Abstract:There is a number of process relying,self organization and evolution in the complex system,so the traditional modeling method is difficult.Fuzzy cognitive maps as a soft computing method,which combines the synergistic fuzzy logic and theories of neural networks provides a powerful tool for the complex system modeling.According to the characteristics of fuzzy cognitive maps,a genetic learning algorithm was proposed for the construction of the system fuzzy cognitive maps. It provided a method for the analysis and the forecast of complex system.Finally,the stock market data were used as the test data for the simulated test of analysis and prediction.The result shows that the forecast technology has short-term forecast ability.

Abstract:Economic modeling is wellknown difficult due to the complexity of the economy caused by humans as the roles of the economic activities. Humans are irrational sometimes and they are interacting with each other. They behave differently in different time and different situation. In theoretical mathematical economics, economists try to model the economy qualitatively using abstract mathematical tools. Applied mathematical economics introduces simplifying approximations to the theoretical qualitative model and quantifies model parameters for deterministic or stochastic computation or reasoning in order to predict and control the economic processes. This paper presents a framework for macroeconomic modeling based on integrating qualitative and quantitative information. The framework introduces a new concept of integrated model, and incorporates integrated model construction, applied model selection and integration, model system evolution, and model-based qualitative and quantitative reasoning in a human-machine system. It is a modeling methodology in a multi-dimensional model space and a qualitative and quantitative mixed information environment. Under this framework, the complex economy modeling will be systemal and insightful, and the model(s) will be more applicable.

Abstract:One of difficult tasks on dynamic systems is the exploration of connection models of variables from time series data. Reasonable time regions for constructing the models are crucial to avoid improper models or the loss of important information. We propose fuzzy learning of geometric structures to find reasonable time regions and proper models to reveal varying laws of system. By comparing values of fuzzy merging function for shorter time regions and fuzzy unmerging function for larger varying actions, reasonable model regions are inferred. Experimental results (for both simulated and real data) show that the proposed method is very effective in finding connection models adaptive to the evolution of a dynamic system, and it detected large varying actions in the regions below preset minimal region length, whereas the non-fuzzy learning method failed.

Abstract:Fuzzy modeling of multivariable discrete-time nonlinear dynamical systems is approached analytically in this paper. We start by developing a proper framework based on the key notions of fuzzy quantization and function approximation. This framework allows the fuzzy modeling to be justified with mathematical rigor, and the modeling problem be formulated in a way suitable for an analytical solution. Based on the formulation, an online scheme is developed that adaptively forms the fuzzy model from samples of a dynamical system by generating and modifying a set of fuzzy rules and membership functions. The convergence analysis of the scheme is carried out rigorously based on the Lyapunov theory, and the major convergence result is established. The scheme is also applied to a few nonlinear modeling problems to demonstrate its feasibility and effectiveness

Abstract:With the increasing complexity of actual technical and economic problems,a series of systematic analysis models based on the mathematical programming and market equilibrium theory evolve and improve in their practical applications.Through the review on the characteristics and applications of typical systematic analysis models such as agricultural household model,ecological economic model,computable general equilibrium model and partial equilibrium model in the techno-economic field,we reveal that the techno-economic research transfers from focusing on economic benefit evaluation to overall evaluation on economic,ecological,and social benefits.Different models can be linked with each other,utilized comprehensively and improved continuously with the time and spatial variation,which shows the important research value and potential applications in the techno-economic research.

Abstract:For dynamic systems with complex and nonlinear characteristics, the traditional modeling methods cannot describe its dynamic properties. In fact, there exists a large number of input-output data of the complex systems, and it is an efficient approach to model based on input-output data. This paper proposes a method for dividing the input space with decision tree regression. The fuzzy model is created through extracting the fuzzy rules from the training data. Simulational results show that the fuzzy model can describe the dynamic characteristics and that the method is quick and efficient.

Abstract:Multi-scale fuzzy modeling of multivariable discrete-time nonlinear dynamical systems is approached analytically in this paper. The underlying idea of this approach is to introduce the idea of multi-scale fuzzy quantization. More globally supported membership functions are used at coarser scales to capture global characteristics of the unknown system, whereas more locally supported membership functions are used at finer scales to fill in the local features. Starting from the coarsest scale down to finer ones, a projection method is used to extract a partial fuzzy-model (in terms of fuzzy membership functions and fuzzy rules) from the residual of the system at each scale until the residual drops below a prescribed modeling error bound. The multi-scale fuzzy model is then obtained by assembling the partial fuzzy models together. To reach a near optimal fuzzy model, a rule reduction technique has also been developed to delete some fuzzy rules. An illustrative example is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme.

Abstract:The qualitative simulation field has developed remarkably in theory of algorithms, while relatively backward in modeling methodology. In this paper, a novel qualitative modeling and simulation approach based on XML(eXtensive Markup Language) is proposed, which greatly improves the efficiency of modeling, enhances the reusability, scalability and standardization of qualitative modeling and simulation. On the basis of theory studying of qualitative simulation algorithms and component-connection modeling, the model library design proposal is described by XML markup language. Some specific instances of the model fragments are introduced in relation to components of qualitative simulation model. The component-connection library (XML documents) will be parsed and transformed into a qualitative simulation QDE (qualitative differential equation), which is the input and initialization of qualitative simulation process.

