Abstract:In this paper, we prove the uniqueness of certain Fourier-Jacobi models for the split exceptional group $G_2$ over finite fields with odd characteristic. Similar results are also proved for $Sp_4$ and $U_4$.

Abstract:For every genuine irreducible admissible smooth representation $\pi$ of the metaplectic group $\widetilde{{\rm Sp}}(2n)$ over a $p$-adic field, and every smooth oscillator representation $\omega_\psi$ of $\widetilde{{\rm Sp}}(2n)$, we prove that the tensor product $\pi\otimes\omega_\psi$ is multiplicity free as a smooth representation of the symplectic group ${\rm Sp}(2n)$. Similar results are proved for general linear groups and unitary groups.

Abstract:The main theme of this paper is that singular automorphic forms on classical groups are given by theta series liftings. We establish several inequalities relating the automorphic multiplicities of a given representation and that of its abstract theta lift. Our methods allow one to lift noncuspidal, square integrable automorphic forms when the dual pair involved is in the stable range. In this way we construct new families of singular automorphic forms, many of which are clearly unipotent. In fact, starting from one-dimensional representations and repeating the procedure (of lifting in the stable range), one may obtain all automorphic forms which are quadratic unipotent in the sense of Moeglin.

Abstract:We prove the uniqueness of the Ginzburg-Rallis models over $p$-adic local fields of characteristic zero, which completes the local uniqueness problem for the Ginzburg-Rallis models starting from the work of C.-F. Nien in \cite{MR2709083} that proves the non-split case, and the work of D. Jiang, B. Sun and C. Zhu in \cite{MR2763736} that proves the general case over Archimedean local fields. Our proof extends the strategy of \cite{MR2763736} to the $p$-adic case with the help of the refined structure of the wavefront sets of $\mathfrak {z}$-finite distributions as developed by A. Aizenbud, D. Gourevitch and E. Sayag in \cite{MR3406530}.

Multiplicity formula for induced representations: Bessel and Fourier-Jacobi models over Archimedean local fields

Abstract:This article proves a formula relating the multiplicity of an induced representation and that of the inducing datum for the Bessel and the Fourier-Jacobi models over Archimedean local fields by generalizing the approach of C. Moeglin and J.-L. Waldspurger in [MW12], which was successful for Bessel models of special orthogonal groups over non-Archimedean local fields. As an application, we give a uniform proof of the local Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture for all classical groups over Archimedean local fields for generic local $L$-parameters based on the tempered basic cases.

On Representations of Real Jacobi Groups

Abstract:We consider a category of continuous Hilbert space representations and a category of smooth Frechet representations, of a real Jacobi group $G$. By Mackey's theory, they are respectively equivalent to certain categories of representations of a real reductive group $\widetilde L$. Within these categories, we show that the two functors of taking smooth vectors for $G$, and for $\widetilde L$, are consistent with each other. By using Casselman-Wallach's theory of smooth representations of real reductive groups, we define matrix coefficients for distributional vectors of certain representations of $G$. We also formulate Gelfand-Kazhdan criteria for Jacobi groups which could be used to prove the multiplicity one theorem for Fourier-Jacobi models.

Abstract:In this paper, we deduce explicit multiplicity formulas of the Fourier-Jacobi model for Deligne-Lusztig characters of finite symplectic groups, unitary groups, and general linear groups. We then apply these results to deduce the explicit depth zero local descent (à la Soudry and Tanay) for $p$-adic unitary groups. The result is a concrete example in the context of non-tempered Gan-Gross-Prasad program.

Rankin-Selberg's local zeta integrals produce linear functionals on generic irreducible admissible smooth representations of $GL_n(k)\times GL_r(k)$, with certain invariance properties. Abstract:Braverman and Kazhdan proposed a conjecture, later refined by Ngô and broadened to the framework of spherical varieties by Sakellaridis, that asserts that affine spherical varieties admit Schwartz spaces, Fourier transforms, and Poisson summation formulae. The first author in joint work with B.~Liu and later the first two authors proved these conjectures for certain spherical varieties $Y$ built out of triples of quadratic spaces. However, in these works the Fourier transform was only proven to exist. In the present paper we give, for the first time, an explicit formula for the Fourier transform on $Y.$ We also prove that it is unitary in the nonarchimedean case. As preparation for this result, we give explicit formulae for Fourier transforms on Braverman-Kazhdan spaces attached to maximal parabolic subgroups of split, simple, simply connected groups. These Fourier transforms are of independent interest, for example, from the point of view of analytic number theory.

