological and geochemical studies on the Middle Proterozoic Jiuling Group in the Northwest Jiangxi Terrain, it is ascertained that this group is a kind of Au-bearing formation with Au-Ag-As association, and the volcanism is the key to its foundation. The Jiuling Group can be divided into two geochemical groups: high-Au layers and low-Au layers, which is due to the inhomogeneous metamorphic reformation. The discriminant functions F_1 F_2 can be established by means of Au, Ag, As, Ti, Cr, V, etc. eleven elements, and the diagram of F_1-F_2 is the distinguishing sign of the Au-bearing formation. Based on the systematic studies on two types of gold mineralization, namely, solo gold with metamorphic fluid and Au, Ag, etc. polymetallic association with magmatic fluid, the authors establish the metallogenic model of gold deposits in the area.
Geochemical study of Shaxi porphyry copper-gold deposit in southern part of Tan-Lu fault belt, east China

Abstract:Shaxi Porphyry Cu-Au deposit in central Anhui Province is located in the Middle-Lower reaches of Yangtze metallogenic valley in east China. Red sandstone and conglomerate of Cretaceous age, clastic rocks of Middle and Lower Jurassic, clastic rocks of continental sea facies of Upper Devonian-Middle Silurian age, various continental volcanic rocks of Jurassic age form the rock types of the Shaxi porphyry copper-gold metallogenic belt. The ore district is cut by multiple faults, of which the most important are Tanlu fault and Fanshan-Tongling faults, the former being the largest fault system in East Asian continent and the later being the regional deep fault. The geological, geochemical and mineralogical methods used to investigate the porphyry copper-gold deposit associated with large scale sulphide mineralization forms the theme of this paper. Through field geological surveys, mineralogical observation, compositional analyses on minerals using EPMA, geochemical analyses on Cu-Au-bearing intrusive rocks, fluid inclusion and oxygen, hydrogen, sulphur isotopic studies, and element distributions detected by PIXE system, the characteristics of mineralization and gold occurrence in the Shaxi porphyry copper-gold deposit have been fully investigated. The results of the study form the basis for further research and exploration on the porphyry copper-gold deposit of the Middle-Lower Yangtze region.
Distal gold mineralization associated with porphyry system: The case of Hongzhuang and Yuanling deposits, East Qinling, China

Abstract:The Hongzhuang and Yuanling gold deposits are located in the Shiyaogou ore field within the Xiong'ershan area, East Qinling, China, where the ore bodies are hosted in Xiong'er Group and mainly controlled by EW-trending and NE-trending faults. The gold mineralization mechanism and the possible genetic link with the porphyry magmatism and hydrothermal events remain unclear. Here we present results from systematic field investigation, petrographic observation, in situ trace elements and sulfur isotope of pyrite to elucidate the genesis of gold mineralization in these deposits. Based on the occurrences of pyrite in different hydrothermal veins, three types of pyrite are identified from each deposit, including: i) coarse-grained cubic pyrite (HZ-Py1 and YL-Py1) in stage I milky quartz vein; ii) medium- to fine-grained pyrite (HZ-Py2 and YL-Py2) in stage II polymetallic sulfides veins; iii) coarse-grained pyrite (HZ-Py3 and YL-Py3) symbiotic with calcite in stage III quartz-calcite vein. The LA-ICP-MS trace element analyses of pyrite show that Au occurs as invisible nanoparticles or nano-sized inclusions in pyrite through absorption-chemisorption during the growth of pyrite or as nano-sized Au-bearing mineral inclusions. The δ34S values of different generations of pyrite in the Hongzhuang and Yuanling gold deposits range from 3.92‰ to 6.43‰ and 2.82‰ to 4.46‰, respectively, indicating that the ore-forming materials were mainly derived from mantle-related source with affinity to the Late Mesozoic granitic magmatism. The Hongzhuang and Yuanling gold deposits are spatially and temporally correlated with the Shiyaogou pluton and they show consistent material sources. We propose that the hydrothermal Au mineralization in these deposits were the distal products generated from the post-magmatic fluids of the Shiyaogou porphyry system. The stretching and thinning of the early Cretaceous lithosphere led to the upwelling of magma and migration of fluid, forming the Au mineralization in fault structures in the shallow crust.

Abstract:The large-scale concentration of Au associated with Mesozoic granitoid intrusions in the North China Craton (NCC) has inspired many investigations to explore the genetic relationship between the magmatism and gold metallogeny. The Xiaoqinling gold province is located in the southern margin of the North China Craton. The Wenyu and Huashan monzonitic granites formed at Early Cretaceous represent two of the important intrusions in this region, and a large number of gold deposits occur around the Wenyu pluton. Here we present results from an integrated study using in situ zircon U-Pb ages, trace elements, and Hf isotope to infer the composition and environmental changes during different evolution stages of the fertile Wenyu pluton and compare with the infertile Huashan pluton. The Huashan pluton was emplaced at 144.0 +/- 0.6 Ma, whereas the fertile Wenyu pluton experienced multistage magmatic activity from 141.4 +/- 0.6 to 129.6 +/- 0.5 Ma. Temperatures computed from Ti-in-zircon thermometry indicate that the late-stage Wenyu magma crystalized at 644 degrees C, the Huashan magma, and early-stage Wenyu magma crystalized at around 750 degrees C. And the oxygen fugacity (Ce4+/Ce3+ > 200 and Eu/Eu* > 0.7) and the water content of the late-stage Wenyu magma stay at higher levels. The U/Yb-Hf and U/Yb-Y relationship with epsilon Hf(t) (-15.63 to -17.89) of the late-stage Wenyu magma suggest that the ancient lower crust with subsequent inputted basaltic components make up the source of the fertile and infertile plutons. Combined with previous geochronological data and geodynamics studies, we propose that the late-stage intrusion of the Wenyu pluton experienced intensive magma mixing. And the formation of Wenyu pluton created conducive heat energy, oxygen fugacity, and water conditions for the formation of high-grade gold deposits.
