Abstract:Phosphoric rare earth-containing penta-sil type zeolite (noted as ZRP-1) is a good support for preparation of Mo/HZRP-1 catalyst, which is active for methane dehydrogenation and aromatization, and particularly, is more stable and more active than Mo/HZSM-5 with high Mo loading. Mo loading of about 6% appears to be critical. The initial conversion of CH 4 increases rapidly with increasing Mo loading in the range of 0 to 6% and then only slightly increases in the range of 6% to 20%. Among all the samples, 6%Mo/HZRP-1 shows the best catalytic performance with aromatics selectivity of 81% and coke selectivity of 12% when running 30 min. NH 3-TPD of Mo/HZRP-1 catalyst with different Mo loadings revealed that both area of low and high temperature desorption peaks decreased with the increase of Mo loading. It is found that the yield of benzene, toluene and naphthalene linearly correlated with the relative acid amount on 20%Mo/HZRP-1 calcined at different temperatures. Therefore, all kinds of acid sites may play roles in methane dehydrogenation and aromatization. It is also suggested that the Mo loading, the nature of Mo species, the acidity and the relative acid amount all are key points in the reaction and coke formation.
