Abstract:Methods toward the dimerization and homocoupling of terminal alkynes have been established that employ Co complexes along with tBuOK under different atmosphere. A variety of Z-1,3-enynes were furnished with a high Z:E (up to 93:7) ratio in moderate to very good yields under inert atmosphere. Alternatively, the Glaser homocoupling reaction of terminal alkynes was also accomplished with a Co catalyst, successfully affording various 1,3-diynes in excellent yields (up to 93%) under oxygen.

Abstract:1-Iodoalkynes are one type of the most reactive and the most practical intermediates in organic synthesis. Here, some facile and efficient methods for the 1-iodination of terminal alkynes are developed using N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) as an iodination reagent and some inexpensive mild bases as catalysts. K2CO3 and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) have been proven to be the most suitable inorganic and organic bases, succeeding in 17 examples with excellent yields (up to 99%).

Abstract:We describe a copper-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction of alkyl halides with terminal alkynes under ambient conditions, efficiently providing a versatile tool for the construction of substituted alkynes. A new proline-based N,N,Pligand is utilized to promote the transformation under a mild reaction condition. Diverse alkyl halides, such as primary and secondary (hetero) benzyl chlorides and bromides, secondary and tertiary α-bromo amides and propargylic bromide, are applicable to provide a wide array of alkynes.

Abstract:The direct construction of C(sp)-S-P(O) moiety from unactivated terminal alkynes has been an unbroken research field for a long time. Alkynyl phosphorothioates are obtained by coupling terminal alkynes and P(O)SH. Using commercially available and inexpensive Ru(bpy)3Cl2 and copper as catalyst, this cross dehydrogenative coupling reaction is first performed under photo irradiation. Direct use of stable P(O)SH and terminal alkynes without the need to prepare the unstable S-X and P-X derivatives represents a prominent advantage of the method. More attractively, this operationally simple reaction avoids the use of odorous thiols and poisonous alkynyl bromides.

Abstract:In this work, we have developed a successful Sonogashira coupling reaction utilizing IPrCl-Cl as the activation reagent to couple carboxylic acids with terminal alkynes. The reaction employs CuI/Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 as the co-catalyst and Et3N as the solvent, resulting in excellent yields (up to 88%) of ynones. The use of carboxylic acids as a starting material makes this method a valuable contribution to organic synthesis.

Abstract:Coupling of terminal alkynes with protected 5 iodouridine in the presence of dichlorobis(triphenylphosphine)palladium and copper(Ⅰ) iodine in dimethylformamide gave the corresponding 5 (alkyn 1 yl) uridines in 85%～92%.In addition,a new compound 4 O (trans methyl acrylate 1 yl) 5 (methyl propionate 1 yl) deoxyuridine was obtained from the condensation of 5 iododeoxyuridine with 2 methyl propionates.

Abstract:A simple two-step, one-pot synthesis of 1,2,2-triiodovinyl derivatives from terminal alkynes using N-iodosuccinimide and iodine as precursors, activated with gamma-aluminum oxide is developed. This approach resulted in moderate to excellent yields, good functional group tolerance and utilization of an inexpensive catalyst.

Abstract:A copper-catalyzed decarboxylative coupling reaction of potassium alkynyl carboxylates with 1,1-dibromo-1-alkenes was developed for the synthesis of unsymmetrical 1,3-diyne and 1,3,5-triyne derivatives. Diverse aryl, alkenyl, alkynyl, and alkyl substituted 1,1-dibromo-1-alkenes can react smoothly with aryl and alkyl substituted propiolates to produce unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes and 1,3,5-triynes with high selectivity and good functional group compatibility.

Abstract:Unprecedented palladium-catalysed regio- and stereo-selective coupling reactions of homoallenylboronates with (hetero)aryl iodides, allyl bromides and alkynyl bromides in aqueous solution were successfully developed. The corresponding 1,3-dienes, skipped dienes and conjugate enynes were obtained as products, respectively, in high yields and with specific stereoselectivity. Therefore, the homoallenylboronates were potentially powerful and flexible "platform" molecules to form the complex 1,3-dienyl compounds.

Abstract:Cross-dehydrogenative coupling reactions provide a method to construct new chemical bonds by direct C-H activation without any pre-functionalization. Compared to functionalization of a C-H bond α- to ether oxygen, α- to carbonyl, or at a benzylic position, functionalization of unactivated hydrocarbons is difficult and often requires high temperatures, a transition-metal catalyst, or a superstoichiometric quantity of volatile, toxic, and explosive tert-butylhydroperoxide. Here, a cross-dehydrogenative C-O coupling reaction of N-hydroxyphthalimide with unactivated alkanes, nitriles, ethers, and thioethers has been realized by using iodobenzene diacetate as the radical initiator. The current protocol enables efficient functionalization of unactivated hydrocarbons and nitriles through inert C(sp3)-H bond activation under mild reaction conditions. O-substituted NHPI derivatives are generated in good yields under metal-free conditions.

Abstract:Sonogashira-type cross-couplings of functionalized heterocyclic halides with terminal alkynes were performed efficiently at room temperature. The heteroaryl halides were easily prepared from the corresponding heterocyclic compounds. The catalytic system tolerated a very broad scope of substrates; oxazoles, thiazoles, and furans participate in this type of reaction for the first time. This reaction provides an efficient method for the direct functionalization of heterocycles.

Abstract:An efficient copper-catalyzed method has been developed for Sonogashira couplings of aryl halides with terminal alkynes in water. The protocol uses inexpensive CuBr as the catalyst, 1,10-phenanthroline as the ligand, tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as the phase-transfer catalyst, environmentally friendly water as the solvent, and various internal alkynes were synthesized in good to excellent yields.
