Using electromagnetical force to get stress birefringence and dual frequency laser

Abstract:A new method for both producing and controlling the frequency difference of a dual frequency laser by using an electromagnetic force were introduced. A half-intracavity laser is used. Both the surfaces of the discharge tube's window plate are coated with a high anti-reflecting film, it is used as a stress birefringence element. by regulating the voltage of electromagnet, the force applied by the electromagnet radially along the window is changed, thus, the frequency difference is produced and controlled. The frequency difference is detected by a photo electric detector and is read out by a frequency meter.
