Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the influence of early tangential excision within 24 postburn hours on local wound inflammatory response and tissue injury in patients with deep partial thickness burn.METHODS:Twelve patients with deep partial thickness burn were enrolled in the study. Tangential excision was performed within 24 postburn hours. The same wound of a patient was divided into three areas for harvesting tissue samples, i.e. pre-operation, post-operation and non-operation areas. For each patient, the biopsies from the pre-operation area were harvested before tangential excision, while those from post-operation and non-operation areas were harvested during 5 to 7 postburn days (PBDs). The contents of IL-8, MPO and MDA in wound tissue were determined by tissue culture and chemical colorimetry, respectively. HE and Mason's staining were employed to assess the degree of necrosis of the wound tissue.RESULTS:The IL-8, MPO and MDA contents in the local wound tissue after tangential excision were 6.83 +/- 1.85 microg/L, 4.07 +/- 0.87 U/g, and 8.94 +/- 5.66 micromol/g, respectively, which were significantly lower than those from non-operation area (P < 0.01). The inflammatory response in the non-operative wound area was distinct with expansion of necrotic tissue area. In contrast, the local inflammatory response of the wound after tangential excision was ameliorated without the enlargement of necrotic tissue area.CONCLUSION:Tangential excision within 24 postburn hours could be beneficial in ameliorating local inflammatory response, and in preventing progressive deepening of the burn wounds, thus it could accelerate wound healing in patients with deep partial thickness burn.

Abstract:Objective To explore the feasibility and to evaluate the effects of tangential excision on deep partial thickness burn wound wilhin 24 h after injury. Methods Tangential excision on wound within 24 h after burn was carried out on 19 patients. Meanwhile, 39 patients suffered similar severe burn under took operation 3 - 5 d post injury as controls. The amount of infused fluid and urine as well as shock signs such as temperature, heart rate during shock period and after wound healing time were observed. The histopathological observation of the wounds between two groups was also carried out. Results It showed that there was no significant difference between two groups in the amount of infused fluid and urine. The average wound healing time (24.67 ±3.38) d significantly less than that (29.77±8.28) d in the control group(P 0. 05), The temperature 2 d after shock lowered down more than the control group. The histopathological observation of the wounds in the study group showed that the inflammatory response was significantly decreased compared with that in the control group (P 0,05) , and the extent of tissue damage became limited. Conclusion The study reveals that tangential excision on deep partial thickness burn wound within 24 h is feasible, which may inhibit excessive inflammatory response and promotes wound healing.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the safety and the clinical effect of the tangential excision of the patients with deep partial thickness burn within 24 postburn hours (PBHs).METHODS:Twelve patients with deep partial thickness burn with the indication for tangential excision, the operation was carried out within 24 PBHs. These patients were designated as group A. Another group of fourteen patients with similar conditions undergoing tangential excision during 4 - 6 PBDs were designated as group B. The amount of fluid infusion during shock stage, the shock signs, the vital signs during recovery period, the urine output, as well as the healing time were compared between the two groups.RESULTS:There was no obvious difference in the amount of fluid infusion and the shock signs between the two groups. There were evident differences in the body temperature and heart rate during recovery period, with the urine output increased dramatically during shock stage in group A when compared with those in group B (P < 0.05-0.01). The average wound healing days in group A were less than that in group B (P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:Tangential excision within 24 PBHs was applicable and safe for the patients with deep partial thickness burn, and wound healing time was thus shortened.
[Use of Heterogeneous Acelluar Dermal Matrix and Autologous Overthin Split-Thickness Skin for Repair of Deep Burn at Articular Sites].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of heterogeneous (swine) acellular dermal matrix (s-ADM) and autologous overthin split-thickness skin (auto-OTS) composite grafting in repair of deep burns at articular sites. METHODS:From May 1999 to April 2000, 19 articular sites in 16 patients, including 14 males and 2 females, were treated. In all the 19 sites of deep burn, the total burn area varied from 2% to 48% and the full-thickness burn area varied from 1% to 35%. After the primary escharectomy (1 to 5 days later) and complete hemostasis, the s-ADM was utilized to cover the exposed articular sites and the auto-OTS was transferred on the surface of sutured s-ADM. The size of s-ADM applied to each patient varied from 25 cm2 to 150 cm2. Regular skin grafting was adopted elsewhere other than the articular site. The survival rate of all skin grafting was evaluated and pathological examination was performed. RESULTS:The survival rate of the composite skin was (90.80 +/- 18.34)%, which was obvious higher than the survival rate of contiguous granulosum skin grafting (P < 0.05) and almost the same with that of snip skin grafting(P > 0.05). The survived composite skin appeared as smooth and soft as normal skin, and the function of articular site almost recovered with neglectable hypertrophic scar. The pathological examination revealed that the normal cell grew into s-ADM with regularly arranged collagen fiber and neovascularization in the matrix. CONCLUSION:The combination of s-ADM and auto-OTS graft is cheap and effective method to cover wound and minimize hypertrophic scar.
Histological observation of the effects of tangential excision within twenty-four postburn hours on the progressive injury of the progression of deep partial thickness burn wound

