Abstract:Detailed spectroscopic information on the N ∼ 82 nuclei is necessary to benchmark shell-model calculations in the region. The nuclear structure above long-lived isomers in 134 Xe is investigated after multinucleon transfer (MNT) and actinide ﬁssion. Xenon-134 was populated as (i) a transfer product in 136 Xe + 238 U and 136 Xe + 208 Pb MNT reactions and (ii) as a ﬁssion product in the 136 Xe + 238 U reaction employing the high-resolution Advanced Gamma Tracking Array (AGATA). Trajectory reconstruction has been applied for the complete identiﬁcation of beamliketransferproductswiththemagneticspectrometerPRISMA.The 136 Xe + 198 PtMNTreactionwasstudied with the γ -ray spectrometer GAMMASPHERE in combination with the gas detector array Compact Heavy Ion Counter (CHICO). Several high-spin states in 134 Xe on top of the two long-lived isomers are discovered based on γγ -coincidence relationships and information on the γ -ray angular distributions as well as excitation energies from the total kinetic energy loss and ﬁssion fragments. The revised level scheme of 134 Xe is extended up to an excitation energy of 5.832 MeV with tentative spin-parity assignments up to 16 + . Previous assignments of states above the 7 − isomer are revised. Abstract:High-spin states in the Xe-129 nucleus are studied with the reaction Sn-124(Be-9,4n) at a beam energy of 36 MeV. The level scheme is extended significantly. For the positive-parity band, the alpha = +1/2 and the alpha = -1/2 signature components are combined to form a complete band structure based on the 3/2(+) state with spin and parity up to 21/2(+). For the negative-parity band based on the 11/2(-) state, the alpha = +1/2 signature component is newly established and both the alpha = +1/2 and the alpha = -1/2 signature components also form a complete band structure up to the 35/2(-) state. The positive-and negative-parity bands are proposed to originate from nu d(3/2) 3/2(+)[402] and nu h(11/2)11/2(-)[505] Nilsson configurations, respectively. A backbending is observed in the negative-parity band, which originates from the alignments of two h(11/2) protons according to crank shell model calculations. Based on the total Routhian surface and quasiparticle triaxial rotor model calculations, the negative-parity band is interpreted as a triaxially deformed shape with gamma approximate to -30 degrees, while the positive-parity band is associated with. softness, in accordance with previous studies. In the high-spin states, three decoupled bands and one oblate band with gamma approximate to -60 degrees are newly identified. The systematics and other characteristics of these bands are discussed.

Abstract:The transitional nuclei $^{132}\mathrm{Xe}$ and $^{133}\mathrm{Xe}$ are investigated after multinucleon-transfer (MNT) and fusion-evaporation reactions. Both nuclei are populated (i) in $^{136}\mathrm{Xe}+^{208}\mathrm{Pb}$ MNT reactions employing the high-resolution Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) coupled to the magnetic spectrometer PRISMA, (ii) in the $^{136}\mathrm{Xe}+^{198}\mathrm{Pt}$ MNT reaction employing the GAMMASPHERE spectrometer in combination with the gas-detector array CHICO, and (iii) as an evaporation residue after a $^{130}\mathrm{Te}(\ensuremath{\alpha},xn)^{134\ensuremath{-}xn}\mathrm{Xe}$ fusion-evaporation reaction employing the HORUS $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray array at the University of Cologne. The high-spin level schemes are considerably extended above the ${J}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}=({7}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ and $({10}^{+})$ isomers in $^{132}\mathrm{Xe}$ and above the $11/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ isomer in $^{133}\mathrm{Xe}$. The results are compared to the high-spin systematics of the $Z=54$ as well as the $N=78$ and $N=79$ chains. Furthermore, evidence is found for a long-lived (${T}_{1/2}\ensuremath{\gg}1\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{s}$) isomer in $^{133}\mathrm{Xe}$ which closes a gap along the $N=79$ isotones. Shell-model calculations employing the SN100PN and PQM130 effective interactions reproduce the experimental findings and provide guidance to the interpretation of the observed high-spin features.

