Abstract:By means of long cycle (T = 100 s) pulsed currents, aluminum alloy LD 31 was anodized at room temperature 25-30 °C. With film thickness obtained more than 80 μm, and film micro-hardness higher than 400. The products were studied through EXP and SEM analysis and the results show that (1) Both thickness and micro-hardness of film increase with the increase of current density and anodizing time at first, then micro-hardness decreases when the current density and anodizing time reach certain value, and film micro-hardness gradually decreases; (2) the second phase intermetallic compounds of the aluminum alloy partly remain in the anodic film, and are oxidized during the anodizing process to form complex compounds; (3) the local burning and cracking in anodic film are close related to the higher current density, the segregation of second phase intermetallic compounds in aluminum alloys, the formation of complex compounds during the anodizing process; and the uneven agitation of electrolyte.