Abstract:To evaluate the effects of early tangential excision on the prevention of the progression of deep partial thickness burn wound.Twelve burn patients with deep partial thickness burn wound were enrolled and received tangential excision of the burn wound within 24 postburn hours (PBHs). The histological samples were harvested from the wound before and 5 - 7 postoperative days (PODs) after the operation and the wound without operation 5 - 7 postburn days (PBDs). The samples were observed by means of HE staining, Masson's staining and the labelling of Vimentin antigen positive cells by immunohistological skill.The inflammatory reaction of the burn wound without operation aggravated progressively along with that of disease and the tissue necrosis area enlarged. And the residual skin appendages disappeared due to the enhanced inflammatory reaction. The brown area expanded and light green area shrinked by Masson's staining. The Vimentin antigen positive cell count decreased significantly. But in the burn wound being performed tangential excision within 24 PBHs, focal inflammatory reaction exhibited evident ligher than that in burn wound without operation. Moreover, there appeared fresh granulation formation and partial epithelial coverage with no enlarged necrotic tissue area in the operated wound when compared with that in non-operated wound (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the light green area exhibited no obvious shrinking by Masson's staining and the Vimentin antigen positive cell count was much more in the operation area than that in non-operative area (P < 0.05).It might be beneficial to the host to perform tangential excision within 24 PBHs, which could remove burn wound necrotic tissue in time and hamper the progression of tissue degenerative injury. The healing process of deep partial thickness burn wound was therefore accelerated.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the influence of necrotic tissue on progressive injury in deep partial thickness burn wounds.Methods Tissue specimens were cultured both for estimation of IL-8, EGF, bFGF, PDGF-AB and histopathological examination, from the pre-operation, post-operation, and non-operation wounds from seven patients with deep partial thickness burn.Results In seven specimens from the non-operation group, IL-8 release increased compared with those in the post-operation group ( P < 0.001), while the levels of EGF, bFGF, PDGF-AB release were lower than those in the post-operation group. Histopathological examination revealed that in the non-operation group, the degree of neutrophil infiltration was enhanced, the extent of tissue necrosis enlarged, and residual skin appendages disappeared. In contrast, in the post-operation group, the degree of inflammatory response was decreased, with the formation of fresh granulation tissue and epithelialization.Conclusion This study suggests that the presence of necrotic tissue could be the inhibitory factor in the wound healing process, as it might cause tissue progressive injury leading to the delay of wound healing. To promote wound healing, active tangential excision is recommended to remove necrotic tissue.
Interventional effect of Jiedu Shaoshang ointment on expression of transforming growth factor beta, microvessel generation and collagen anabolism during deep second-degree burn wound healing

