Abstract:For a three-dimensional non-harmonic oscillator potential ((1)/(2)r(2) + (A)/(2)r(2)) the s-wave bound solutions of both Dirac equation and Klein-Gordon equation are given when the scalar potential is equal to the vector potential. We find that the radial component equations for both two-dimensional Dirac equation and three-dimensional one are the same when the scalar potential equals to the vector potential, and the corresponding s-wave bound solutions for the two-dimensional system are also obtained.

Abstract:We study the dynamics of relativistic spinless particles moving in a plane when there is circular symmetry. The general formalism for solving the Klein-Gordon equation in cylindrical coordinates for such systems is presented, as well as the conserved observables and the corresponding quantum numbers. We look for bound solutions of the corresponding Klein-Gordon equation when one has vector and scalar circularly symmetric harmonic oscillator potentials. Both positive and negative bound solutions are considered when there is either equal vector and scalar potentials or symmetric vector and scalar potentials, and it is shown how both cases are related through charge conjugation. We compute the non-relativistic limit for those cases, and show that for symmetric scalar and vector potentials the limit does not exist in the first order of an harmonic oscillator frequency, recovering a known result from the Dirac equation with the same kind of potentials.

Abstract:In this article we used supersymmetry quantum mechanics and factorization methods to study the bound and scattering state of Klein-Gordon equation with deformed Hulthen plus deformed hyperbolical potential for arbitrary state in D-dimensions. The analytic relativistic bound state eigenvalues and the scattering phase factor are found in closed form. We reported on the numerical results for the bound state energy in D-dimensions.

Abstract:Exactly solvable models play an extremely important role in many fields of quantum physics. In this study, the Schrödinger equation is applied for a solution of a two--dimensional (2D) problem for two particles interacting via Kratzer, and modified Kratzer potentials. We found the exact bound state solutions of the two--dimensional Schrödinger equation with Kratzer--type potentials and present analytical expressions for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. The eigenfunctions are given in terms of the associated Laguerre polynomials.

Abstract:An upgraded concept of solvability of Schrödinger-type equations is proposed. In a broader methodical context of non-perturbative quantum theory the innovation involves potentials which are piece-wise analytic yielding differential equations solvable in terms of special functions. In our illustrative example, Whittaker functions are employed and a single point of non-analyticity is admitted in the origin. In a symbolic-manipulation-based practical implementation of the method a serendipitous advantage of the construction of bound states is found in the both-sided nature of the numerical localization of their energies.

Abstract:We have analytically studied bound states of the one-dimensional Dirac equation for scalar and vector double square-well potentials (DSPs), by using the transfer-matrix method. Detailed numerical calculations of the eigenvalue, wave function and density probability have been performed for the three cases: (1) vector DSP only, (2) scalar DSP only, and (3) scalar and vector DSPs with equal magnitudes. We discuss the difference and similarity among results of the cases (1)-(3) in the Dirac equation and that in the Schrödinger equation. Motion of a wave packet is calculated for a study on quantum tunneling through the central barrier in the DSP.

Abstract:Dirac delta-function potential is widely studied in quantum mechanics becauseit usually can be exactly solved and at the same time is useful in modelingvarious physical systems. Here we study a system of delta-potential trappedspinorbit coupled cold atoms. The spin-orbit coupled atomic matter wave has twokinds of evanescent modes, one of which has pure imaginary wavevector and is anordinary evanescent wave; while the other with a complex number wave vector isrecognized as oscillating evanescent wave. We identified the eigenenergyspectra and the existence of bound states in this system. The bound states canbe constructed analytically using the two kinds of evanescent modes and wefound that they exhibit typical features of stripe phase, separated phase orzero-momentum phase. In addition to that, the properties of semi-bound statesare also discussed, which is a localized wave packet on a plane wavebackground.

Abstract:We present a new relativistic bound-state formalism for two interacting Fermi–Dirac particles. The kernel of the integral equation for the bound-state system is generated by summing Feynman scattering amplitudes and multiplying by a bound-state amplitude. The method is illustrated through calculations of the hyperfine and fine splittings of positronium up to order α5. Our calculations of the one-loop contributions are carried out in the explicitly covariant Feynman gauge. We also present new results for the hyperfine and fine splittings in positronium to order α5 for arbitrary principal quantum number n, which are easily obtained owing to the virtue of conceptual and calculational simplicity of our formalism. In addition, we present the one-loop renormalization scheme in our formalism.