Abstract:Motivated by recent works by Radchenko and Viazovska and by Ramos and Sousa, we find sufficient conditions for a pair of discrete subsets of the real line to be a uniqueness or a non-uniqueness pair for the Fourier transform. These conditions are close to each other. The uniqueness result can be upgraded to an interpolation formula, which in turn produces an abundance of discrete measures with discrete Fourier transform.

Abstract:Let F be a local field. In the case of F being the real field, Pierre Cartier constructed Heisenberg-Weil representations of a Heisenberg group in families using non-self-dual lattices. This result was later reformulated by Jae-Hyun Yang in another paper. We extend this family of representations to a representation of a Jacobi subgroup by incorporating a rational Metaplectic group. In the case of F being a non-archimedean local field of odd residual characteristic or a finite unramified extension of the field of 2-adic numbers, we obtain similar results for a Jacobi group by incorporating a Metaplectic group.

Abstract:We consider the Fourier expansions of automorphic forms on general Lie groups, with a particular emphasis on exceptional groups. After describing some principles underlying known results on GL(n), Sp(4), and G_2, we perform an analysis of the expansions on split real forms of E_6 and E_7 where simplifications take place for automorphic realizations of real representations which have small Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. Though the character varieties are more complicated for exceptional groups, we explain how the nonvanishing Fourier coefficients for small representations behave analogously to Fourier coefficients on GL(n). We use this mechanism, for example, to show that the minimal representation of either E_6 or E_7 never occurs in the cuspidal automorphic spectrum. We also give a complete description of the internal Chevalley modules of all complex Chevalley groups -- that is, the orbit decomposition of the Levi factor of a maximal parabolic on its unipotent radical. This generalizes classical results on trivectors and in particular includes a full description of the complex character variety orbits for all maximal parabolics. The results of this paper have been applied in the string theory literature to the study of BPS instanton contributions to graviton scattering [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1111.2983" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1111.2983">arXiv:1111.2983</a>].

Abstract:We use the method of Bruinier--Raum to show that symmetric formal Fourier--Jacobi series, in the cases of norm-Euclidean imaginary quadratic fields, are Hermitian modular forms. Consequently, combining a theorem of Yifeng Liu, we deduce Kudla's conjecture on the modularity of generating series of special cycles of arbitrary codimension for unitary Shimura varieties defined in these cases.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a (split) reductive group over $\mathbb{F}_q$, and let $M$ be a standard Levi subgroup of $G$. Consider $P$ and $P'$ parabolics in $G$, containing $M$, with Levi factor $M$. we let $U = R_u(P)$ (resp., $U' = R_u(P')$) denote the unipotent radical; and we denote by $\overline{G/U}$ (resp., $\overline{G/U'}$) the affinization of the corresponding homogeneous space. Extending the work of Braverman-Kazhdan ( arXiv:9809.112 , arXiv:0206.119 ) to general parabolic basic affine (or ``paraspherical") space, we propose a construction for certain intertwining operators $F_{P',P}: S(\overline{G/U}(\mathbb{F}_q), \mathbb{C}) \to S(\overline{G/U'}(\mathbb{F}_q), \mathbb{C})$ for a suitable function spaces $S$, defined via kernels analogous to those appearing (loc. cit.). We then study the extent to which these intertwiners are normalized. We show that, for opposite $(n-1)+1$ parabolics of $\textrm{SL}_n$, our transform reduces to the classical linear Fourier transform; and that, for opposite unipotents in $\textrm{SL}_3$ or opposite Siegel parabolics in $\textrm{Sp}_4$, our transforms are given by a Fourier transform on a quadric cone (with kernel coming from a Kloosterman sum). We prove Fourier inversion for this transform on (a natural subclass of) functions on the quadric cone, establishing a finite-field analogue of the quadric Fourier transform of Gurevich-Kazhdan <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2304.13993" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2304.13993">arXiv:2304.13993</a> and Getz-Hsu-Leslie <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2103.10261" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2103.10261">arXiv:2103.10261</a>.

Abstract:It is known that for a dual pair of unitary groups with equal size, zeta integrals arising from Rallis inner product formula give the central values of certain automorphic L-functions, which have applications to arithmetic. In this paper we explicitly calculate archimedean zeta integrals of this type for U(2,1). In particular we compute the matrix coefficients of Weil representations using joint harmonics in the Fock model, and those of discrete series using Schmid operators.