Abstract:AIM: To observe the effect of Jiedu Shaoshang ointment, which has certain curative effect at superficial Ⅱ degree and deep Ⅱ degree, on transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), micro-vascularization and collagen synthesis, and explore its possible effect pathway. METHODS: The experiment was conducted in Animal Center of Sun Yat-sen University and surgical Laboratory of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from September to December in 2004. Ten little pigs were used to make deep second-degree burn models and all these wounds were randomly divided into Jiedu Shaoshang ointment observational group and blank control group. Wound healing time was recorded; wound bed tissues were got on the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th days respectively after burns. Expression of TGF-β was detected using inmmunohistochemistry streptavidin biotin-peroxidase labeled method. Five sights were selected under 400 power light microscope, and 100 cells were observed in every sight. It was positive staining in plasma or (and) nucleus. Quantity of positive cells was counted. Vascular endothelial cells were labeled with CD34-anti-immunohistochemistry. Filleting was observed fully under low power microscope (10×10) so as to define highest density of tissue vessel, and then counting was done under high power microscope (10×40)and the number of microvessel was recoded at the 5 sights. Average was gained; Density of microvessel was counted. Content of tissue collagen was detected with hydroxyproline method. Wound healing time, positive expressive rate of TGF β , counting of microvessel density at wound and content of collagen were compared between experimental group and control group. RESULTS: Ten included animals were all involved in the result analysis, no drop-out animal. ①Healing time in the observational group was earlier significantly than that in the control group (11.0±1.5),(14.0±2.5)days, t =4.08,P < 0.001. ②The expression of TGF β was at inflammatory cell and epithelial cells of hair follicle. At the 3rd and 5th days after injury, the positive expressive rate of TGF β was higher significantly than that in the control group (25.0±7.5)%,(11.0±4.6)%;(45.7±8.3)%,(24.6±7.4)%,t=3.61,6.34,P < 0.01. The peak of expression of TGF β appeared earlier and stronger in the observational group than that in the control group. ③The counting of microvessel density at the 5th day was higher markedly in the observational group than that in the control group (40.6±2.4),(32.6±2.4) piece,t=2.69,P < 0.05. ④The content of collagen at the 7th and 9th days was higher remarkably than that in the control group (2.45±0.72),(1.97±0.15) g/mg;(3.51±0.46),(2.85±0.13) g/mg;t=3.61,6.79,P < 0.01. CONCLUSION: The Jiedu Shaoshang ointment can promote wound healing, which may be related to the elevation of expression of TGF-β, acceleration of hyperplasia of vessel and the synthesis of collagen in later stage.
Acceleration of deep Ⅱ° burn healing by using recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor gel

Abstract:目的探索重组人粒细胞巨噬细胞集落刺激因子(rhGM-CSF)凝胶剂能否促进烧伤患者深Ⅱ度创面愈合.方法收集多中心研究中的其中两个单位资料,以深Ⅱ度烧伤患者作为试验对象,进行多中心随机双盲对照试验.试验组60例100 cm2创面使用100 μg rhGM-CSF凝胶剂,对照组30例使用基质安慰剂.观察其创面愈合情况.结果试验组深Ⅱ度创面愈合时间为(14.71±0.48) d,较对照组(20.48±1.09) d明显缩短(P＜0.01).试验组14,20,28 d的创面愈合率分别为(84.55±25.20)%、(97.55±8.19)%和(100.00±0.00)%,也较对照组同期创面愈合率(44.44±35.90)%、(80.19±24.00)%和(96.67±12.09)%均明显提高(P均＜0.01).未见与受试药物有关的不良反应. 结论 rhGM-CSF凝胶剂能促进烧伤患者深Ⅱ度创面愈合.且对100 cm2创面使用是安全的。

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the influence of dermal template on the expressions of signal transduction protein Smad 3 and transforming growth factor beta1 and its receptor during wound healing process in patients with deep burns.METHODS:Twenty burn patients with excision of full thickness burn in the extremities were enrolled in the study and divided into two groups, i.e. template interfering group (E, n = 20, grafting of dermal template [allogeneic acellular dermal matrix] with razor thin autoskin) and control group (C, n = 20, grafting of razor thin autoskin only). The contralateral side served as the self-control. Tissue samples from the burn wounds were harvested at 1, 2, 3 and 4 post-operative weeks (POW) for immunohistochemistry staining. The positive expression rates of TGF-beta1, TbetaRI, TbetaRII and Smad3 proteins were determined by image analysis system.RESULTS:The positive expressions of TGFbeta1, TbetaRI, TbetaRII and signal transduction protein Smad 3 in the tissue samples in both groups could be identified during 1 approximately 4 POW, and they diminished thereafter with the process of wound healing. The expression rate of TGF-beta1 in E group was (13.08 +/- 4.65)% at 1 POW and (9.03 +/- 1.89)% at 4 POW. The positive expression rate of above indices in E group was obviously lower than that in C group in corresponding time points (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:The expression levels of TGFbeta1, TbetaRI, TbetaRII and Smad 3 protein in deep burn wounds could be lowered by mixed grafting of dermal template with razor thin autoskin, which might be beneficial in ameliorating of scar hyperplasia in the burn wound.

