Abstract:An integrated method is proposed to measure pulp consistency and pulp flow, which is based on the utilization of a mechanical consistency sensor. Pulp consistency is sparsely decomposed by sparse atoms with scale properties to catch flow-velocity information in order to compute flow velocity, and then the velocity is used to compensate the consistency measured value. Sparse representation is conducted on the consistency signal by sparse atoms that have scale properties and scale-free properties, respectively, to eliminate consistency noise and obtain pulp consistency with high precision. The experimental results show that the method that only employs a consistency sensor to measure pulp consistency and pulp flow simultaneously has advantages such as high precision, strong rapidity and applicability.

Abstract:Considering the low measurement precision of pulp consistency by dynamics measuring method,it is proposed to research non-line- ar and time variation property of pulp consistency sensor,along with randomness of pulp consistency signal.Based on this research,consis- tency trend signal of pulp is separated with random consistency signal and measurement noise is filtered using Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT),then polynomial is established by utilizing the optimization ability of least squares method to estimate non-linear of consistency sen- sor.The application of foregoing method in the papermaking process has shown its good performance.

Abstract:A novel method of measuring flow velocity is put forward, which need no equipment or hardware. Utilizing the Doppler-effect that pulp flow velocity (PFV) causes effect upon pulp consistency noise signal, we can determine PFV carrying out time-frequency analysis of the noise of pulp consistency signal on the basis of pulp consistency measurement. The detailed calculating steps are proposed, firstly, noise signal is separated from pulp consistency signal, then it is analyzed by means of the short time power spectrum (STPS) or wavelet transform (WT), finally the PFV can be obtained according to the scale change of STPS or the period change of NW. The corresponding tests show that the measurement method is feasible with high precision.

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of low accuracy and high price of pulp-flow meter currently used,a novel measuring method based on cross-correlation theory is proposed.Pulp consistency is separated into steady wavy signal and noise by using frequency analysis,cross-correlation analysis and wavelet analysis.Wavy signal is taken as flow sign of pulp in view of its property of high frequency and broad band.The up-stream and down-stream consistencies are sampled and cross-correlated in order to divide wavy signals from noise.The pulp-flow is indirectly calculated through searching maximum cross-correlation function and corresponding peak time.FFT and IFFT algorithm are used to decrease calculating workload.The experimental results show that the method can not only improve measuring accuracy and EMC capacity,but also reduce price of equipment.

Abstract:For the pulp flow measurement equipment cost is high, the measuring conditions demanding and low accuracy of mea-surement problem, put forward new pulp flow soft measurement method based on sparse decomposition. Using the sparse de-composition technology, based on the characteristics of the pulp concentration inherent noise, adaptive to establish a complete at-om library, with a complete library and best atoms to sparse representation of the pulp concentration inherent noise, it is conclud-ed that the pulp flow value. Experimental results show the feasibility of this method, real-time and accuracy.

Abstract:Composite board is used widely in industrial product, such as the bearing board which is made up of steel board layer, copperized layer, metal powder layer and plastic layer is widely used in the filed of aeronautic industry, automation, metallurgy industry, the measurement precision of each layer's thickness is affected by the layer thickness, material and the working condition, it also determines the precision and life of bearings. This paper develops an online condition monitoring and measuring system for composite board thickness measurement under the real working condition, this system solves the problem of thickness measurement of different type of board after the process of high temperature sintering, spreading metal powder thickness, spreading plastic and finishing roll by using of several different methods. The online condition monitoring and measuring system can be used to measure rough board, slick board, and metal, nonmetal board. The measurement signal can be read from the local industry apparatus after pretreatment of sensing, detecting, transmitting and temperature compensating. This system has the function of bar graph displaying, error alarming and marking, data analysis and management; the precision is 0.01 mm. Because of the real-time data acquisition, reliable system operation, exact error alarming, convenient module combination, credible monitoring and measuring result and friendly man-machine interface. the online condition monitoring and measuring system will be widely applied in the precision measurement of composite board.

Abstract:A novel technique of measuring pulp suspension flow velocity (PSFV) is put forward, which use not flow sensor but consistency sensor. Utilizing the Doppler-effect that PSFV causes an effect upon the signal of pulp fiber consistency (PFC), PSFV can be determined carrying out time-frequency analysis (such as short time power spectrum (STPS) or wavelet transform (WT) to the noise of PFC signal on the basis of PFC measurement. The corresponding tests show that this measurement method is feasible with high precision.

