Abstract:The 3D netlike coordination polymer of Zn II with benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic acid (H3BIDC), [Zn(HBIDC) x H2O]n was synthesized by the hydrothermal method through self-assembling. The crystal structure of complex 1 was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis and IR spectra, and we also studied the fluorescence properties of complex 1 in DMSO and in the solid state with UV-Vis absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence lifetime. Complex 1 has blue luminescence in solutions of DMSO with emission band at 481 nm; and has blue luminescence in the solid state at room temperature with a strong emission band at 493 nm, and these all can be attributed to the pi* --> pi transition based on the benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxy acid. The experimental results indicate that complex 1 displays higher fluorescence quantum efficiency and can be used as a potential blue luminescence material.

Abstract:Four new nickel and copper complexes [ML{SSP(OC 10 H 7 1) 2} 2], where M=Ni(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ); L=5,7,7,12,14,14 hexamethyl 1,4,8,11 tetraazacyclotetradeca 4,11 diene(hmtade) or 5,7,7,12,14,14 hexamethyl 1,4,8,11 tetraazacyclotetradecane(hmta); SSP(OC 10 H 7 1) 2=O,O′ bis(1 naphthy)dithiophosphate, were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, infrared spectra, electronic spectra and TG DTA thermal analysis. The complexes are non electrolytes in DMSO. O,O′ bis(1 naphthyl) dithiophosphate ligand that behaves in monodentate fashion coordinates to metal ion.

Abstract:Three dimethyltetraphenylsiloles (DMTPSs) symmetrically substituted on their 2,5-positions with electron-accepting (A), i.e. aldehyde (ALD) and dicyanovinyl (DCV) or donating (D), i.e. diphenylamine (DPA) moieties were designed and synthesized via facile reaction procedures. The propeller-shaped luminogens exhibit aggregation-induced/enhanced emission characteristics with high quantum yields up to 74.0% in the solid state, and are thermally stable, showing high degradation temperatures and melting points up to 388 and 246 degrees C, respectively. Thanks to the contained A or D moieties, the siloles show intriguing solvatochromism: DMTPS-ALD exhibits almost no response to solvents due to the balance of electron affinities of the aldehyde and the silole core. Whereas, DMTPS-DCV and DMTPS-DPA possess outward intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) from the silole core and the phenyl rings on its 3,4-positions to dicyanovinyl groups, and inward ICT from diphenylamine groups to the silole core, respectively, showing positive solvatochromism. A multilayer organic light-emitting diode using DMTPS-DPA among the luminogens as an emitter layer shows the highest performance with turn-on voltage, maximum luminance, current, power, and external efficiencies of 3.1 V, 13405 cd m(-2), 8.28 cd A(-1), 7.88 lm W-1, and 2.42%, respectively. Furthermore, DMTPS-DPA can also serve in hole-transporting layers because of its high hole-mobility. Therefore, the incorporation of a triphenylamine moiety into a silole system not only changes the classical aggregation-caused quenching fluorophore into AEE-active DMTPS-DPA, another example of "turning stone into gold", but also enhances the hole-transporting ability of siloles.

Abstract:A new planar binuclear bisphthalocyaninato- metal - planar hexa- tert- butylbisphthalocyaninato dicobalt (II) was synthesized by the reaction of 4-tert-butylphthalic anhydride with pyromellitic dianhydride, urea and CoCl2. 6H(2)O. This is a new synthesis method (phthalic route): The total yield reaches up to 15%, The synthetic reaction conditions are as follows: appropriate molar ratio of the reactant, reaction in solid phase and without ammonium molybdate as catalyst.

Abstract:Disilanes are organosilicon compounds that contain saturated Si-Si bonds. The structural characteristics of Si-Si single bonds resemble those of C-C single bonds, but their electronic structure is more similar to C=C double bonds, as Si-Si bonds have a higher HOMO energy level. These organosilicon compounds feature unique intramolecular σ electron delocalization, low ionization potentials, polarizable electronic structure, and σ-π interaction. It has been demonstrated that the employment of disilane units (Si-Si) is a versatile and effective approach for finely adjusting the photophysical properties of organic materials in both solution and solid state. In this review, we present and discuss the structure, properties, and relationships of novel σ-π-conjugated hybrid architectures with saturated Si-Si σ bonds. The application of disilane-bridged σ-conjugated compounds as optoelectronic, multifunctional solid-state emitters, CPL, non-linear optical, and stimuli-responsive materials are also reviewed.

Abstract:The key building blocks, tetrachlorinated terrylene diimides and the targeted sila-annulated terrylene diimides (Si-TDIs and 2Si-TDIs) were synthesized for the first time. Single-crystal analysis verified the almost planar molecular configurations of both Si-TDIs and 2Si-TDIs. They exhibited intriguing optical properties including red-shifted absorption and near-infrared emission properties with excellent fluorescence quantum yields, as well as precisely controlled HOMO/LUMO energy levels by Si-heteroannualtion. The single-crystal organic field-effect transistors based on 2Si-TDI 5a featuring long and branched alkyl chains demonstrated well-balanced ambipolar transporting properties with electron / hole mobilities of 0.10 / 0.18 cm 2 V −1 s −1 .

