Abstract:On the basis of thorough analysis of NC code's characteristics, A general NC code translator is realized by the custom-made mode. We present a general structure of the NC code translator and discuss some key realizing techniques for NC code translation based on combining compiler and NC code translating theories, aided by template techniques in CAD/CAM.

Abstract:For the application of STEP-NC in NC system, an STEP-NC code translator is exploited. Firstly, summarizes the limitation of conventional standard ISO6983 and the superiority of STEP-NC. After an analysis on two different generating methods of STEP-NC program, introduces the exploited STEP-NC code translator based on ISO14649. According to inner logical relation, the code translator is composed by six functional modules, an operating principle chart is presented, function and realizing method of every module is disserted on. At last, exampled with a program which includes planar face, pocket, slot, Bezier surface and replicate feature of round hole, planning the whole toolpath of the program using extracted information about workingstep, feature and operation by the exploited STEP-NC code translator. A cutting simulation is made to the toolpath and the workpiece model. The result proves the feasibility of the STEP-NC code translator.

Abstract:To realize application of the STandard for the Exchange of Product model data -compliant Numerical Control data interface(STEP-NC) in NC system,an STEPNC code translator was developed.Firstly,working principles of the STEP-NC code translator was introduced.According to inner logical relationship,the code translator was composed of six functional modules.Function and realizing method for each module was expatiated.Three key technologies of the STEP-NC code translator including design of class library,reading method of parameters in toolpath planning and transition of STEP-NC coordinate system were discussed in detail.Finally,combined with a STEP-NC program example,the whole toolpath of the program was planned by the proposed STEP-NC code translator.A cutting simulation was conducted to the toolpath and the workpiece model by STEP-NC milling machining simulation system.Result demonstrated feasibility of the developed STEP-NC code translator.

Abstract:A method of programming for CMM measurement based on CAD/CAM system is presented.First,the measuring path is planned,and the numerical control(NC)codes are generated through the CAD/CAM system.Then,the data of CMM controlling and measurement are obtained by transforming the NC codes.Finally,the CMM works according to these data after having read them.The CMM automatic programming system for data processing based on the NC code is developed.Application results verify the validity of the method.

Abstract:A novel structure of the interpreter for the special vendors using different standards was presented.A new structure was proposed for the purpose of reducing the time while developing a new interpreter for computer numerical control(CNC) system.The interpreter was divided into three sub-modules called input data,internal data interface and functions.Numerical control codes were formally expressed in internal data interface so as to separate the other two sub-modules.The computation in the interpreter could be independent of the input data format because of this internal interface.Relationship between the numerical control codes and features was studied.Numerical control codes were sorted based feature.And gathering concept was introduced in functions sub-module to export data by means of this classification.This method facilitates functions independence.The results show that sub-modules could be reused with this structure.The development efficiency of the interpreter could be rapidly improved for different NC program formats.
An Inter-translation Algorithm of NC Program Between Perpendicular and Tilted Head 5-axis Machines

Abstract:With regard to the program translating problem brought by the change of 5-axis equipment in machining complex structural components,an inter-translation algorithm of numerical control(NC)program between perpendicular and tilted head 5-axis machines is presented.First,based on different structures of two 5-axis machines,the relationship between coordinates is established.Second,according to the post-processor and the inverse post-processor methods of NC program with automatic tracking,an inter-translation algorithm for 5-axis machine is proposed.Finally,with the control method of constant cutting time in a single step,an inter-translation algorithm of machining feedrate is given,which realizes the inheritance of program translation to cutting parameters.Experimental results indicate that the algorithm can effectively solve the inter-translation problem of NC program between the perpendicular and the tilted head 5-axis machines.
Master NC Program Design for Variant Parts

Abstract:Aiming at the rapid design issues of NC machining program in the context of mass customization,a kind of master NC program model that fits to be used in part dimension variant design was presented after analyzing the variant design technologies and NC programming technologies. The content and structure of master NC program were analyzed in detail based on the definition and partition of machining feature as well as the design of NC subprogram base. Then the constructing process of master NC program was presented. At the same time, a design guide of master NC program was developed, so master NC program of customized part family can be constructed rapidly through the interaction of human and computer, and the NC machining program generation based on master NC program is realized. Therefore, the NC machining program of variant part can be generated rapidly, and the efficiency and automation level of NC programming are heightened. Finally, an application example was given to verify the feasibility of principles.

Abstract:STEP-NC (ISO 14649) is becoming a promising standard to replace or supplement the conventional G-code programs based on ISO 6983 due to its feature based machine independent characteristics and its centric role to enable efficient CAD/CAM/CNC interoperability. The re-use of G-code programs is important for both manufacturing and capitalization of machining knowledge, nevertheless the conversion is a tedious task when carried out manually and machining knowledge is almost hidden in the low level G-code. Mapping G-code into STEP-NC should benefit from more expressiveness of the manufacturing feature-based characteristics of this new standard. The work presented here proposes an overall method for G-code to STEP-NC conversion. First, G-code is converted into canonical machining functions, this can make the method more applicable and make subsequent processes easier to implement; then these functions are parsed to generate the neutral format of STEP-NC Part21 toolpath file, this turns G-code into object instances, and can facilitate company's usage of legacy programs; and finally, also optionally, machining features are extracted to generate Part21 CC2 (conformance class) file. The proposed extraction method employs geometric information of cutting area inferred from toolpaths and machining strategies, in addition to cutting tools' data and workpiece's dimension data. This comprehensive use of available data makes the extraction more accurate and reliable. The conversion method is holistic, and can be extended to process a wide range of G-code programs (e.g. turning or mill-turn codes) with as few user interventions as possible.