Abstract:A new method for online measurement of pulp Kappa number by means of near infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and support vector machine (SVM) modeling has been developed in this paper. The near infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy of 45 Chinese red pine wood pulp samples was acquired. Selecting the absorption rates in 15 vibration absorption peaks of each sample and using dynamic independent component analysis (DICA) to distill the characters of input sample data, the pulp Kappa number predictive model based on SVM was built. From the whole 45 samples, 35 samples was selected to be the calibration set, and the predictive set consisted of the other 10 samples was used to validate the the pulp Kappa number predictive model. The external validation standard deviation is 0.26 for pulp Kappa number predictive model based on SVM, and the determining factor is 0.93 for the model. The internal cross validation standard deviation is 0.22 for pulp Kappa number predictive model based on SVM, and the determining factor is 0.96 for the model. To analyze the effectiveness of SVM method used to build the pulp Kappa number predictive model, the pulp Kappa number predictive model based on linear regression (LR) was also established. The external validation standard deviation is 0.45 for the model based on linear regression (LR), and the determining factor is 0.81 for the model. The internal cross validation standard deviation is 0.41 for the model based on linear regression (LR), and the determining factor is 0.85 for the model. For the 10 test samples, the pulp Kappa number predictive model based on Linear regression (LR) and the model based on SVM all have certain predictive accuracy, but the later higher. The experiment results not only show the feasibility and effectiveness of the near infrared measurement method for pulp Kappa number, but also validate that the pulp Kappa number predictive model based on SVM is more accurate and robust than linear regression model.

Abstract:Concrete pump is a modern construction device which pumps concrete continuouly depending on the pressure in the pipe. The online output mesurement system is a significant function of the concrete pump in the future. The pressure of main hydraulic oil and the displacement of concrete cylinder are studied based on the operating principle of hydraulic piston type concrete pump. The mathematical model of the output of concrete pump is proposed; the key issues which influence real-time pumping efficiency are analyzed; and the alteration of pressure signal wave of the main cylinder oil pressure in a circle is researched Three measurement methods, whose principles are expatiated respectively, are brought forward based on the pressure signal, the displcacement signal, and the conbination of the two signals. In addition, the experiments are done using devices designed by ourselves. The results have shown that the precision of the third method is the highest and fractional error is 0.39%.

Abstract:According to the low accuracy problems exist in the current practical pulp flows measurement,a new pulp flows measurement method was proposed.This method used the flows information contained in the noise of concentration signal producing by pulp concentration sensor,time-frequency analysis of the noise of pulp concentration signal was carried out with Wigner-Willie distribution through the DSP,and the pulp flows was calculated with its characteristic frequency.This method can realize the measurement of pulp concentration and pulp flows.The experiments results show that the measurement accuracy can up to 0.5%,and the method has excellent dynamic performance.

Abstract:The measurement of emulsion pump comprehensive performance is an important means to develop new product and guarantee product quality. Based on requirement analysis, an automatic measurement system of comprehensive performance for emulsion pump was designed and implemented. A variety of sensors are used to collect product running performance data automatically. Automatic loading is realized through using automatic control. Virtual instrument technique is adopted to realize data processing, analysis, management and measurement process automation. The developed experiment and measurement system has great driving effect for increasing product quality, updating product design level and decreasing new product development time.

Abstract:On-line monitoring technologies in CNC machining operations eliminate post-process quality control, and are crucial for improving productivity and reliability, reducing production times and costs, and enhancing automation of the process. The appropriate selection of sensors, signal feature extraction methods, and parametric characterization techniques are critical aspects influencing the quality of predictions and system response times. This paper examined four signal feature extraction methods to optimize surface finish monitoring by focusing on the analysis of vibration signals in order to correlate signal statistical measurements and frequency bands with surface roughness. Thus, a single low cost sensor (accelerometer) easily implemented in CNC turning machine was used to make in-process decisions on product surface finish. Two non-advanced signal feature extraction methods (time direct analysis TDA, and power spectral density PSD), and two advanced methods (singular spectrum analysis SSA, and wavelet packet transform WPT) were assessed. The results show that the advanced methods (SSA and WPT) permitted optimum vibration signal feature extraction, but the SSA method exhibited a high computational cost. The WPT provided the excitation ranges that correlate the vibration parametric features with surface finish. The vibration signal and WPT method can be used effectively for real-time surface finish monitoring with high accuracy, reliability, and a low analytical-computational cost in CNC machining. This work is innovative in revealing that not all vibration feature extraction methods are appropriate for the real-time monitoring of surface finish, and that on-line surface quality control is possible with a low cost sensor easily implemented in CNC machine tools.
Soft Sensing Method for the Kappa Number of Pulp Under Complex Working Conditions

