Abstract:This article investigates a long-term optimal spatial pricing strategy for a ride-sourcing platform that serves a particular (possibly populated) area with profit-driven service providers (i.e., drivers) and time- and price-sensitive customers (i.e., passengers). By observing that oftentimes, the price strategy is anisotropic and spatial-dependent, both the supply and request are endogenous, and we build an analytical bi-level optimization mode. In the upper-level formulation, the ride-sourcing platform aims at setting up the spatially heterogeneous pricing strategy to maximize its total profit. However, in the lower level, we solve the trip distribution model that characterizes the flow rates among zones given the travel demand rate at each zone. We prove that when the platform seeks to expand its business, the optimal number of participating drivers and their optimal wages will be influenced not only by the pricing strategy but also by the level of service of the entire platform. Our further investigation shows that the profit at a particular zone can be influenced by the potential customers’ service requests from other zones. Finally, we use the real-world data provided by DiDi Chuxing to numerically illustrate our model and theoretical results.

Abstract:This study investigates the optimization of cooperation between B2B platform and 3PL for platform-based logistics services. In view of two pricing schemes (i.e., reseller and MSP modes) and two platform types (i.e., decentralized and centralized platforms), we use game theory and propose four pricing models to explore the interactions between the platform and 3PL under different scenarios. Optimal solutions of four analytical models are provided. By comparison analyses, we evaluate the effects of pricing schemes on the service prices and performance of both players. We find that the switch from the reseller mode to the MSP mode does not influence the service price of decentralized platforms, but it increases that of centralized platforms. The decentralized platform always chooses the MSP mode to improve profit, whereas the centralized platform will adopt the reseller mode to achieve higher social welfare. Conversely, their logistics partners have the opposite preferences. We also evaluate the effects of platform types on service prices. Results show that users of the centralized platform can pay less on logistics services than those of the decentralized platform. In addition, the preference of 3PLs on platform types is significantly influenced by the loyalty type of users and their attitude to the platform channel.

Abstract:Using the differences in user attribution and profitability among different business models employed by technology‐trading platforms, a two‐stage dynamic game pricing model was constructed considering three pricing strategies. The research found that (1) in the information‐intermediary business model, technology‐trading platforms should adopt a two‐stage pricing model that first emphasizes transaction fees followed by mixed system charges. (2) In the one‐stop service business model, technology‐trading platforms can achieve higher returns by comprehensively using big data analysis to tailor mixed fees. (3) The traditional information‐intermediary platform can adopt a pricing model with mixed system charges to transition to a one‐stop service platform.

Abstract:In recent years, the rapid development of logistics has become the driving force of the construction of Logistics Information Platforms, nevertheless, most of which are still underdeveloped, especially the charging and pricing mechanism of the platform is inadequate. Based on the bargain method of the game theory, this essay will build a pricing model and conduct a three-round bargaining reverse regression calculation towards logistics software customized services, resulting in its optimal pricing strategy. Taking National Transport Logistics Public Information Platform as the analyzing example, this essay provides theoretical support for the optimal pricing strategy of logistics software customized services.

Abstract:The impact of pricing strategy on the profitability of e-commerce platform is studied. First of all, based on the e-commerce platform, considering the interests of the platform, the seller and the buyer in the transaction process, it is of practical and theoretical significance to explore the strategic choice of e-commerce platform pricing from the perspective of game theory. Then, through research, it is found that the operation of the e-commerce platform has distinct life cycle characteristics, that is, the initial use of various subsidy strategies to attract the entry of sellers and buyers, and the medium-term use of asymmetric pricing strategies combined with external response and demand elasticity to ensure the effectiveness of the platform. Finally, when formulating pricing strategies, e-commerce platforms should actively implement the strategy of market-oriented operation, reduce the intervention of sellers and buyers, and ensure the stable development of e-commerce platforms.

