Abstract:We consider skew-products of quadratic maps over certain Misiurewicz-Thurston maps and study their statistical properties. We prove that, when the coupling function is a polynomial of odd degree, such a system admits two positive Lyapunov exponents almost everywhere and a unique absolutely continuous invariant probability measure.

Abstract:We study a family of skew-products of smooth functions having a unique critical point of degree over a strongly expanding map of the circle and prove that these systems admit two positive Lyapunov exponents. This extends an analogous result of Viana who considered, in the seminal paper (Viana in Inst Hautes Études Sci Publ Math 85:63–96, 1997), the quadratic case .

Abstract:We first study the discrete Schrödinger equations with analytic potentials given by a class of transformations. It is shown that if the coupling number is large, then the Lyapunov exponent equals approximately to the logarithm of this coupling number. When the transformation becomes the skew-shift mapping, we prove that the Lyapunov exponent is weak Hölder continuous, and the spectrum satisfies Anderson Localization and contains large intervals. Moreover, all of these conclusions are non-perturbative.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a class of special Jacobi cocycles, some element of which is a measurable function defined on the high dimensional torus. We prove that no matter the underlying dynamics is the shift or the skew-shift, the non-perturbative positive Lyapunov exponent holds for any irrational frequency, when the coupling number is large. What's more, if the frequency becomes to be the Diophantine number, then the Lyapunov exponent is weak continuity in the energy.

Let M-2(C) be a normed space endowed with the matrix norm, whose elements are the 2 x 2 matrices. Assume that A : X x epsilon -> M-2(C) is jointly continuous, depends analytically on x is an element of T and is Holder continuous in E is an element of epsilon, where epsilon is a compact metric space and T is the torus. We prove that if two Lyapunov exponents are distinct at one point E-0 is an element of epsilon, then these two Lyapunov exponents are Holder continuous at any E in a ball central at Eo. Moreover, we will give the expressions of the radius of this ball and the Holder exponents of the two Lyapunov exponents.

Abstract:By using the methods including Weyl ’s difference principle,large deviation theorem, avalanche principle and so on,we considered the problem of the Lyapunov exponent positivity and continuity of the discrete analytic Schr?dinger operator defined by the high order skew shift Tω.We proved that if the potential energy factor was big enough,then the Lyapunov exponent of the system was positive and week H?lder continuity.This results extended the conclusion about the Lyapunov exponent positivity and continuity with the lower order skew shift to the one with the high order skew shift.

Abstract:We quantify the coupling asymptotics for the Lyapunov exponent of the Schrödinger cocycle over strongly expanding maps x↦bx(mod1) on T , for a large class of potential functions. We refine the previous lower bound results for these Lyapunov exponents, to get asymptotic results for all E∈R and for sufficiently expanding circle maps.

Abstract:We present a dynamical and spectral study of Ostrowski's map based on the use of transfer operators. The Ostroswki dynamical system is obtained as a skew-product of the Gauss map (it has the Gauss map as a base and interval fibers) and produces expansions of real numbers with respect to an irrational base given by continued fractions. By studying spectral properties of the associated transfer operator, we show that the Ostroswki dynamical system admits an absolutely continuous invariant measure with piecewise holomorphic density and exponential mixing properties. We deduce a central limit theorem for associated random variables of an arithmetic nature and motivated by applications in inhomogeneous Diophantine approximation, we get Bowen--Ruelle type implicit estimates in terms of spectral elements for the Hausdorff dimension of a certain bounded digit set.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of positive Lyapunov exponents for three different types of skew products, whose fibers are compact Riemannian surfaces and the action on the fibers are by volume preserving diffeomorphisms. These three types include skew products with a volume preserving Anosov diffeomorphism on the basis; or with a subshift of finite type on the basis preserving a measure with product structure; or locally constant skew products with Bernoulli shifts on the basis. We prove the $C^1$-density and $C^r$-openess of the existence of positive Lyapunov exponents on a set of positive measure in the space of such skew products.

Abstract:We study the class of transitive skew-products associated with iterated function systems of circle diffeomorphisms. We can approximate any transitive skew-product by maps in this class that have a robustly zero Lyapunov exponent. In particular, we prove the existence of non-hyperbolic ergodic measures for an open and dense subset of transitive skew-products. Moreover, these measures have full support and are the weak$^*$ limit of periodic measures.

Abstract:Let $f(z,w)=(p(z),q(z,w))$ be a polynomial skew product such that the degrees of $p$ and $q$ are grater than or equal to $2$. Under one or two conditions, we prove that $f$ is conjugate to a monomial map on an invariant region near infinity. The monomial map and the region are determined by the degree of $p$ and a Newton polygon of $q$. Moreover, the region is included in the attracting basin of a superattracting fixed or indeterminacy point at infinity, or in the closure of the attracting basins of two point at infinity.

Abstract:The procedure of double extension of vector spaces endowed with non-degenerate bilinear forms allows us to introduce the class of generalized -oscillator algebras over an arbitrary field . Starting from basic structural properties and the canonical forms of skew-adjoint endomorphisms, we will proceed to classify the subclass of quadratic nilpotent algebras and characterize those algebras with quadratic dimension 2. This will enable us to recover the classification of real oscillator algebras, a.k.a Lorentzian algebras, given by Medina et al. (Ann Sci École Norm Sup 18:553–561, 1985).

Abstract:We present a representation of skew-orthogonal polynomials of symplectic type ($\beta=4$) in terms of a matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem, for weights of the form ${\rm e}^{-V(z)}$ where $V$ is a polynomial of even degree and positive leading coefficient. This is done by representing skew-orthogonality as a kind of multiple-orthogonality. From this, we derive a $\beta=4$ analogue of the Christoffel-Darboux formula. Finally, our Riemann-Hilbert representation allows us to derive a Lax pair whose compatibility condition may be viewed as a $\beta=4$ analogue of the Toda lattice.

Abstract:We prove that for any polynomial map with a single critical point its lower Lyapunov exponent at the critical value is negative if and only if the map has an attracting cycle. Similar statement holds for the exponential maps and some other complex dynamical systems. We prove further that for the unicritical polynomials with positive area Julia sets almost every point of the Julia set has zero Lyapunov exponent. Part of this statement generalizes as follows: every point with positive upper Lyapunov exponent in the Julia set of an arbitrary polynomial is not a Lebegue density point.