Abstract:During the research and application processes of the soft sensing technology for pulp Kappa number, the predicting precision decrease of the soft sensing method under complex conditions based directly on experiential models was observed. To overcome this problem, a new soft sensing method was introduced. In this method, the characteristic information of temperature-rising process extracted by Daubechies wavelet transform was used to classify the producing conditions, and a classified prediction model of Kappa number was then proposed. It was proved by the analysis of 130 sample data from a certain pulping workshop that, under complex working conditions and comparing with the results by the methods based directly on experiential models, better prediction results would be obtained by the proposed method.

Abstract:The method of synchronously measuring vibration and noise is brought forward on paper transmitting system to solve the problem of excessive vibration and noise on paper transmitting system for sheet-fed offset press and then to improve its precision. Paper transmmitting precision is influennced by excessive vibration of paper transmmitting system for sheet-fed offset press, leading to printing trouble of overlap error at a high speed. And noise level of gripper opening and closing teeth is one of the important performance indicators for sheet-fed offset press. Aiming at excessive vibration and noise of paper transmitting system for sheet-fed offset press, the principle and composition was presented in this paper. Moreover measurement at worksite was carried out. By experiment and analysis, it's known that noise level of gripper opening and closing teeth seriously affects sheet-fed offset press. The conclusion acs as the foundation for trouble diagnosis and renewing design of sheet-fed offset press.

Abstract:(1) Background: A new type of capillary refill time measurement system is proposed to be designed to achieve non-invasive, mechanised and standardised measurement of the microcirculatory status of the human body; (2) Methods: First, a mechanical measurement device based on electromagnetic pressurisation technology was designed for the measurement of microcirculation monitoring indexes such as capillary refill time, and the measurement control logic was set based on clinical application scenarios; second, the haemoglobin content in the arterial blood flow in the distal capillary bed was continuously monitored, and a software system was designed for the automatic acquisition, transmission, analysis, computation, and storage of the raw data and noise removal algorithms were proposed for the mutational noise present in the data; finally, healthy adult subjects were recruited to carry out a preliminary clinical observational study to evaluate the reproducibility and reliability of the measured parameters; (3) Results: A capillary refill time meter test machine was developed with good CRT reproducibility, both between different observers and between different numbers of observations for a uniform observer; (4) Conclusions: Rapid non-invasive monitoring of microcirculation has been successfully achieved, making non-invasive monitoring of microcirculation further mechanised and standardised, with the advantages of simple measurement and high accuracy.

Abstract:This paper describes a measurement of lubricant-film thickness in a roller bearing using a new ultrasonic pulser-receiver, which has a maximum pulse repetition rate (PRR) of 100 kHz. The experimental results show that a higher PRR can help to get more measurement points and more details of the oil-film thickness distribution. Furthermore, the influence of rotor vibration response for the oil-film thickness is discussed, which is in keeping with the simulation result. Finally, the limits of the PRR are discussed in detail and the effect of the transducer focal zone size is also observed.

Abstract:A new method for measuring the instantaneous speed during subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) by using the three-phase voltages of AC exciter is proposed. The dynamic features of this measuring method are discussed. By employing the symmetrical relationship of the three-phase voltages, the voltage signals are tripled such that some better dynamic characteristics can be obtained. The error stemmed from the asymmetry of the three-phase armature windings of the AC exciter is discussed and the corresponding correction method is presented. This proposed method needs not any additional speed sensor and hence is convenient for implementation. Moreover, it is insensitive to the transverse vibration and the differential expansion of the rotor. This project is supported by National Key Basic Research Special Fund of China (No. G1998020319).
