Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [MnCl2(C12H8N2)(2)]center dot 0.5C(7)H(6)O(4)center dot 2H(2)O, the Mn-II complex assumes a distorted octahedral geometry formed by two chloride anions and two phenanthroline (phen) ligands. The 2,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid molecule is disordered about an inversion center. The face-to-face separations of 3.540 (11) and 3.429 (8) A between parallel phen ligands indicate the existence of pi-pi stacking between adjacent Mn-II complexes. Uncoordinated water molecules are linked with complex and dihydroxybenzoic acid molecules via O-H center dot center dot center dot Cl and O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:The title compound has been prepared and its crystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The complex salt consists of Mn(II) complex cations, benzoate anions and lattice water molecules. Mn(II) assumes a distorted octahedral geometry defined by two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, a Cl- ion and a water molecule. A comparison of bond distances and bond angles suggests electrostatic interaction between Mn(II) and coordinated N atoms. The nitrobenzoate anion does not coordinate to the Mn atom but links with the complex cation via O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. Aromatic stacking occurs between phen rings and between phen and benzoate.

Abstract:A novel Mn(II) complex bridged by 1,3-benzenedicarboxylate (BDC) has been synthesized by the diffusion method. The complex crystallizes in space group P2(1)/c with a=8.345(2), b=10.427(1), c=18.756(2) Angstrom, beta =100.19(1)degrees. Each BDC bridges three Mn(II) atoms through two carboxyl groups with different coordination modes to form a complex polymeric chain. The coordination geometry around the Mn(II) atom is seriously distorted from the normal octahedron. Large deviations of the donor atoms out of the coordination planes and unexpected bond angles around Mn(II) and donor O atoms suggest the existence of an electrostatic interaction between Mn(II) and donor atoms in the complex. Close stacking of aromatic rings is observed in the complex, the distance between the neighboring phen planes being 3.2085 Angstrom.

Abstract:In the title compound, [Mn(C7H3NO4)(C12H8N2)(H2O)2]·H2O, the MnII atom is surrounded by one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, one pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylate (pydc) dianion and two water molecules in a distorted octahedral MnN3O3 coordination. Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C3H4N2)6][Mn(C3H4N2)3(H2O)3](C12H6O4)2, there are uncoordinated naphthalenedicarboxylate dianions and two kinds of MnII complex cations, both assuming a distorted octahedral geometry. One MnII cation is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by six imidazole molecules, while the other MnII cation is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by three water molecules and three imidazole units. The naphthalenedicarboxylate dianions are linked to both MnII complex cations via O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonding, but no π–π stacking is observed between aromatic rings in the crystal structure.

Abstract:The title compound, [Mn(C7H5O3)(C12H8N2)(2)(H2O)]( C7H5O3) center dot H2O, consists of Mn-II complex cations, 4-hydroxybenzoate anions and uncoordinated water molecules. The Mn-II complex cation assumes a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by two 1,10-phenanthroline ( phen) ligands, one 4-hydroxybenzoate anion and a water molecule. The face-to-face distances of 3.39 ( 2) and 3.364 ( 12) angstrom between partially overlapped parallel phen ligands suggest the existence of pi-pi stacking between neighboring complex cations.

Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [CuCl(C12H8N2)(2)]NO(3)center dot C(7)H(5)NO(4)center dot H2O, the Cu-II ion assumes a trigonal-bipyramidal CuN4Cl coordination geometry arising from two bidentate 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands and one chloride ion, with the chloride ion in an equatorial position. A partially overlapped arrangement between parallel phen rings of neighboring complexes, with face-to-face distances of 3.529 (9) and 3.452 (8) angstrom, suggests the existence of pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:The structure of the the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(3)ClO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, consists of a dimeric unit involving a planar Cu(2)O(2) group arranged around an inversion center. The coordination sphere of the Cu(II) atom can be described as an elongated distorted square pyramid where the basal plane is formed by the two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule and the two O atoms of the hydroxy-chloro-benzoate (hcbe) anion. The long apical Cu-O distance of 2.569 (2) Å involves the O atom of a symmetry-related hcbe anion, building up the dinuclear unit. Each dinuclear unit is connected through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving two water mol-ecules, resulting in an R(4) (2)(8) graph-set motif and building up an infinite chain parallel to (10). C-H⋯O inter-actions further stabilize the chain.

Abstract:In the title polymeric complex, [Mn(C7H5O3)2(C12H8N2)]n, the MnII atom is located on a twofold axis and displays a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, formed by four salicylate anions and one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) molecule. The salicylate anions doubly bridge the Mn(II) atoms to form one-dimensional polymeric chains. A comparison of Mn-O bond distances with the corresponding Mn-O-C angles suggests a significant electrostatic content in the Mn-O bonds. A face-to-face distance of 3.352 (7) A between neighbouring parallel phen planes indicates pi-pi stacking interactions between polymeric chains.

Abstract:In the title complex, [Mn(C4HBrO4)(C12H8N2)(2)(H2O)] . H2O, the Mn-II atom has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by two bidentate phenanthroline ( phen) molecules, one bromomaleate dianion and one water molecule. The large Mn - O - C bond angle of 143.31 (17)degrees implies poor overlap between the atomic orbitals of manganese and those of the carboxyl O atom, but despite this the Mn - O bond distance of 2.0574 (16) Angstrom is short, suggesting a substantial electrostatic interaction in this bond. The overlapped arrangement and short face-to-face distances of 3.368 (5) and 3.501 (11) Angstrom between neighboring parallel phen planes show pi-pi stacking in the crystal structure.

Abstract:In the title complex, [Cu(C8H7O2)2(C12H8N2)], the CuII atom is located on a twofold axis and assumes a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, formed by a phenanthroline molecule and two methylbenzoate anions, all in chelating mode. The carboxylate group chelates to the CuII atom with greatly differing Cu—O distances, viz. 2.5923 (19) A in the axial direction and 1.9435 (14) A in the equatorial plane.

Abstract:The title compounds are isomorphous, comprised of neutral monomeric [M(phen)2(dca)2] [(I): M = Mn, (II): M = Zn; phen is 1,10-phenanthroline, C12H8N2; dca is dicyanamide, C2N3] molecules. In the molecule, the divalent metal ion is in a distorted octahedral coordination environment formed by six N atoms from the phen and dca ligands. The Mn—N [2.144 (2)–2.319 (2) Å] and Zn—N [2.075 (2)–2.245 (2) Å] distances are in agreement with the difference in size of the two divalent ions.

Abstract:In the title complex, [Mn(C7H4NO4)(2)(C3H4N2)(2)(H2O)(2)], the Mull atom, located on an inversion center, assumes an octahedral coordination geometry formed by four O and two N atoms. The nitrobenzoate mean plane is inclined to the coordination plane formed by the four O atoms, with a dihedral angle of 23.98 (6)degrees. The interplanar distance of 3.624 (16) Angstrom implies there is no pi-pi stacking between parallel imidazole rings.