Abstract:By analysing the energy spectrum and E2 transition branching ratios, we show that the E(5) symmetry predictions agree well with the experimental data of nucleus 130Xe. Compared the calculated results with those within the framework of the interacting boson model, it is found that the nucleus 130Xe is definitely a nucleus in the transitional region from U(5) to O(6) symmetry. 130Xe is then another empirical evidence of the nucleus with E(5) symmetry.

Abstract:The even--even and even--odd nuclei $^{126}$Xe-$^{132}$Xe and $^{131}$Ba-$^{137}$Ba are shown to have a well-realized $SO_8 \supset SO_6 \supset SO_3$ fermion dynamical symmetry. Their low-lying energy levels can be described by a unified analytical expression with two (three) adjustable parameters for even--odd (even--even) nuclei that is derived from the fermion dynamical symmetry model. Analytical expressions are given for wavefunctions and for $E2$ transition rates that agree well with data. The distinction between the FDSM and IBM $SO_6$ limits is discussed. The experimentally observed suppression of the the energy levels with increasing $SO_5$ quantum number $\tau$ can be explained as a perturbation of the pairing interaction on the $SO_6$ symmetry, which leads to an $SO_5$ Pairing effect for $SO_6$ nuclei.

Abstract:The high-spin structures and isomers of the N = 81 isotones 135 Xe and 137 Ba are investigated after multinucleon-transfer (MNT) and fusion-evaporation reactions.Both nuclei are populated (i) in 136 Xe+ 238 U and (ii) 136 Xe+ 208 Pb MNT reactions employing the high-resolution Advanced Gamma Tracking Array (AGATA) coupled to the magnetic spectrometer PRISMA, (iii), in the 136 Xe+ 198 Pt MNT reaction employing the γ-ray array GAMMASPHERE in combination with the gas-detector array CHICO, and (iv) via a 11 B+ 130 Te fusion-evaporation reaction with the HORUS γ-ray array at the University of Cologne.The high-spin level schemes of 135 Xe and 137 Ba are considerably extended to higher energies.The 2058-keV (19/2 -) state in 135 Xe is identified as an isomer, closing a gap in the systematics along the N = 81 isotones.Its half-life is measured to be 9.0(9) ns, corresponding to a reduced transition probability of B(E2, 19/2 -→ 15/2 -) = 0.52(6) W.u. The experimentally-deduced reduced transition probabilities of the isomeric states are compared to shell-model predictions.Latest shell-model calculations reproduce the experimental findings generally well and provide guidance to the interpretation of the new levels.

Abstract:High-spin states of 156Yb have been studied via the 144Sm（16O,4n）156Yb fusion-evaporation reaction at beam energy 102 MeV. The positive-parity yrast band and negative-parity cascade have been extended up to higher-spin states, respectively. The characteristics of the negative-parity sequence above the 25-state may related to the excitation from the nucleon in the Z =64, N =82 core. The E-GOS curve for the positiveparity yrast sequence in 156Yb indicate that this nucleus may undergo an evolution from quasivibrational to quasirotational structure with increasing angular momentum. The Cranked Woods-Saxon-Strutinsky calculations by means of Total-Routhian-Surface （TRS） methods has been made to understand this structure change.

Abstract:Structure of the neutron-rich N = 86 isotope Xe-140, located northeast of a doubly-magic nucleus Sn-132, is investigated by beta-gamma spectroscopy. Two beta-decay isomers in I-14(0) are newly found in the study of two different beta decays of I-140 which were produced by two reactions (i) direct in-flight fission at a primary target and (ii) beta decay of Te-140 at an active stopper. Half-lives of the beta decays of the ground state, the low-spin isomer, and the high-spin isomer are determined to be 0.38(2), 0.91(5), and 0.47(4) s, respectively. Decay schemes of the beta decay of the high-spin isomer and of the mixed beta decays of the ground state and the low-spin isomer in I-140 to Xe-140 are constructed using the information on gamma-ray coincidence relation and gamma-ray intensity. Nuclear structures of the low-lying states in Xe-140 and I-140 are discussed by comparing the experimental results to two theoretical calculations based on a large-scale shell model and the deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov plus deformed quasiparticle-random-phase approximation. Possible candidates for (quasi-)gamma-band members of 2(+) and 4(+) states and the octupole collective 1(-) state are proposed in Xe-140. Increase of quadrupole, triaxial, and octupole collectivities is discussed with the increase of neutron and proton numbers.