Abstract:Fresh e-commerce cannot be separated from cold chain logistics as a guarantee when supplying fresh agricultural products in different places. On the one hand, the high cost of cold chain logistics requires the cold chain logistic enterprises to price their services provided by cold chain logistic enterprises. On the other hand, it requires fresh e-commerce to reprice their products considering cold chain logistic cost. Whether the pricing strategies of both are proper affects the income of both sides, and also affects the consumers’ willingness to pay. Based on Steinberg game model and benefit equilibrium analysis, a three-stage pricing model with third-party cold chain logistic enterprise as leader, fresh e-commerce company as follower and consumer as secondary follower is established. Through the analysis of cooperative game and non-cooperative game, the optimal pricing and the best income of the cold chain logistic enterprises and the fresh e-commerce enterprises in the process of using cold chain logistics are obtained. Taking two different types of fresh products as an example, this paper simulates two kinds of fresh products based on pricing model, compares the two strategies of cooperative game and non-cooperative game, probes into the change of profit between fresh e-commerce and cold chain enterprises in different price ranges and selects pricing strategy.

Abstract:Nowadays, more and more transactions or interactions like online dating and shopping are completed on two-sided platforms involving two groups of agents. On these two-sided platforms, there often exist cross-network effects, i.e., the benefits that agents at one side receive are positively related to the number of agents at the other side, and vice versa. This paper considers such two-sided platforms, where the platforms offer a certain service to attract agents of both sides to join the platforms, and then charge agents who join the platforms a lump-sum fee to gain the profit. We present service and pricing strategies for both monopolistic and duopolistic platforms, respectively. We also investigate the impact of platforms' life cycle on their service and pricing strategies. Some managerial implications are shown.

Abstract:As the scope and complexity of logistics outsourcing services expand, logistics activity has become a separate market service. It has become a critical issue to determine how to appropriately price logistics services. In this study, we systematically review the scientific literature on the pricing of logistics services based on content analysis and bibliometric methods, focusing on the application of game theory. We compare and analyze the literature in terms of three dimensions: logistics scenarios, game models, and influencing factors. This study identifies the main players and key research scenarios of logistics pricing, analyzes6aa the most appropriate and commonly used game models, and clarifies the main influencing factors of logistics pricing. Finally, we suggest future research directions to fill gaps in existing knowledge. This study conducts a systematic review of the current state of empirical research in the field of logistics pricing, which aids in the development of new models. The results of this study help to advance logistics services from a pricing standpoint, thereby increasing the economic and environmental sustainability of logistics activities.

Abstract:Online bike-sharing market has taken off in China since 2016 and in the competition two companies stand out and occupy most of the market share. This paper provides an analysis of rental pricing mechanism for this two companies in this e-market. Firstly, the thesis builds the spontaneous evolutionary game model of the pricing for online bicycle renting and obtains the evolutionary stable strategy. Then the authors propose optimization schemes and pricing mechanism from these leasing service suppliers' perspective. On this basis above, research on how to avoid malicious competition and create a healthy market will be discussed.

Abstract:With the rapid development of renewable energy technologies, shared energy storage systems play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of integrated energy microgrid clusters. This paper introduces the cooperative operational architecture of multiple microgrids, including shared energy storage, and thoroughly analyzes the interactions and interests of each participant. The study further explores how to achieve synergistic energy optimization among microgrids using shared energy storage, considering the spatial and temporal complementarities of their net load characteristics. Additionally, the dynamic game relationships among microgrid operators (MO), shared energy storage operators (SESO), and user aggregators (UA) are analyzed, highlighting how the strategies of MO and SESO mutually constrain each other and together form the leadership layer of a Stackelberg game, with user aggregators in the lower layer. Finally, the paper demonstrates the uniqueness of the Stackelberg equilibrium and employs a combination of genetic algorithms and quadratic programming to solve it. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through case studies.

Abstract:This paper uses a Stackelberg game model to analyze the profit function composition of digital content resource producers and publishers and uses a numerical simulation method to explore the equilibrium relationships between the various factors that affect the pricing strategy. The findings are as follows: 1 platform-based publishers of digital content resources adopt a cost-plus pricing method for a single broadcast price; 2 the revenue-sharing ratio of the producers decreases as the single broadcast cost increases; 3 the viewing effect is affected by many factors, such as copyright fees, investment difficulty, sales coefficient, and unit cost. Overall, the main contribution of this manuscript is to make an innovative demonstration and analysis of the factors affecting the pricing strategy of digital content resources, and the results of this paper can promote the transaction of digital content resources and ensure the sustainable development of the digital content industry.

