Abstract:Two new neolignan glucosides, tortosides D and E were isolated from plants of Pedicularis torta. On the basis of spectral evidence, tortosides D and E were determined as (7R.8S)-dehydrodiconiferyl-9-O-beta-D-4 ''-O-methyl-glucopyranoside and (7R,8S)-5-methoxy-dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol-9'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, respectively.

Abstract:Three new triterpenoid derivatives, named (15 alpha)-15-hydroxysoyasapogenol B (1), (7 beta,15 alpha)-7,15-dihydroxysoyasapogenol B (2), and (7 beta)-7,29-dihydroxysoyasapogenol B (3), were isolated from cultures of the plant endophytic fungus Pestalotiopsis clavispora. Abstract:A new indole alkaloidal glucoside together with three known compounds aurantiamide acetate (2), eleutheroside E (3) and 1-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) has been isolated from ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Clematis terniflora DC. On the basis of their spectroscopic and chemical evidence, the new compound was elucidated as (6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1H-indol-3-yl) carboxylic acid methyl ester (1). Compounds 1 and 3 showed significant cytotoxicity against human ECA-109.

Abstract:A new monoterpene glycoside named as pedivertoside D (1), together with 13 known compounds (2-14, resp.) were isolated from the whole plant of Pedicularis verticillata L. The new compound was identified as (2E,6E,5R)-5,8-dihydrooxy-2,6-dimethyl-3,7-octadienyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside by spectroscopic methods including 2 D-NMR techniques. The known compounds were determined spectroscopically and compared with previously reported spectral data. Compounds 6 and 9 exhibited anticomplementary effects against the classical pathway (CP) with CH50 values of 0.07 mM and 0.23 mM, respectively, which are plausible candidates for developing potent anti-complementary agents from this plant. Abstract:Three new norlignans, glechomols AC (13, respectively), together with a known compound, 4-ethylcatechol (4), were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Glechoma longituba (NaKai) Kupr. Their structures were elucidated by the detailed analysis of 1D and 2D NMR and HR-MS data. Glechomols AC were the first norlignans reported from genus Glechoma, and compound 4 was also isolated from genus Glechoma for the first time. Intracellular antioxidant assays showed that compounds 14 displayed significant protective effects on H2O2-induced cardiac cell injury.

Abstract:Prunella vulgaris is known to contain pentacyclic triterpenoids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and steroids. Among the triterpenoids, the oleanane-type, ursane-type, and lupane-type triterpenoids have been known to be predominant. Our phytochemical study led to the isolation of a new neolignan, 9′-O-butyl dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), together with four known compounds, astragalin (2), benzyl-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), paeonoside (4), and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (5). It is noteworthy that all the isolated compounds are reported for the first time from the genus Prunella.

Abstract:Two new neolignans, manneoinsigins A (1) and B (2), together with four known lignans, were isolated from the leaves and stems of Manglietia insignis. The new compounds were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses. All compounds except 2 were tested for their cytotoxic activity. Compound 3 showed weak cytotoxic activity against the HL-60 human tumor cell line with the IC50 value of 23.5 µM.

Abstract:Two new steroidal glycosides were isolated from the Chinese medicinal plant Caryopteris terniflora. The spectroscopic and chemical evidences revealed that their structures to be 6-(beta-sitosteroyl-3-O-beta-glucopyranosidyl) hexacosanate 1 and 6-(stigmasteroyl-3-O-beta-glucopyranosidyl) linolenate 2, respectively.

Abstract:A new neolignan, (–)-(7 R ,8 S ,7′ R ,8′ S ,8′′ S )-4′-hydroxy-3′,3′′,5′′-trimethoxy-4′′-O- β -D-glucopyranosyl-7,9,7′,9′-diepoxy-3,4,8′′,9′′-bisoxy-8,8′-sesquineolignan ( 1 ), and five known neolignan derivatives were isolated from an ethanolic extract of Selaginella trichoclada Alston. The chemical structure of these compounds was identified by extensive spectroscopic analyses (UV-vis, 1D/2D NMR, CD, and MS). Furthermore, the molecular docking results indicate that compound 1 may act as an anti-inflammatory inhibitor.

Abstract:Two new pterocarpan glycosides (1–2), five new triterpenoids (3–7), and 13 known analogues (14–20) were isolated from the whole plants of Gueldenstaedtia verna. These new compounds (1–7) were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic techniques including 1D (1H and 13C) and 2D NMR experiments (COSY, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY), HR-ESI-MS and chemical methods. The absolute configuration of 1 was established by the optical rotation, the comparison of experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra and an X-ray diffraction analysis. All the isolates were evaluated for their cytotoxicities against four human cancer cell lines and inhibitory activities on LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells.

