Abstract:A new method used to control unstable periodic orbit is presented. This method can reduce the three-dimensional system into two-dimensional by considering an appropriate variable equation as free equation. It is also effective in the presence of noise.

Abstract:When approximate unstable periodic orbit (UPO) embedded in a discrete chaotic attractor was known only, the stable state of the system using the method of variable feedback control was discussed. The stable state is neither the approximate UPO nor the exact one. The method of using the feedback control quantity of the stable state to correct adaptively approximate UPO to exact one was proposed. It makes the system to stable on exact UPO and feedback control quantity to be zero. To certain extent, the method can correct stable state of the system induced by inaccuracy of the known orbit under branch and chaotic state, and is beneficial to enhance the robustness of the system. The simulation results on adaptive correction in No.1 and 2 period of Henon map have illustrated that the method is effective.

Abstract:In this paper, based on the stability properties of a passive system, a simple linear state feedback controller is proposed to realize the stability control of a unified chaotic system. Using this method, we can render the non-passive unified chaotic system to be equivalent to a passive one. Simulation results are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Abstract:Based on the adaptive iterative learning strategy, a simple time-delayed controller is proposed to stabilize unstable periodic orbits (UPOs) embedded in chaotic attractors. This controller includes two parts: one is a linear feedback part; the other is an adaptive iterative learning estimation part. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show the effectiveness of this controller.

Abstract:In this paper we present a new simple controller for a chaotic system, that is, the Newton–Leipnik equation with two strange attractors: the upper attractor (UA) and the lower attractor (LA). The controller design is based on the passive technique. The final structure of this controller for original stabilization has a simple nonlinear feedback form. Using a passive method, we prove the stability of a closed-loop system. Based on the controller derived from the passive principle, we investigate three different kinds of chaotic control of the system, separately: the original control forcing the chaotic motion to settle down to the origin from an arbitrary position of the phase space; the chaotic intra-attractor control for stabilizing the equilibrium points only belonging to the upper chaotic attractor or the lower chaotic one, and the inter-attractor control for compelling the chaotic oscillation from one basin to another one. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results verify the validity of the suggested method.

Abstract:AbstractAbstractStable inversion based precise tracking for discrete‐time periodically time‐varying square systems is studied. By means of the lifting technique, the time‐varying system is reformulated equivalently to the time‐invariant lifted system that is analyzed for different cases such as the non‐singular case and the singular case. Combining the stable inversion method of these cases with the optimal state transition method for time‐varying systems, precise tracking is achieved from a limited initial time. The tracking performance of the proposed method is validated through simulations.

Abstract:The new chaos control method presented in this paper is useful for taking advantage of chaos. Based on sliding mode control theory, this paper provides a switching manifold controlling strategy of chaotic system, and also gives a kind of adaptive parameters estimated method to estimate the unknown systems' parameters by which chaotic dynamical system can be synchronized. Taking the Lorenz system as example, and with the help of this controlling strategy, we can synchronize chaotic systems with unknown parameters and different initial conditions.

Abstract:Based on passive theory,this paper studies a hybrid chaotic dynamical system from the mathematics perspective to implement the control of system stabilization.According to the Jacobian matrix of the nonlinear system,the stabilization control region is gotten.The controller is designed to stabilize fast the minimum phase Lorenz-Chen chaotic system after equivalently transforming from chaotic system to passive system.The simulation results show that the system not only can be controlled at the different equilibria,but also can be transformed between the different chaotic attractors.

Abstract:In this paper,a simple method of controlling chaos in an autonomous or non-autonomous dynamic system was proposed in which the proportional and differential controller is used in an appropriate way.The control results of three typical chaotic systems are given.Numerical simulation has demonstrated that this method of chaos control can stabilize the unstable periodic orbits embedded in the chaotic attractor or generate new stable periodic orbits.

Abstract:Passive equivalence control method is proposed for controlling uncertain Lorenz system to stabilize at the quilibrium point based on the unknown parameters identification. Using the descend method, the time series of the Lorenz system are used to identify the system's unknown parameters. After that, an important property of passive system is studied to control Lorenz chaotic system, that is, passive system can be asymptotically stabilized by state feedback controller. Simulation results indicated that the proposed chaos control method is very effective and feasible in controlling uncertain Lorenz chaotic systems.

Abstract:It is a typical route to generate chaos via period-doubling bifurcations in some nonlinear systems. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid control strategy in which state feedback and parameter perturbation are used to control the period-doubling bifurcations and to stabilize unstable periodic orbits embedded in the chaotic attractor of a discrete chaotic dynamical system. Simulation shows that the higher stable 2n-periodic orbit of the system can be controlled to lower stable 2m-periodic orbits (m<n) by this methods. Some other numerical simulations are also presented to verify the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:An adaptive control method for chaos oscillation in power system is put forward in this paper.The states of the system and their differential signals are obtained on time by tracking differentiator,and the influence induced by nonlinear periodic load disturbance is compensated adaptively.On the basis of that,linear state feedback control law is designed to ensure the stability and security of power system.Finally,a simulation case study is given to prove the validity of the proposed method.

