Abstract:Ethanol and methyl acrylate as two kinds of additive at 0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, 16%, and 20% were added to bio-oil to study their effects on the stability of bio-oil during storage within 42d at 25C. At the same time, GC-MS and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy methods were used to analyze the chemical composition of the bio-oil before and after storage. The results showed that both 12% of ethanol and 16% of methyl acrylate can reduce the kinematic viscosity and improve the stability of bio-oil obviously. After 42d storage, kinematic viscosities of bio-oil with no additive, 12% of ethanol and 16% of methyl acrylate were 23.55 mm2/s, 10.81 mm2/s and 9.67 mm2/s, respectively, which were 49.71%, 17.40% and 29.60% higher than those of bio-oil before storage. Ethanol was better than that of methyl acrylate at the same condition in terms of reducing kinematic viscosity of bio-oil. At the same time, adding additives in the bio-oil can increase its pH and reduce its water content. The results of the GC-MS and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis showed that there was a series of reactions inside the bio-oil, such as the generation of some oxygen-containing heterocyclic compounds and the transform reaction of the functional groups on the benzene ring of the benzene and phenol compounds.