Abstract:Objectives: Severe burn treatment remains challenging. Research has investigated the efficacy of stem cells and stromal vascular fraction (SVF) in many types of injuries. SVF has advantages for its heterogenous population of cells and avoidance of culturing and ethical issues. SVF can be isolated either enzymatically or mechanically. Enzymatically isolated SVF reduced inflammation and enhanced neovascularization and re-epithelization in the treatment of burn injury. This study highlighted the efficacy of applying mechanically isolated SVF on the early inflammatory phase of deep partial-thickness burn by investigating toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway. Methods: 30 male Wistar rats with deep partial-thickness burns were assigned into: the control group, silver sulfadiazine (SSD) cream group, and mechanically isolated SVF group. Morphological, histopathological evaluation of inflammation, and immunohistochemical analysis for (TLR4, TNF-α, IL‐1β, and IL-6) were evaluated for the first eight days post-treatment. Results: Morphologically, the SVF group significantly reduced edema and increased wound bed dryness on day one compared to the control group (P=0.0001) and to the SSD group (P=0.001). Histopathologically, the SVF group significantly reduced inflammation four days post-treatment compared with the control group (P=0.045). The SVF group significantly reduced TLR4 protein expression on days four and eight post-treatment compared with the control group (P= 0.001, P= 0.042, respectively). The TNF-α protein expression in the SVF group was significantly lower on days four and eight post-treatment compared with the control group (P= 0.046, P= 0.046, respectively) and with the SSD group (P= 0.008, P= 0.001, respectively). The IL‐1β expression was significantly reduced in the SVF group compared to the control group on day four post-treatment (P= 0.017). There were no significant differences in IL-6 expressions between all groups on both days. Conclusion: The mechanical isolation of SVF has an early anti-inflammatory impact on deep partial-thickness burn injury. This effect could be through inhibiting TLR4, TNF-α, and IL‐1β pathways. This could partially explain the mechanism behind SVF efficacy in the healing process of burn injury.
The Influence of Dermal Template on the P53 Gene Expression and Apoptosis During Wound Repairing in Burn Patients

Abstract:Objective To observe dynamically the influence of the application of dermal template on the p53 gene expression and apoptosis during wound repairing in burn patients. Methods Twenty burn patients were enrolled in the study and were divided into experiment (E, n=11) and control (C, n=9) groups. The escharectomy wounds in patients with 3rd degree burn in E group were covered with dermal template overlain with thin split-thickness autograft, while those in C group were covered with thin split-thickness autograft only . Specimens were harvested from wounds of both groups at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th post operative week (POW).The P53 expression and the apoptosis were assessed respectively by immunohistochemistry and by TUNEL kit. The change in cell number was observed after HE staining. Results The P53 expression increased gradually along with the wound healing process from 1st to 4th POW, which was significantly higher than that in C group at 2nd, 3rd, and 4th POW (P0.05) ,and it reached the peak at 4th POW. Fibroblasts underwent apoptosis at 1st POW in E group, while apoptosis of the endothelial cells occurred mainly at 2nd and 3rd POW. There was obvious difference in the rate of apoptosis between the two groups in 3rd and 4th POW (P0.05). The numbers of fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells in E group were smaller than those in C group. Conclusion Application of dermal template overlain with thin split-thickness autograft to wounds could induce P53 expression and cell apoptosis, thereby reduce scar formation, resulting in improvement of the quality of wound healing.
Topical application of anti-inflammatory agents on burn wounds and their effect on healing