Abstract:A method for stabilizing unstable periodic orbits (UPO) embedded in a chaotic attractor is presented. The conditions for controlling chaos and bifurcation through feeding back a delayed discrete variable are analyzed. The feedback procedure is applicable without knowing a priori the location and the periodicity of the UPO. Our method can be applied not only to the chaotic attractor but also to the situation of bifurcation.

Abstract:In this paper, the control of delaying period-doubling bifurcations and unstable periodic orbits embedded in a chaotic attractor of a discrete nonlinear dynamical system is effectively realized by using the state variables feedback and parameter variation. Moreover, the 2(n) periodic orbits of the system can be controlled into the 2(m) ( m < n) periodic orbits by the methods proposed.

Abstract:In order to realize chaos robust anti-control of a class of nonlinear system with uncertainties,a nonlinear proportional integral differential(NPID) control method was put forward.Differential signals of the driving chaos system and the controlled system were obtained by tracking differentiator and numerical differentiator.NPID controller was constructed with the principle that the integral of time-weighted absolute error(ITAE) was minimum,so that the available differential signals could be used to force the output of controlled system to follow the chaotic trajectory of the given driving system.Using this method,chaos anti-control was not only extended from discrete system to continuous system but also from linear stable continuous system with clear structure and parameters to nonlinear systems with uncertainties of structure and parameters.Analysis and simulation results show that differential signals of the driving chaos system and the controlled system can be obtained precisely,and the suggested controller design method is free of the constraints of Lyapunov exponents allocation which is often difficult to get.
Stabilizing unstable periodic orbit of unknown fractional-order systems via adaptive delayed feedback control

Abstract:This article presents an adaptive nonlinear delayed feedback control scheme for stabilizing the unstable periodic orbit of unknown fractional-order chaotic systems. The proposed control framework uses the Lyapunov approach and sliding mode control technique to guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable on a periodic trajectory sufficiently close to the unstable periodic orbit of the system. The proposed method has two significant advantages. First, it employs a direct adaptive control method, making it easy to implement this method on systems with unknown parameters. Second, the framework requires only the period of the unstable periodic orbit. The robustness of the closed-loop system against system uncertainties and external disturbances with unknown bounds is guaranteed. Simulations on fractional-order duffing and gyro systems are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. The simulation results demonstrate that our approach outperforms the previously developed linear feedback control method for stabilizing unstable periodic orbits in fractional-order chaotic systems, particularly in reducing steady-state error and achieving faster convergence of tracking error.

Abstract:We suggested a method using a small perturbation to modify Lyapunov exponents of the unstable periodic orbit for controlling chaos. The benefit of this control scheme is studied and the effect of noise is discussed. Based on these studies, a more practical control method is recommended, and some experiments can be better understanded.

Abstract:Control chaos of the Chen chaotic system was discussed by using the passive control theory. With the study of the property of passive system, the essential conditions under which the Chen chaotic system could be equivalent to a passive system via smooth state feedback were derived. It was found that the new system transformed by the Chen chaotic system, could be globally asymptotically stabilized at different equilibrium points, provided that suitable controllability-like rank conditions were satisfied. Simulation results indicated that the proposed chaos control method is very effective in Chen chaotic systems.

Abstract:Periodic variations are encountered in many real systems, which can exist in the system parameters, as a disturbance or as the tracking objective. However, there exist a great number of situations where the periodicity is not known in advance. Hence, how to compensate for the effects of time-varying parameters with unknown periodicity remains a challenge for the controller design. In this paper, we proposed a switching periodic adaptive control approach for continuous-time nonlinear parametric systems with periodic uncertainties in which the period and bound are not known in advance. We utilized a fully saturated periodic adaptation law to identify the unknown periodic parameters in a pointwise manner. In addition, we provided a logic-based switching scheme to estimate the unknown period and bound online simultaneously. By virtue of Lyapunov stability analysis, we show that the asymptotic convergence can be guaranteed irrespective of the initial conditions. Finally, we carried out numerical simulations to demonstrate the efficacy of the switching periodic adaptive control algorithm. The proposed approach can be applied to parametric nonlinear systems with time-varying parameters of unknown periodicity irrespective of the types of periodic uncertainties. Abstract:In this article, we focus on a topic of detecting unstable periodic orbits (UPOs) only based on the time series observed from the nonlinear dynamical system whose explicit model is completely unknown a priori. We articulate a data-driven and model-free method which connects a well-known machine learning technique, the reservoir computing, with a widely-used control strategy of nonlinear dynamical systems, the adaptive delayed feedback control. We demonstrate the advantages and effectiveness of the articulated method through detecting and controlling UPOs in representative examples and also show how those configurations of the reservoir computing in our method influence the accuracy of UPOs detection. Additionally and more interestingly, from the viewpoint of synchronization, we analytically and numerically illustrate the effectiveness of the reservoir computing in dynamical systems learning and prediction.
