Abstract:Two most attractive recent advances in hard and soft magnetic materials were discussed. A promising new hard magnetic material with Curie temperature and magnetic anisotropy higher than Nd2Fe14B was produced by nitrogenation of Sm2Fe17. For soft magnetic materials, the traditional technic line of taking big grain microstructure was broken by the success in the development of Fe-matrix nanocrystalline due to its high magnetization and high permeability. Besides, some other advances in hard and soft magnetic materials were also briefly reviewed in this paper.
