Abstract:Due to the advances of imaging and computer technology in recent decades, study of the profile reconstruction of the inhomogeneous object from imaging projection has become greatly important in many areas such as engineering physics, medical diagnostics, etc.([1-4]) This might trace back to a very early time when Radon innovated a so-called Radon integral transformation to study the ray transmission and attenuation through an inhomogeneous object([5]). However, this research was not intensified until the computerized tomography (CT) with X-rays was innovated about twenty years ago. The CT technology used a source and detector moving around the object to yield projection data for reconstruction. During the recent two decades, CT technology has a broad application to image of the living human body, nuclear medical technology, etc. same principles are also applicable to the research of interactions gets, profile retrieval of the inhomogeneous media, numerical forward-modelling and inverse-retrieval problems in optics, radio physics, etc. In the case of high frequency and weak reflection due to media fluctuation, the reconstruction from ray projection of an inhomogeneous target in some problems of engineering physics is also a problem the same as CT. Under some special restriction we may retrieve the profile of symmetrically inhomogeneous layered object from a set of imaging projection at a fixed azimuthal direction.In this communication we develop a CT method of the inverse matrix for inhomogeneous attenuation profile of a symmetric layered object, and obtain the numerical results for a layered spheroid and a sphere composed of two distinct left and right halves. The numerical results are well compared with the simulated experimental data. Our results are also consistent with those by using several other approaches available in the CT technology such as the algebraic reconstruction technique([1]), the filtered back-propagation algorithm([1-3]) and the recursive state variable method with the Abel transform([4]). In the case of the symmetrically layered object, our approach is considered more superior and feasible.