Abstract:A novel polymer with quasi-one-dimensional structure of 4,4'-diamino-diphenyl ether bridged polymeric silicon phthalocyanine (I) is synthesized by the condensation polymerization of 4,4'-diamino-diphenyl ether (DDE) monomer and dichloride silicon phthalocyanine (Cl 2 SiPc) monomer. The structure of the polymer (I) is identified by IR subtraction and UV/VIS spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The photoconductivity of the polymer I with quasi-one-dimensional structure is better than that of not only the parent Cl 2 SiPc reactant, but also other polymeric phthalocyanines without one-dimensional structures, and showing one-dimensional effect of molecular structure.

Abstract:Five binuclear half-sandwich cobalt complexes, [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4))Co(CO)I(2)](2)SiMe(2) (3), [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4))Co(S(2)C(2)B(10)H(10))](2)SiMe(2) (4), [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4))] (2)Co(2)(mu(2)-S(2)C(2)B(10)H(10))SiMe(2) (5), [(eta(5)-C(5)H(3))CoI(2)](mu-I)[(eta(5)-C(5)H(3))Co(CO)I](SiMe(2))(2) (8), [(eta(5)-C(5)H(3))Co(S(2)C(2)B(10)H(10))](2)(SiMe(2))(2) (9), were successfully synthesized in moderate yield by the reactions of corresponding ligands, (C(5)H(5))(2)SiMe(2) (1) and (C(5)H(4))(2)(SiMe(2)) 2 (6), respectively. The molecular structures of 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9 was determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis, which distinctly depict various molecular structures containing the Cp rings and the metal centers with halide or 1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane-1,2-dithiolato ligands. For the (eta(5)-C(5)H(4))(2)SiMe(2) complexes, coordination of the fragments CpCo favors a exo conformation. With the rigid structure of the di-bridged ligand (C(5)H(4))(2)(SiMe(2))(2), only cis isomers of the corresponding (eta(5)-C(5)H(3))(2)(Si(2)Me(2))(2) complexes are formed. Abstract:A new 2-D inorganic-organic hybrid constructed from mixed-valence Cu(I/II) ions and mixed ligands, [(Cu4CuII)-Cu-I(sip)(2)(bipy)(4)(H2O)(2)](n) (H(3)sip = 5-sulfoisophthalic acid, bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine), has been synthesized and characterized by IR, TGA, XPS, EPR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Two different kinds of chains in the compound constructed from [CuO4] planar squares and [CuN2O] triangulars, respectively, further interconnect together to give rise to an interesting 2-D layer framework. Abstract:The crystallization of 2,3-dihydro-thieno[3,4-b][1,4] dioxine-5,7-dicarboxylic acid (H2tddc) with divalent transitional metal (Co, Ni, Zn, Cd) or with tervalent lanthanide metal (Sm) and with mixed ligand 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bipy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (1,10-phen) formed six new complexes: [Co(C8H4O6S)·3H2O] (1), [Co(C8H4O6)(1,10-phen)(H2O)]·H2O (2), [Ni(C8H4O6S)(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)]·3H2O (3) [Sm(C8H4O6S)(NO3)(H2O)4]·2H2O (4), [Zn(C8H4O6S)(H2O)3] (5), and [Cd2(C8H4O6S)2(4,4′-bipy)2] (6). The structures of these six crystals have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, which revealed that complexes 1, 4, 5 are all one-dimensional chain structures and they self-assemble into three-dimensional super-molecules via the hydrogen bond interactions and π–π stacking interactions, 2 is also a one-dimensional chain structure but still self-assembles into one-dimensional double-chains, the complex 3 has two-dimensional undulating parallelogram grid structure extended along the bc-plane, the crystal of 6 is a 3D threefold interpenetration topology framework with 46638 nodes. The photoluminescent properties of the H2tddc ligand and the six compounds have been measured in the solid state at room temperature. Free ligand has no luminescence, while its complexes 1, 4, and 6 all exhibit intense photoluminescence which implies that these complexes may be excellent candidates for potential photoactive materials.

Abstract:The title tetranuclear copper(II) complex, diaquabis[ dimethylglyoximato(2-)]bis[dimethylglyoximato(1-)]bis(phenanthroline) tetracopper(II)bis[dimethylglyoximato(2-)]bis[dimethylglyoximato(1-)]bis(phenanthroline) tetracopper(II) tetraperchlorate methanol disolvate, [Cu-4(dmg)(2)(Hdmg)(2)(phen)(2)(H2O)(2)][Cu-4(dmg)(2)(Hdmg)(2)(phen)(2)](ClO4)(4).2CH(3)OH (dmg = dimethylglyoximate and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) or [Cu-4(C4H6N2O2)(2)(C4H7N2O2)(2)(C12H8N2)(2)(H2O)(2)][Cu-4(C4H6N2O2)(2)(C4H7N2O2)(2)(C12H8N2)(2)]4)(4).2CH(4)O, with cations containing dimethylglyoximato bridges, has been synthesized and its structure determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction methods. The Cu atoms have two different coordination geometries, distorted square pyramidal and distorted square planar. There are two different cations, each lying on an inversion centre; one contains water molecules coordinated to two of the Cu atoms.

