Abstract:AIM: To investigate zinc (Zn2+) modulation of glycine (Gly)-activated whole-cell currents in acutely dissociated rat sacral dorsal commissural nucleus (SDCN) neurons. METHOD: Using nystatin-perforated patch recording configuration. RESULT: Zn2+ depressed Gly-activated whole-cell currents in a concentration-dependent manner. CONCLUSION: Zn2+ modulates Gly-activated currents in a monophasic way in SDCN. Higher concentrations of Zn2+ (≥ μmol · L-1) depress Gly responses, but lower concentrations (<10 μmol · L-1) have no effects.