Abstract:We study the existence of semi-classical bound states of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation -epsilon(2) Delta u + V(x)u = f (u), x is an element of R-N, where N >= 3; epsilon is a positive parameter; V : R-N -> [0, infinity) satisfies some suitable assumptions. We study two cases: if f is asymptotically linear, i.e., if lim(|t|->infinity) f (t)/t = constant, then we get positive solutions. If f is superlinear and f ( u) = |u|(p-2)u + |u|(q-2)u, 2* > p > q > 2, we obtain the existence of multiple sign-changing semi-classical bound states with information on the estimates of the energies, the Morse indices and the number of nodal domains. For this purpose, we establish a mountain cliff theorem without the compactness condition and apply a new sign-changing critical point theorem.

Abstract:The Schrodinger equation with a Yukawa type of potential is solved analytically. When different boundary conditions are taken into account, a series of solutions are indicated as Bessel function, the first kind of Hankel function and the second kind of Hankel function, respectively. Subsequently, the scattering processes of and are investigated. In the sector, the particle is treated as a bound state, therefore, the coupling constant in the Yukawa potential can be fixed according to the binding energy of the particle. Consequently, a resonance state is generated by solving the Schrodinger equation with the outgoing wave condition, which lie at MeV on the complex energy plane. It is reasonable to assume that the resonance state at MeV might correspond to the particle in the review of Particle Data Group(PDG). In the sector, since the particle is almost located at the threshold, the binding energy of it equals to zero approximately. Therefore, the coupling constant in the Yukawa potential is determined, which is related to the first zero point of the zero order Bessel function. Similarly to the case, four resonance states are produced as solutions of the Schrodinger equation with the outgoing wave condition. It is assumed that the resonance states at MeV, MeV, MeV and MeV might be associated with the , the , the and particles, respectively. It is noted that all solutions are isospin degenerate.

Anal. 82 (1983), 347â€“375]. The Klein-Gordon-Maxwell system is a model describing solitary waves for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation interacting with an electromagnetic field. By using variational methods and some analysis techniques, the existence of positive solution and multiple solutions can be obtained. Moreover, we study the properties of decay estimates and asymptotic behavior for the positive solution.

Abstract:The Dirac equation for the special case of a spinor in the relativistic potential with the even and odd components related by a constraint is solved exactly when the even component is chosen to be the Hulthen potential. The corresponding radial wavefunctions for two-component spinor are obtained in terms of the hypergeometric function, and the energy spectrum of the bound states is obtained as a solution to a given equation by boundary constraints in which the nonrelativistic limit reproduces the usual Hulthen potential.

Abstract:We study the existence and concentration of bound states to N-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation -epsilon(2)Delta u(epsilon) + V(x)u(epsilon) = K(x)f(u(epsilon)), where N >= 3, epsilon > 0 is sufficiently small, and the function f(s) is nonnegative and asymptotically linear at infinity. More concretely, when f(s) similar to O(s) as s -> +infinity, the potential function V(x) lies in C-0(1)(R-N) with V(x) >= 0 and V(x) not equivalent to 0, and K(x) >= 0 is permitted to be unbounded under some other necessary restrictions, we can show that a positive H-1(R-N)-solution u(epsilon)(x) exists and concentrates around the local maximum point of the corresponding ground energy function.

Abstract:We study the effect of spatially dependent mass functions over the solution of the Klein-Gordon equation in the (3+1)-dimensions for spinless bosonic particles where the mixed scalar-vector Coulomb-like field potentials and masses are directly proportional and inversely proportional to the distance from force center. The exact bound state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions of the Klein-Gordon equation for mixed scalar-vector and pure scalar Coulomb-like field potentials are obtained by means of the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method. The energy spectrum is discussed for different scalar-vector potential mixing cases and also for constant mass case.
