The proof is based on the theory of exponentially dichotomous linear systems and an improved KAM machinery adapted for the perturbations of angle dependent unperturbed parts.

Abstract:We study the problem of persistence of minimal invariant sets with smooth boundary for a certain class of discrete-time set-valued dynamical systems, naturally arising in the context of random dynamical systems with bounded noise. In particular, we introduce a single-valued map, the so-called boundary map, which has the property that a certain class of invariant submanifolds for this map is in one-to-one correspondence with invariant sets for the corresponding set-valued map. We show that minimal invariant sets with smooth boundary persist under small perturbations of the set-valued map, provided that the associated boundary map is normally hyperbolic at the unit normal bundle of the boundary.

Abstract:Let u(t, x) be the solution to the Cauchy problem of a scalar conservation law in one space dimension. It is well known that even for smooth initial data the solution can become discontinuous in finite time and global entropy weak solution can best lie in the space of bounded total variations. It is impossible that the solutions belong to, for example, H-1 because by Sobolev embedding theorem H-1 functions are Holder continuous. However, the author notes that from any point (t, x), he can draw a generalized characteristic downward which meets the initial axis at y = alpha(t, x). If he regards u as a function of (t, y), it indeed belongs to H-1 as a function of y if the initial data belongs to H-1. He may call this generalized persistence (of high regularity) of the entropy weak solutions. The main purpose of this paper is to prove some kinds of generalized persistence (of high regularity) for the scalar and 2 x 2 Temple system of hyperbolic conservation laws in one space dimension.
Invariant Distributions of Partially Hyperbolic Systems: Fractal Graphs, Excessive Regularity, and Rigidity

Abstract:We introduce a novel approach linking fractal geometry to partially hyperbolic dynamics, revealing several new phenomena related to regularity jumps and rigidity. One key result demonstrates a sharp phase transition for partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms $f \in \mathrm{Diff}^\infty_{\mathrm{vol}}(\mathbb{T}^3)$ with a contracting center direction: $f$ is $C^\infty$-rigid if and only if both $E^s$ and $E^c$ exhibit Hölder exponents exceeding the expected threshold. Specifically, we prove: If the Hölder exponent of $E^s$ exceeds the expected value, then $E^s$ is $C^{1+}$ and $E^u \oplus E^s$ is jointly integrable. If the Hölder exponent of $E^c$ exceeds the expected value, then $W^c$ forms a $C^{1+}$ foliation. If $E^s$ (or $E^c$) does not exhibit excessive Hölder regularity, it must have a fractal graph. These and related results originate from a general non-fractal invariance principle: for a skew product $F$ over a partially hyperbolic system $f$, if $F$ expands fibers more weakly than $f$ along $W^u_f$ in the base, then for any $F$-invariant section, if $\Phi$ has no a fractal graph, then it is smooth along $W^u_f$ and holonomy-invariant. Motivated by these findings, we propose a new conjecture on the stable fractal or stable smooth behavior of invariant distributions in typical partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms.

Abstract:A persistent dynamical system in $\mathbb{R}^d_{> 0}$ is one whose solutions have positive lower bounds for large $t$, while a permanent dynamical system in $\mathbb{R}^d_{> 0}$ is one whose solutions have uniform upper and lower bounds for large $t$. These properties have important applications for the study of mathematical models in biochemistry, cell biology, and ecology. Inspired by reaction network theory, we define a class of polynomial dynamical systems called tropically endotactic. We show that two-dimensional tropically endotactic polynomial dynamical systems are permanent, regardless of the values of (possibly time-dependent) parameters in these systems. These results generalize the permanence of two-dimensional reversible, weakly reversible, and endotactic mass action systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the transverse stability of random dynamical systems (RDS). Suppose a RDS on a Riemann manifold possesses a non-random invariant submanifold, what conditions can guarantee that a random attractor of the RDS restrained on the invariant submanifold is a random attractor with respect to the whole manifold? By the linearization technique, we prove that if all the normal Lyapunov exponents with respect to the tangent space of the submanifold are negative, then the attractor on the submanifold is also a random attractor of the whole manifold. This result extends the idea of the transverse stability analysis of deterministic dynamical systems in [1, 3]. As an explicit example, we discuss the complete synchronization in network of coupled maps with both stochastic topologies and maps, which extends the well-known master stability function (MSF) approach for deterministic cases to stochastic cases.