Abstract:The main chemical constituents from Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma were isolated and purified using the macroporous resin,microporous resin(MCI) and octadecylsilyl silica gel(ODS) column chromatography, as well as semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography. Their chemical structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses including mass spectrometry(MS),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR), ultraviolet(UV), infrared(IR) and circular dichoism(CD) combined with literature data.A total of 11 compounds were isolated and identified, including 4 lignan glycosides, 2 benzyl alcohol glycosides, 4 flavonoid glycosides, and 1 α-tetralone glycoside:(7S,8R)-dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol 9-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-9'-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-β-D-glucopyranoside(1),(7S, 8R)-dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol 9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(2),(7S, 8R)-dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol di-9, 9'-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(3),(+)-lyoniresinol 3α-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(4), benzyl alcohol O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside(5), benzyl alcohol O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside(6), 3'-O-methylepicatechin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(7), 3'-O-methylcatechin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(8), apigenin 6-C-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(9), isoscoparin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(10), and(4R)-8-hydroxy-α-tetralone-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(11). Abstract:Three new compounds, pictalignans A (1), B (2), C (3), along with three known analogues, syringaresinol (4), 3,3',5-trimethoxy-4',7-epoxy-8,5'-neoligan-4',9,9'-triol (5), 4,9-dihydroxy-4',7-epoxy-8',9'-dinor-8,5'-neolignan-7'-oic acid (6) were isolated from the 75% aqueous ethanol extract of Selaginella picta. Their structures were established by physicochemical properties and spectroscopic methods, and absolute configurations of new compounds were elucidated by experimental and calculated ECD spectra. Compounds 1-3 are neolignans with additional one or two C6-C3 structural units attached to hydroxypropyl group, which are extremely rare in nature. All new compounds exhibited moderate protective effect against the injury of HT-22 cells induced by L-Glutamate in vitro, and compound 1 showed better protective effect than positive drug with the concentrations of 10 μM to 15 μM.

Abstract:Four new diastereoisomeric neolignan glycosides ( 1 – 4 ) along with nine known lignan glycosides ( 5 – 13 ) were isolated from the root bark of Lycium chinense Mill. Their structures with absolute configurations were elucidated on the basis of NMR spectroscopy, ECD, Mo 2 (OAc) 4 -induced ECD spectra, enzymatic hydrolysis and acid hydrolysis. The isolated compounds were evaluated for their α -glucosidase inhibitory activity. Compounds 8 and 13 exhibited moderate inhibitory activities against α -glucosidase with IC 50 values of 26.82 ± 2.71 and 43.14 ± 2.81 μg/mL.

Abstract:The phytochemical investigation of the ethanolic extract of the whole plants of Geum japonicum Thunb. var. chinense F. Bolle yielded four new compounds: 20 β,28-epoxy-28-hydroxytaraxasteran-3 β-ol (1), (7R,8R)-4-hydroxy-9'-O-(α-L-rhamnopyranosyl)-3,3',5'-trimethoxy-8-O-4'-neolignan (2), (7R,8S)-4-hydroxy-9'-O-(α-L-rhamnopyranosyl)-3,3',5'-trimethoxy-8-O-4'-neolignan (3), and (7S,8S)-5-methoxycupressoside A (4), as well as 40 other known compounds. Structures were elucidated by physical, chemical, and spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS, and CD experiments. The taraxasterane-type triterpene (1) and lignans (2- 6) are reported for the first time from the GEUM genus. Moreover, all compounds were evaluated for anti-inflammatory activities against NO production in RAW264.7 macrophages, and only moderate activities were detected.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation on the whole plant of Anemone rivularis var. flore-minore led to the isolation of a new labdane-type diterpene glycoside (1) and a new trihydroxyfuranoid lignanoid glycoside (2), together with three known triterpene and triterpenoid glycosides (3–5). The structures of the two new compounds were elucidated as β-d-glucopyranosyl (13S)-13-hydroxy-7-oxo-labda-8,14-diene-18-oate (1) and (7S,7′R,8R,8′S)-7′-butoxy-7,9′-epoxy-4,4′,9-trihydroxy-3,3′-dimethoxylignane 9-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), on the basis of extensive spectral analysis and chemical evidence. Compound 1 is characterized by a glucose (Glc) esterified C-18 carboxyl group, which is a rarely encountered labdane-type diterpene glycoside in nature. The two new compounds (1 and 2) reported here are the first examples of diterpene glycoside and lignanoid glycoside found in the genus Anemone, and the known triterpene and triterpenoid glycosides (3–5) are identified for the first time from the title plant.