Abstract:In order to generate the Numerical Control (NC) machining program of variant product rapidly, design principles of NC program for customized product was studied. The NC program design method of establishing master NC program based on product variant master model was proposed. In order to establish master NC program, the machining features of customized product were analyzed and defined, and NC subprogram base was designed. Furthermore, a prototype of master NC program was designed. The NC machining program of customized product could be obtained by analyzing, calculating and processing the data through a NC program generation process. In addition, combining tabular layouts of article characteristics with master NC program, the variant design of NC machining program could be achieved. Finally, an application example was given to verify the above-mentioned principles and methods. Results indicated that this method could realize the downstream variant response of customized product development process, and support mass customization production efficiently.

Abstract:In the new and emerging mass customization (MC) strategy, companies provide customized products or services on the basis of flexible manufacturing and modem information technology (IT). This paper focuses on the rapid design and automatization issue of NC machining program. A NC programming system for mass customization was investigated and employed to construct master NC program of part family and generate NC machining program of variant part rapidly. The purpose is to increase the development efficiency of NC machining program in mass customization company and make the NC machining program meet the variant design of part. In order to expedite the implementation of such a system,the NC programming principle for mass customization was researched. The model of master NC program was presented based on the definition of machining feature and the design of NC subprogram base. In addition,the content and structure of master NC program were analyzed. Then a prototype system was designed and its function model was presented on the basis of CAD system and PDM system. Finally,a case study on bearing cover was carried out to verify the validity of this system.

Abstract:In the integrated environment of PDM/CAM/CAD,this paper proposed a NC automatic Programming System which based on the requirements of standardization and modularization in the context of mass customization.It fully considered the possibilities of reusing some NC subprograms that are responded for those machining areas,which exist in different products.By making those NC Subprograms into templates,the enterprise builds its NC subprogram-base.To a new product, technologist can choose and combine NC subprograms from NC subprogram-base according to those process areas of the part to finish its NC program.This paper introduces the key techniques of this new system,including its logic structure and the framework of the system and the way to build and read the NC subprogram-base.At last,we give a show by a simple part from one textile company.

Abstract:This paper proposes making gent interface to existing BTR (behind tape reader). This addition allows the performance of the following three functions: 1. Real-time control of information can be achieved. 2. Conversion from serial to parallel information is made possible. Signals needed for operating tape reader can be simulated. 3. As many as ten CNC machine tools can be monitored and managed. A software was also developed to convert separate NC machines into a coordinated DNC system. Production efficiency rises greatly because DC system can perform the following functions: 1. NC programmes can be transmitted to NC machine tool by computer with efficiency much higher than that via previously existing ways of transmission. 2. Revised NC programmes can be stored in system computer. 3. NC programme buffer can be provided to support on-line operating. 4. NC machine tools can be monitored. 5. Real-time communication can be implemented.

Abstract:To meet the NC program design of mechanical parts for Mass Customization, this paper puts forward the systematic structure and information model of NC program design. On the basis of the NC program intelligent design system, Product Data Management (PDM) and CAD are integrated as the platform, then, the main NC program of part is obtained through putting the parameter document into the NC program intelligent design system from SML (Tabular Layouts of Article Characteristics). NC Meta-model program stock is founded by adopting the Meta-model idea, which is seen as the resource-stock for NC design. According to the customization need, the parameters are changed in SML, then, the Meta-model program stock is searched, the configuration and variant design are realized through distilling, increasing, deleting and modifying the sub-program. Finally, the customized NC code is obtained. The T6436 rotor-circulating part is applied to validate the theory in the paper. Results show the NC program design for Mass Customization improves the design efficiency and meets product customization.

Abstract:In this paper, a method of automatic NC code programming is studied. The data structure used to store graph information is the base of automatic programming system. By utilizing the object-oriented tree data structure proposed in the paper, the disadvantages of the method caused by using simple data structures can be overcome. In processing information, the judgment of topological relationship between two outlines is very important. The Loop Extremum Method is easy, convenient and with no limitations. The system adds plenty of technological parameters, provides multiple machining patterns. In the end, an example is given to test and verify the system`s functions.

Abstract:The CNC interpreter is an important part of CNC systems. It detects errors in NC programs and translates NC programs into internal commands for the followed CNC tasks. There are many vendor-specific NC programming languages. For each language, a corresponding CNC interpreter must be encapsulated in the CNC system. Thus, a universal CNC interpreter is desired. Besides, the CNC interpreter is desired to be scalable that allows users to define new instructions. In this paper, therefore, a universal and scalable CNC interpreter is presented. The interpretation process contains the grammar analysis part and the synthesis part. The grammar analysis is implemented depending on the grammar specification. Thus, as long as the grammar specification for vendor-specific commands or user-defined commands is constructed and configured, the CNC interpreter can interpret them. The synthesis part maps the output of the grammar analysis to machining functions. Specific operations contained in NC programs are implemented by an integrated operation postprocessor to guarantee positions in machining functions are practical cutter location positions. Moreover, the CNC interpreter is error tolerant for specific errors. There is a simulation module encapsulated in the prototype CNC interpreter so that this interpreter can run independently to pre-test NC programs in addition to implementing the interpretation task for a CNC system.