Abstract:Advancements in the treatment of burns have considerably improved overall survival rates, but they have also highlighted several long-term sequelae related to the injury. Hypertrophic scars can impair function, reduce quality of life, and require multiple procedures as well as physical therapy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of topical application of anti-inflammatory drugs in the treatment of burns. Up to 15 deep-partial thickness burns were created on the dorsum of four anesthetized swine. Subsequently, the burn wounds were randomized to receive amiloride, celecoxib, dexamethasone or minocycline mixed in a hydrogel. Silver sulfadiazine cream and blank hydrogel acted as controls. The animals were followed for 90 days and the wounds were assessed on days 3, 7, 14, 28 and 90 post-burn. Assessments were performed using photographs (macroscopic healing, contraction), laser-speckle imaging (blood perfusion), 3D camera (scarring, pigmentation), and histology (inflammation, burn depth, epidermal maturation). Inflammation was present in all burn wound histology specimens and peaked on day 7 in all groups. Regardless of the treatment the burns progressed and were deeper on day 7 in comparison to day 3. The burns were 50 - 80 % healed by day 14, but no significant differences were observed. No differences in epidermal thickness, rete ridges, contraction, hypopigmentation, or scar elevation were seen on day 90. Topical anti-inflammatories did not significantly decrease inflammation or mitigate burn wound progression in deep partial thickness burns in pigs. Also, no significant differences in wound healing or quality of healing were observed.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the therapeutic effect of infrared radiation (IR) on the skin scald in rats.METHODS:Thirty-nine male Wistar rats were used in the study, and they were randomly divided into normal control (C, n = 13), scald (S, n = 13, no treatment after scalding) and treatment (T, n = 13, with IR radiation treatment for 5 days since 2nd post scalding day (PSD) groups. The rats in S and T groups were subjected to deep partial thickness scalding on the back. The cutaneous tissue samples from rat wound in each group were harvested on the 3rd and 7th PSD for pathomorphological examination. DNA synthesis in wound tissue was analyzed by 3H-TdR incorporation method, and the vascular permeability in cutaneous tissue, degree of tissue edema and MDA content were determined by corresponding methods.RESULTS:Epidermal exfoliation, cutaneous ulcer, follicular atrophy and damage, and massive formation of collagen were identified in the skin wound of rats in S group on the 7th PSD compared with C group. The skin in T group was smooth with slight atrophy and a few collagen fibers in follicles. The 3H-TdR incorporation amount in the rats in T group (1856.33 +/- 343.81 cpm/mg) on the 7th PSD was significantly higher than that in S group (1353.95 +/- 274.48 cpm/mg) (P < 0.01). The tissue permeability, edema degree and MDA content in the cutaneous tissue in S group were obviously higher than those in group C, while these indices were markedly lower in T group when compared with those in S group (P < 0.01-0.001).CONCLUSION:Treatment with IR seemed to be beneficial to the promotion of skin tissue metabolism and tissue repair.

Abstract:Objectives: To observe the clinical effect of recombinant human alkaline fibroblast growth factor (rh-bFGF) combined with collagen sponge in the treatment of maxillofacial deepⅡ degree burn. Methods: From January 2019 to January 2022, 96 patients with maxillofacial deep Ⅱ degree burns were randomly divided into a control group (N=48) and an observation group (N=48). The observation group was treated with rh-bFGF and collagen sponge after debridement, whereas the control group was treated with silver sulfadiazine ointment after debridement. The healing rate and healing time of the wounds were observed, interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, IL-10, epidermal growth factor (EGF), endothelial growth factor growth factor (VEGF), and metalloproteinase tissue inhibitor 1 (TIMP-1) were measured. Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) was used to evaluate the local scar at 6 months after wound healing in both groups. Results: On the 10th, 14th, and 21st day of treatment, the wound healing rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), the wound healing time in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05), and on the 14th day of treatment, the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of IL-10 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of EGF, VEGF, and TIMP-1 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05), and the scores of VSS in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Rh-bFGF combined with collagen sponge can decrease the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 and increase the levels of IL-10, which can control the inflammation effectively, at the same time, it can increase the level of EGF, VEGF, and TIMP-1, promote wound healing, and reduce scar hyperplasia. The treatment protocol is simple, safe, effective, and suitable for clinical application.