Abstract:Let $(M,g_0)$ be a closed oriented hyperbolic manifold of dimension at least $3$. By the volume entropy inequality of G. Besson, G. Courtois and S. Gallot, for any Riemannian metric $g$ on $M$ with same volume as $g_0$, its volume entropy $h(g)$ satisfies $h(g)\geq n-1$ with equality only when $g$ is isometric to $g_0$. We show that the hyperbolic metric $g_0$ is stable in the following sense: if $g_i$ is a sequence of Riemaniann metrics on $M$ of same volume as $g_0$ and if $h(g_i)$ converges to $n-1$, then there are smooth subsets $Z_i\subset M$ such that both $\mathrm{Vol}(Z_i,g_i)$ and $\mathrm{Area}(\partial Z_i,g_i)$ tend to $0$, and $(M\setminus Z_i,g_i)$ converges to $(M,g_0)$ in the measured Gromov-Hausdorff topology. The proof relies on showing that any spherical Plateau solution for $M$ is intrinsically isomorphic to $(M,\frac{(n-1)^2}{4n} g_0)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Melnikov's persistence for completely degenerate Hamiltonian systems with the following Hamiltonian \begin{equation*} H(x,y,u,v)=h(y)+g(u,v)+\varepsilon P(x,y,u,v),~~~(x,y,u,v)\in \mathbb{T}^n\times{G}\times \mathbb{R}^d\times \mathbb{R}^d, \end{equation*} where $n\geq2$ and $d\geq1$ are positive integers, $G\subset\mathbb{R}^n$, $g=o(|u|^2+|v|^2)$ admits complete degeneracy and certain transversality, and $\varepsilon P$ is the small perturbation. This is a try in studying lower-dimensional invariant tori in the normal complete degeneracy. Under Rüssmann-like non-degenerate condition and transversality condition, we apply the homotopy invariance of topological degree to remove the first order terms about $u$ and $v$ and employ the quasi-linear KAM iterative procedure to derive the persistence of lower-dimensional invariant tori.

Non-persistence of strongly isolated singularities, and geometric applications

Abstract:We obtain a generic regularity result for stationary integral $n$-varifolds assumed to have only strongly isolated singularities inside $N$-dimensional Riemannian manifolds, without any restriction on the dimension ($n\geq 2$) and codimension. As a special case, we prove that for any $n\geq 2$ and any compact $(n+1)$-dimensional manifold $M$ the following holds: for a generic choice of the background metric $g$ all stationary integral $n$-varifolds in $(M,g)$ will either be entirely smooth or have at least one singular point that is not strongly isolated. In other words, for a generic metric only "more complicated" singularities may possibly persist. This implies, for instance, a generic finiteness result for the class of all closed minimal hypersurfaces of area at most $4\pi^2-\varepsilon$ (for any $\varepsilon>0$) in nearly round four-spheres: we can thus give precise answers, in the negative, to the questions of persistence of the Clifford football and of Hsiang's hyperspheres in nearly-round metrics. The aforementioned main regularity result is achieved as a consequence of the fine analysis of the Fredholm index of the Jacobi operator for such varifolds: we prove on the one hand an exact formula relating that number to the Morse indices of the conical links at the singular points, while on the other hand we show that such an index is non-negative for all such varifolds if the ambient metric is generic.