Abstract:A new three-dimensional (3D) extended solid [Cu-I(4,4'-bipy)](4)[delta-Mo8O26] (1) built on {Cu(4,4'-bipy)}(+) (bipy = bipyridine) and isopolymolybdate anion [delta-Mo8O26](4-) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG, X-ray powder diffraction and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 shows six coppers bonded to [delta-Mo8O26](4-) to form inorganic planes which are linked by 4,4'-bipy into a 3D network, the first example of [delta-Mo8O26](4-) six-connected linkage based on an organic-inorganic coordination polymer. A polymorphism of compound 1 was found which has an identical molecular formula but absolutely different structure. The influence of the synthesis conditions of 1 has been studied. Furthermore, the fluorescence of 1 is reported.

Abstract:Two new complexes {(BIQPM)2[Cu4I8]·DMF}n (1) and {(BIQPM)[Cu2(SCN)4]}n (2) [BIQPM = 1,1′Bis(isoquinoline)-1,4-Phenyldimethylenyl] have been synthesized via the self-assembly reaction in solution. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows compound 1 is a tetranuclear oligomer and 2 is a 1D chain. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group C2/m; Compound 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P-1. It is the H-bonds and electrostatic interactions between the organic counteractions and inorganic moieties that do the contribution to the crystal packing. These compounds have been further characterized by IR spectroscopy and thermostability.

Abstract:The preparation of a novel polymer of ethylenediamine bridged polymeric silicon phthalocyanine (I) with quasi-one-dimensional structure is described. The product was obtained by the condensation polymerization of ethylenediamine and silicon dichloride phthalocyanine (Cl(2)SiPc) monomers and was characterized by IR and UV/VIS VIS spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The photoconductivity of the polymer I with the quasi-one-dimensional structure is much better than that of not only the corresponding Cl(2)SiPc monomer, but also other phthalocyanine polymers whose molecules are not one-dimensional structures, and showing the one-dimensional effects of molecular structure of increasing photoconductivity. Abstract:A kind of hydrogenous siloxane oligomers containing phenyl was synthesized by hydrolytic condensation between phenyltrimethoxysilane and tetramethyldisiloxane,in the presence of a solid acid catalyst,and the relative content of 1,3-diphenyl-1,1,3,3-tetrakis(dimethylsiloxy)disiloxane was 42.6%.Then it was rectified under the pressure of 0.665 kPa,and 1,3-diphenyl-1,1,3,3-tetrakis(dimethylsiloxy)disiloxane with a puirty up to 97.5%was obtained.The product was characterized by IR,GC-MS and NMR.Result showed that the structure of the target product matched that of 1,3-diphenyl-1,1,3,3-tetrakis(dimethylsiloxy)disiloxane perfectly.
A Series of Dinuclear Cuprous Iodide Complexes Chelated with 1,2-Bis(diphenylphosphino) Benzene Derivatives: Structural, Photophysical and Thermal Properties

Abstract:Three new bisphosphine ligands, 4-phenyl-1,2-bis.diphenylphosphino) benzene (Ph-dppb), 4-pyrrolyl-1,2bis(diphenylphosphino) benzene (Pr-dppb), and 4,5-dimethoxyl-1,2-bis.diphenylphosphino) benzene (OMe-dppb), were synthesized to coordinate with cuprous iodide (CuI), and compared with 1,2bis(diphenylphosphino) benzene (dppb). Single crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis experiments indicate that three binuclear CuI complexes with formulae of [Cu(mu(2)-I)Ph-dppb](2), [Cu(mu(2)-I)Pr-dppb](2), and [Cu(mu(2)-I)OMe-dppb](2) were obtained, which are the same as the reference complex [Cu(mu(2)-I)dppb](2). The three complexes showed a maximum emission band (lambda(max)) in the range of 484-535 nm which varies in the electron effect of the substituted groups (i.e. methoxy, pyrrolyl, phenyl) on [Cu(mu(2)-I)dppb](2), and in high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) from 53 to 90% in the solid state. Furthermore, the complexes [Cu(mu(2)-I)Ph-dppb](2) and [Cu(mu(2)-I)Pr-dppb](2) exhibited a thermal decomposition temperature exceeding 380 degrees C. The high PLQY and excellent thermal stability of these CuI complexes imply their great potential application as efficient emitters in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).

Abstract:Fourteen pentamethine and heptamethine indocarbocyanines have been synthesized by a simple and efficient procedure. Some of them are novel. The structure of the compounds was confirmed by elemental analysis, visible/near - infra - red absorption, 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy. The correlation between the constitutions and properties of these dyes has been studied.