Abstract:The interaction of tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) and its receptor fibroblast growth factor inducible 14 (Fn14) participates in inflammatory responses, fibrosis, and tissue remodeling, which are central in the repair processes of wounds. Fn14 is expressed in main skin cells including dermal fibroblasts. This study was designed to explore the therapeutic effect of TWEAK on experimental burn wounds and the relevant mechanism underlying such function. Third-degree burns were introduced in two BALB/c mouse strains. Recombinant TWEAK was administrated topically, followed by the evaluation of wound areas and histologic changes. Accordingly, the downstream cytokines, inflammatory cell infiltration, and extracellular matrix synthesis were examined in lesional tissue. Moreover, the differentiation markers were analyzed in cultured human dermal fibroblasts upon TWEAK stimulation. The results showed that topical TWEAK accelerated the healing of burn wounds in wild-type mice but not in Fn14-deficient mice. TWEAK strengthened inflammatory cell infiltration, and exaggerated the production of growth factor and extracellular matrix components in wound areas of wild-type mice. Moreover, TWEAK/Fn14 activation elevated the expression of myofibroblastic differentiation markers, including alpha-smooth muscle actin and palladin, in cultured dermal fibroblasts. Therefore, topical TWEAK exhibits therapeutic effect on experimental burn wounds through favoring regional inflammation, cytokine production, and extracellular matrix synthesis. TWEAK/Fn14 activation induces the myofibroblastic differentiation of dermal fibroblasts, partially contributing to the healing of burn wounds.

Abstract:The basic and clinical research in wound healing have made great progress in China in the past 50 years. The method of "intermingle skin transplantation" which was first advocated by surgeons of Ruijin Hospital in 1966 greatly reduced the amount of autologous donor skin, thus making the coverage of an extensive burn wound possible. This method is also known as "Chinese therapy". In 1986, doctors of Jishuitan Hospital reported successful coverage of an extensive burn wound with microautografts and allogeneic skin. The basic research of wound healing has been carried out since 1992, a series of studies showed the characteristics of biological behaviours of cells in concern, extracellular matrix and growth factor, the mechanism underlying progressive injury in deep second burn wound, the effect of "skin island" and the local immune tolerance induced by it (which are the key factors of intermingle transplantation). The induction of local immune tolerance has now become the research hot subject of skin transplantation immunology. Stem cell research in the field of wound healing has been extensively carried out. The theory of "dermal template defection" has been proposed as one of the mechanisms of scar formation. On the other hand, great progress has been achieved in the treatment of burns on the basis of clinical researches. Doctors of PLA 304 hospital found that excision of eschar on patients with extensive deep burn injury at early shock stage greatly decreased the occurrence of complications and mortality. Doctors of Ruijin Hospital reported that healing of deep second burn wound could be improved by tangential excision of burn eschar within 24 hours after burn injury. Doctors of Xiangya Hospital reported patients suffering from deep burns of the hands got satisfied functional restoration when treated with tangential excision of eschar while degraded dermal tissue could be retained with transplantation of autoskin grafts.
Effects of Burn Oil of Chinese Medicinal Herbs on Wound Healing in Scalded Rats

Abstract:AIM: To investigate the effects of burn oil of Chinese medicinal herbs on wound healing in scalded rats. METHODS: Three deep-Ⅱ-degree circular skin wounds with a diameter of 2.5 cm were prepared in the back of rats and were treated respectively with burn oil of Chinese medicinal herbs, zinc sulfadiasine cream and matrix ointment 1 time per day. The healing of the wounds was observed. The wound tissue samples were harvested at different times for histopathological examination and the content of hydroxyproline, type Ⅰ/Ⅱ collagen ratio and the fibrocyte eyele of the dermal wound were detected by ELISA assay and flow cytometry. RESULTS : The application of burn oil of Chinese medicinal herbs reduced the swelling and effusion and shortened the healing time of the wound with no wound infection. Pathological examination showed that bum oil of Chinese medicinal herbs alleviated topical inflammation. All layers of derma were well-differentiated. Effect of hydroxyproline and wound type Ⅰ/Ⅲ collagen ratio showed that bum oil of Chinese medicinal herbs promoted the collage hyperplasy of wounds and palliated scars. The observation of the fibrocyte cycle showed that burn oil of Chinese medicinal herbs promoted the dermal fibrocyte proliferation. CONCLUSION: Burn oil of Chinese medicinal herbs promotes the wound healing in scalded rats.