Abstract:In modern industrial cyber-physical systems, a mass of process variables has been obtained by the highsampling online sensors. Meanwhile, the key quality indexes are usually obtained infrequently from the laboratory. Hence, these quality variables are with low sampling rate. To avail of the complete process and quality variables with various sampling rates in the dynamic processes, a set of semi-supervised dynamic latent variable models are proposed for dynamic modeling and quality-relevant monitoring. The proposed models have built a unified structure to consider both the auto-correlations and cross-correlations between the process and quality variables with unbalanced sampling sizes. Hence, the feature extraction of the time series data is dynamically adjusted under the guidance of the quality variables. Then, the quality-relevant monitoring schemes are proposed, which is validated by a numerical case and an actual wastewater treatment process

Abstract:According to the target of economic system, we analyze the process of value realization for the economic activities in an economic system. Then we provide definition of in such economic systems, and analyze the impact of its components: factors, and genes. Based on the relations of risk potential and risk events, we develop the high-level risk model. Furthermore, based on the relation of factors and genes, we develop the model for analyzing low-level risk in an economic system. The high-and low-level models are coordinated by the interaction of risk events and risk factors. With this model, the risk analysis can deal with large amount of information of different levels, while focusing on particular concerns at the same time.

Abstract:Fuzziness is an important aspect of the uncertainties of spatial data. In this paper, the mechanism and methods of spatial modeling for fuzzy geographical objects are focused and the following two issues are resolved: (1) Modeling fuzzy geographical objects; (2) Modeling the relation between two fuzzy geographical objects. In the first issue, fuzzy geographical objects are defined by the novel object-oriented modeling method. In the second issue, fuzzy object classes and fuzzy geographical object classes are defined by Unified Modeling Language (UML), and the method of modeling fuzzy spatial relationship is put forward. Then an integrated UML graph is established to express the conceptual model of fuzzy geographical objects as well as the fuzzy topological relations between objects. Finally, the UML Graph can be input to the general relation database to finish the database design.

Abstract:The problem related to predicting dynamic volatility in financial market plays a crucial role in many contexts. We build a new generalized Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard (BN-S) model suitable for uncertain environment with fuzziness and randomness. This new model considers the delay phenomenon between price fluctuation and volatility changes, solves the problem of the lack of long-range dependence of classic models. Through the experiment of Dow Jones futures price, we find that compared with the classical model, this method effectively combines the uncertain environmental characteristics, which makes the prediction of dynamic volatility has more ideal performance.

Abstract:The main objective of the article is to permit the reliability analyst's/engineers/managers/practitioners to analyze the failure behavior of a system in a more consistent and logical manner. To this effect, the authors propose a methodological and structured framework, which makes use of both qualitative and quantitative techniques for risk and reliability analysis of the system. The framework has been applied to model and analyze a complex industrial system from a paper mill. In the quantitative framework, after developing the Petrinet model of the system, the fuzzy synthesis of failure and repair data (using fuzzy arithmetic operations) has been done. Various system parameters of managerial importance such as repair time, failure rate, mean time between failures, availability, and expected number of failures are computed to quantify the behavior in terms of fuzzy, crisp and defuzzified values. Further, to improve upon the reliability and maintainability characteristics of the system, in depth qualitative analysis of systems is carried out using failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) by listing out all possible failure modes, their causes and effect on system performance. To address the limitations of traditional FMEA method based on risky priority number score, a risk ranking approach based on fuzzy and Grey relational analysis is proposed to prioritize failure causes.

Abstract:Based upon the works by Zadeh (1973, 1975), in this paper, a special dynamic process with linguistic values as its observations is defined and studied. This dynamic process is called fuzzy time series. To describe fuzzy time series, fuzzy relational equations are employed as the models. There are two classes of fuzzy time series: time-variant and time-invariant. The definition of fuzzy time series is given, some properties of fuzzy time series are explored, and procedures to develop fuzzy time series models are discussed. Finally, a procedure for using fuzzy time series for foracasting is suggested.

Abstract:A new approach to model and control an unknown system using subjective uncertain rules is proposed. This method is established by combining the grey system theory and the qualitative simulation method. The proposed approach mainly contains three steps. In the first step, subjective uncertain rules are accumulated gradually during cognizing the system; the mapping relations between the system inputs and outputs are built and represented using the grey qualitative matrix in the second step; in the third step,the generalized whitening function is defined to realize the transformation between qualitative and quantitative information. Besides the theoretical results, two sets of simulations based on a water level control system are conducted comparatively to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The water level expectation is set to be constant in the first set, while it changes in the second set. The simulation results show that the proposed method tracks the water level expectation well. By combining the proposed method with proportional-integral-derivative(PID) or fuzzy logic controller(FLC), it can be concluded that the system can reach the stable state more quickly and the overshoot can also be reduced compared to using PID or FLC alone.

Abstract:The theory of the financial business cycle is a new focus in the field of the theory of the economic cycle.In this paper,we have,by embedding the bank sector into the DSGE framework,constructed a model of the financial busi ness cycle,and,according to the corrective model of the quarterly data on the real China ’ s economy between the first quarter of 1992 and the first quarter of 2011,studied the effect of modeling China ’ s real economy.By our study,we have discovered that(1) the basic model can,in a relatively large parametric field,better simulate the data Characteristics of the main variables of the real economy;(2) neither the model of the policy of the nature of rules nor the model of the policy without the nature of rules can mostly be near the real economy,and the fluctuation char acteristics predicted by the half-rule-policy model is most near the fluctuation characteristics of the real economy.

Abstract:In this work, we suggest a system of differential equations that quantitatively models the formulation and evolution of a trend cycle through the consideration of underlying dynamics between the trend participants. Our model captures the five stages of a trend cycle, namely, the onset, rise, peak, decline, and obsolescence. It also provides a unified mathematical criterion/condition to characterize the fad, fashion and classic. We prove that the solution of our model can capture various trend cycles. Numerical simulations are provided to show the expressive power of our model.