Abstract:We analyze the statistical physics of self-propelled particles from a general theoretical framework that properly describes the most salient characteristic of active motion, persistence, in arbitrary spatial dimensions. Such a framework allows the development of a Smoluchowski-like equation for the probability density of finding a particle at a given position and time, without assuming an explicit orientational dynamics of the self-propelling velocity as Langevin-like equation-based models do. Also, the Brownian motion due to thermal fluctuations and the active one due to a general intrinsic persistent motion of the particle are taken into consideration on an equal footing. The persistence of motion is introduced in our formalism in the form of a two-time memory function, K(t,t^{'}). We focus on the consequences when K(t,t^{'})∼(t/t^{'})^{-η}exp[-Γ(t-t^{'})], Γ being the characteristic persistence time, and show that it precisely describes a variety of active motion patterns characterized by η. We find analytical expressions for the experimentally obtainable intermediate scattering function, the time dependence of the mean-squared displacement, and the kurtosis.
Persistence in Active Turbulence

Abstract:Active fluids such as bacterial swarms, self-propelled colloids, and cell tissues can all display complex spatio-temporal vortices that are reminiscent of inertial turbulence. This emergent behavior despite the overdamped nature of these systems is the hallmark of active turbulence. In this letter, using a generalized hydrodynamic model, we present a study of the persistence problem in active turbulence. We report that the persistence time of passive tracers inside the coherent vortices follows a Weibull probability density whose shape and scale are decided by the strength of activity -- contrary to inertial turbulence that displays power-law statistics in this region. In the turbulent background, the persistence time is exponentially distributed that is remindful of inertial turbulence. Finally we show that the driver of persistence inside the coherent vortices is the temporal decorrelation of the topological field, whereas it is the vortex turnover time in the turbulent background.

Abstract:Consider a C1 vector field together with an ergodic invariant probability that has ℓ nonzero Lyapunov exponents. Using orthonormal moving frames along a generic orbit we construct a linear system of ℓ differential equations which is a linearized Liao standard system. We show that Lyapunov exponents of this linear system coincide with all the nonzero exponents of the given vector field with respect to the given ergodic probability. Moreover, we prove that these Lyapunov exponents have a persistence property meaning that a small perturbation to the linear system (Liao perturbation) preserves both the sign and the value of the nonzero Lyapunov exponents.
Invariant Manifolds for Random Parabolic Evolution Equations with almost sectorial operators

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a way of analyzing the random dynamics of stochastic evolution equations with a non-dense domain. Such problems cover several types of evolution equations. We are particularly interested in evolution equations with non-homogeneous boundary conditions of white noise type. We prove the existence of stable, unstable, and center manifolds around a stationary trajectory by combining integrated semigroup theory and invariant manifold theory. The results are applied to stochastic parabolic equations with white noise at the boundary.

Abstract:The theory of persistence modules is an emerging field of algebraic topology which originated in topological data analysis. In these notes we provide a concise introduction into this field and give an account on some of its interactions with geometry and analysis. In particular, we present applications of persistence to symplectic topology, including the geometry of symplectomorphism groups and embedding problems. Furthermore, we discuss topological function theory which provides a new insight on oscillation of functions. The material should be accessible to readers with a basic background in algebraic and differential topology.

Abstract:We prove the existence of local stable, unstable, and center manifolds for stochastic semiflows induced by rough differential equations driven by rough paths valued stochastic processes around random fixed points of the equation. Examples include stochastic differential equations driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H > \frac{1}{4}$. In case the top Lyapunov exponent is negative, we derive almost sure exponential stability of the solution.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider random dynamical systems formed by concatenating maps acting on the unit interval in an independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) fashion. Considered as a stationary Markov process, the random dynamical system possesses a unique stationary measure . We consider a class of non-square-integrable observables , mostly of form , where is a non-recurrent point (in particular a non-periodic point) satisfying some other genericity conditions and, more generally, regularly varying observables with index . The two types of maps we concatenate are a class of piecewise expanding maps and a class of intermittent maps possessing an indifferent fixed point at the origin. Under conditions on the dynamics and , we establish Poisson limit laws, convergence of scaled Birkhoff sums to a stable limit law, and functional stable limit laws in both the annealed and quenched case. The scaling constants for the limit laws for almost every quenched realization are the same as those of the annealed case and determined by . This is in contrast to the scalings in quenched central limit theorems where the centering constants depend in a critical way upon the realization and are not the same for almost every realization.