Abstract:The positive-parity collective states in the even-even Te-116 similar to 130 isotopes are studied in the framework of interacting boson model. A schematic Hamiltonian able to describe the transition from U(5) to SU(3) dynamical symmetry is used. It is found that the spectra can be well described by the transition from vibration to rotation. The behavior of the 0(2)(+) state can be partially described by the model, suggesting that the state is mainly composed of the normal sd configuration, but is influenced by the cross-shell excitation across the Z = 50 shell.

Abstract:High spin states in the N=79 Ce-137 nucleus have been studied with the reaction Sn-124(O-18, 5n)Ce-137 at beam energy 78 MeV. The level scheme has been expanded with spin up to 43/2 (h) over bar. At low spins, the yrast collective structure built on the nu h(11/2)(-1) x 2(+) multiplet shows a transitional shape with gamma = 30.8 degrees according to calculations of the triaxial rotor-plus-particle model. The configurations for several high spin states have been discussed from a systematical comparison with neighboring nuclei. A collective band built on I = 33/2 level has been observed for the first time. This band has an oblate shape with gamma = -60 degrees and most probably originates from the five-quasiparticle nu s(1/2) x [nu h(11/2)] x pi g(7/2) x pi h(11/2) configuration.

Abstract:Structure of neutron-rich N = 83 isotones was studied with Cf-252 source and Gammasphere. High spin level schemes of Ba-139 (Z = 56) and Te-135 (Z = 52) were proposed, and those of Xe-137 (Z = 54) and I-136(Z = 53) were extended. Spins, parities and configurations are tentatively assigned to the levels. Rich spectroscopic information characteristic of spherical shell model excitations and enhanced E3 cascade were observed in Te-135, Xe-137 and I-136, and resemblance between Sn-132 and Pb-208 region was observed in the isotones. But 139Ba exhibits different structure which is interpreted by the difference between particle-particle and particle-hole excitations. Based on a detailed measurement of a regular band consisting of intense M1 and very weak crossover E2 high-lying in Te-135, the band is interpreted as a magnetic rotation band.

Abstract:High spin states in 134Ce nucleus have been studied by using the heavy-ion induced reaction 122Sn(16O,4n) carried out at China Institute of Atomic Energy. The early level scheme has been extended with spin up to 22(h). However,our result is different from that in a recent publication,and the magnetic rotation bands reported there have not been confirmed. Our observed level structures may be interpreted as shape coexistence. The 10+ state at the backbending with h11/2 quasineutron configuration has an oblate deformation with an asymmetry parameter γ≈-60°(Lund convention),and the 10+ isomer is a yrast trap of prolate deformation with γ≈-120°,whereas the other signature partner bands with h11/2 and g7/2 proton configuration probably have a prolate deformation with γ≈0°.

Abstract:The interacting boson model 3 has been used to study the nuclear level structures and electromagnetic transition probabilities for Ti44-48 isotopes. This helps us to identify some low-lying mixed symmetry states. We have analysed the wavefunctions and given the symmetry labelling of the states. The analysis is consistent with the available data. The isospin excitation states with T > T-Z are also studied, and comparison with experimental data is given.

Abstract:The spectra and E2 transition properties of Nd146-156 isotopes are studied in the interacting boson model in the light of new experimental data. It is found that Nd146-150 are in the transition from the vibrational limit to the rotational limit. From Nd-152 onward, the isotopes are nearly perfect rotors. Possible deformation saturation is discussed in the interacting boson model.
