Abstract:A two-component generalization of the Camassa-Holm equation and its reduction proposed recently by Xue, Du and Geng [Appl. Math. Lett. {\bf 146} (2023) 108795] are studied. For this two-component equation, its missing bi-Hamiltonian structure is constructed and a Miura transformation is introduced so that it may be regarded as a modification of the very first two-component Camassa-Holm equation. %[Phys. Rev. E {\bf 53} (1996) ; Lett. Math. Phys. {\bf 53 } (2006)]. Using a proper reciprocal transformation, a particular reduction of this two-component equation, which admits $N-$ peakon solution, is brought to the celebrated Burgers equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a multi-component system of Camassa-Holm equation, denoted by CH($N$,$H$) with 2N components and an arbitrary smooth function $H$. This system is shown to admit Lax pair and infinitely many conservation laws. We particularly study the case of N=2 and derive the bi-Hamiltonian structures and peaked soliton (peakon) solutions for some examples.

Abstract:The compatible trios of two-component homogeneous Hamiltonian operators were classified and some bi-Hamiltonian systems were constructed by Lorenzoni et al (2018 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 51 045202). In this paper, we study three two-component bi-Hamiltonian systems proposed by them. By means of the prolongation structure technique, we construct the missing Lax representations for those systems and confirm their integrability. Furthermore, we explore the possible connections between those systems and the known integrable systems.

Abstract:In this Letter, we present a bi-Hamiltonian structure for the two-component Novikov equation. We also show that proper reduction of this bi-Hamiltonian structure leads to the Hamiltonian operators found by Hone and Wang for the Novikov equation.

Abstract:We propose a generalized super Camassa-Holm equation, which is completely integrable in the sense of admitting of a Lax pair and a bi-Hamiltonian structure. Through Dirac reduction, we obtain a bi-Hamiltonian structure of the super Camassa-Holm equation introduced by Geng, Xue and Wu [Stud. Appl. Math. 130 (2013) 1-16]. By introducing an appropriate reciprocal transformation, we connect the generalized super Camassa-Holm equation with a negative generalized super KdV equation, which is also equipped with a Lax pair and a bi-Hamiltonian structure.

Abstract:By introducing a 3 × 3 matrix spectral problem, a hierarchy of generalized Heisenberg equations is derived with the aid of the zero-curvature equation. The bi-Hamiltonian form for the hierarchy of generalized Heisenberg equations is established by using the trace identity. Furthermore, we construct the infinite conservation laws of the first nontrivial equation in the hierarchy by means of spectral parameter expansion.

Abstract:Upon introducing a specific 4 × 4 matrix eigenvalue problem with four components, we would like to construct a Liouville integrable Hamiltonian hierarchy, within the zero curvature formulation. Bi-Hamiltonian formulations are furnished via the trace identity, through which the Liouville integrability of the resulting hierarchy is explored. The first two nonlinear examples are novel generalized combined nonlinear Schrödinger equations and modified Korteweg–de Vries equations.

Abstract:In this paper, the multi-symplectic formulations of the two-component Camassa–Holm system are presented. Both the multi-symplectic structure and two local conservation laws of the generalized two-component Camassa–Holm model are proposed for its first-order canonical form. Then, combining the Fourier pseudo-spectral method in the spatial domain with the midpoint method in the time dimension, the multi-symplectic Fourier pseudo-spectral scheme is constructed for the first-order canonical form. Meanwhile, the discrete scheme of the residuals of the multi-symplectic structure and two local conservation laws are also provided. By using the multi-symplectic Fourier pseudo-spectral scheme, the evolution of one- and two-soliton solutions for the generalized two-component Camassa–Holm model is regained. The structure-preserving properties and the reliability of the numerical scheme are illustrated by the tiny numerical residuals (less than 3.5 × 10 −8 ) of the conservation laws as well as the tiny numerical variations (less than 1 × 10 −9 ) of the amplitudes and the propagating velocities of the solitons.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the geometric background, integrability and peaked solutions of a (1+n)-component Camassa–Holm (CH) system and some related multi-component integrable systems. Firstly, we show this system arises from the invariant curve flows in the Möbius geometry and serves as the dual integrable counterpart of a geometrical (1+n)-component Korteweg–de Vries system in the sense of tri-Hamiltonian duality. Moreover, we obtain an integrable two-component modified CH system using a generalized Miura transformation. Finally, we provide a necessary condition, under which the dual integrable systems can inherit the Bäcklund correspondence from the original ones.

Abstract:We study a class of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) that admit the same bi-Hamiltonian structure as the Witten–Dijkgraaf–Verlinde–Verlinde (WDVV) equations: a Ferapontov-type first-order Hamiltonian operator and a homogeneous third-order Hamiltonian operator in a canonical Doyle–Potëmin form, which are compatible. Using various equivalence groups, we classify such equations in two-component and three-component cases. In a four-component case we add further evidence to the conjecture that there exists only one integrable system of the above type. Finally, we give an example of the six-component system with required bi-Hamiltonian structure. To streamline the symbolic computation, we develop an algorithm to find the aforementioned Hamiltonian operators, which includes putting forward a conjecture on the structure of the metric parameterizing the first-order Hamiltonian operator.

Abstract:We propose and develop another approach to constructing multi-soliton solutions of an integrable two-component Camassa-Holm (CH2) system. With the help of a reciprocal transformation and a gauge transformation, we relate the CH2 system to a negative flow of the Broer-Kaup or two-boson hierarchy. The solutions of this negative flow are given in terms of Wronskians via Darboux transformation. Then the multi-soliton solutions of the CH2 system are recovered in parametric form by inverting the reciprocal transformation and the gauge transformation.

Abstract:This paper examines a generalization of the Camassa-Holm equation from the perspective of integrability. Using the framework developed by Dubrovin on bi-Hamiltonian deformations and the general theory of quasi-integrability, we demonstrate that a unique bi-Hamiltonian structure is possible for this generalized equation only when it reduces to the original CH equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate multidimensional first-order quasi-linear systems and find necessary conditions for them to admit Hamiltonian formulation. The insufficiency of the conditions is related to the Poisson cohomology of the admissible Hamiltonian operators. We present in detail the examples of two-dimensional, two-components systems of hydrodynamic type and of a real reduction of the 3-waves system.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a super Korteweg-de Vries (sKdV) equation proposed by Kupershmidt which possesses a Lax operator with three fully nonlocal terms. The Lax operator is reformulated so that it is of the super constrained modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (scmKP) type. By calculating the bi-Hamiltonian structure of the scmKP hierarchy and employing Dirac reduction, we obtain the bi-Hamiltonian structure of the sKdV equation. We also present a spectral problem of its modified system.

Abstract:For a -component Camassa–Holm equation, as well as a -component generalization of the modified Camassa–Holm equation, nonlocal infinitesimal symmetries quadratically dependent on eigenfunctions of linear spectral problems are constructed from functional gradients of spectral parameters. With appropriate pseudopotentials, these nonlocal infinitesimal symmetries are prolonged to enlarged systems, and then explicitly integrated to generate symmetry transformations in finite form for the enlarged systems. As implementations of these finite symmetry transformations, some kinds of nontrivial solutions and Bäcklund transformations are derived for both equations.
