Abstract:Due to the overall development and progress of the economy and society, the damage to the environment caused by human production activities has become a major issue of widespread concern. Excessive emissions of greenhouse gases represented by carbon dioxide have caused global warming, rising sea levels, increased extreme severe weather and other environmental problems, seriously threatening the sustainable development of human society. According to the analysis report CO2 Emissions in 2022 released by the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2022, the global energy carbon emissions rose to 36.8 billion tons, an increase of nearly 20 times compared to 1.95 billion tons in 1900, and the global atmospheric CO2 concentration reached 417.2 ppm (parts per million), a record high in both total and concentration. The global average surface temperature is about 1.15°C above pre-industrial (1850–1900) levels. Scientists predict that by the mid-2030s, temperatures will rise by 1.5°C or more, and sea levels around the world will rise by 2–3 m over the next 2000 years. If the temperature rises by 2°C, the sea level would rise by 6 m. By the end of this century, extreme sea level events that were rare in the past century may occur every year, and extreme weather events such as heat waves, droughts, floods, typhoons and cold waves will become more frequent. To alleviate the environmental problems caused by economic development, the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) issued The Brundtland Report in 1987, proposing the concept of sustainable development, which means meeting the needs and aspirations of the present without compromising the resources needed for the development of future generations. The world is facing global climate change and increasingly serious environmental risks, and each country needs to focus on the coordinated and sustainable development of economy, resources and ecology, and jointly establish environmentally inclusive sustainable development goals to build a low-carbon economic society.