Abstract:2-sideness has been a hot topic since early this century in economic and management issues. Network effects and platform competitions are major characteristics of the 2-sided market. This paper analyses an asymmetric duopoly game with network effects in 2-sided markets. We present a 2-platform-2-provider game, in which only one of the platforms is making the pricing decision in the first stage. Both of the indirect and direct networks effects (INE & DNE) are considered in our model. We derive the equilibrium of this platform Stackelberg game (PSG) and also give a series of analysis. One of the important conclusions is that joint optimality hardly exists when DNE is not considered. A group of numerical test is also provided on sensitivity of each player's strategy.

Abstract:“Internet +” platform recycling is an emerging business model with two-sided market characteristics. How to meet the needs of consumers and manufacturers and how to formulate a reasonable two-sided pricing structure have become challenges faced by recycling trading platforms. Based on the theory of a two-sided market, the pricing mechanism of a monopoly platform and a model of competing platforms are studied. Consequently, a sensitivity analysis and comparison analysis are conducted, giving a pricing decision and the optimal profit of closed-loop supply chain systems. Finally, through a numerical simulation analysis, the impacts of the inter-group network externalities, service differentiation, and the matching efficiency on e-waste recycling prices and profits are obtained. The result indicates that the influences of inter-group network externalities on monopoly platforms and competing platforms are different; thus, platforms should choose pricing strategies according to their own market position. The pricing of the two types of platform is inversely proportional to the time-sensitive coefficient of the two platforms, while it is directly proportional to the matching efficiency. The improvement of the differentiation of service will increase the pricing of the platform for single-homing manufacturers without affecting the multi-homing consumers, and profits will increase accordingly.
Platformization and two-sided pricing strategies for retailers

Abstract:Turning to the theoretical methods of two-sided markets,this article studies the platformization of traditional retailers as well as the two-sided pricing modes for platforms. The main results indicate that the transition from a traditional retailer with price difference mode to one with slotting allowance does not result in a higher profit but that the transition to the platform mode with membership fees does result in a lower profit. Further,as the unit distribution cost increases,the platform with commission mode may be a desirable transi-tional alternative for a traditional retailer;as the unit distribution cost amounts to a high level,the platform with two-part tariffs mode will be more desirable and it shall raise the commission ratio for suppliers but sup-port them with a subsidy. Customers should be entertained with free of charge in this occasion. Lastly,the highly skewed pricing strategies for the platform with membership fees mode depend on the retail prices and the distribution costs. The optimal strategies for the platformized retailer indicate that both consumers and suppli-ers should be tared if the retail prices are set at a medium level by suppliers and that the suppliers should be changed while subsidizing customers if the retail prices set by suppliers are high enough. Besides,this article carries out applied investigations on the pricing modes for B2C retailers in China.

Abstract:In this paper, a two-stage model is developed to investigate the location strategy and the commodity pricing strategy for a retail firm that wants to enter a spatial market with multiple competitive facilities, where a competitor firm is already operating as a monopoly with several outlets. Expected market shares are calculated based on the stochastic customer behavior on networks. The authors provide a sufficient condition for the existence of equilibrium prices in the price game for the first time. The existence and uniqueness of the pure strategy Nash equilibrium price with a specified utility function are proved in the subgame. A metaheuristic based on tabu search is proposed to search the optimal location-price solution of the model. In addition, the authors provide two numerical examples to illustrate how to obtain the optimal solution and conduct sensitivity analysis. The analysis shows that the best location decision is robust for the follower firm, price game is more intense when incomes of consumers are lower or there are more substitution products, and neither chain retail gains from the price competition.

Abstract:A two-side platform two-stage game model was developed based on the research of Hagiu to analyze a monopoly platform pricing strategy in the video game industry.The differences between the platform's optimal pricing strategies were analyzed for the committed and not committed cases.The results show that the platform will try to attract all the game developers and core users when the platform does not commit and that there is a large difference between the core users and the light users with a high core user fraction.The profits of game developers and core users become zero when the platform provider acquires all the producers' surplus and the surplus users who have entered the market.The profit is higher and the pricing strategy remains the same when the platform chooses to commit.

Abstract:This paper aims at systematically analyzing the pricing schemes in data center network. The interaction between a monopolistic operator and customers in the network is modeled as Stackelberg game. In this model, both homogeneous- and heterogeneous-customer scenarios are analyzed. In homogeneous customer case, a special scenario is that only a single customer exists in the network. In this scenario, we observe that the Stackelberg equilibrium will lead to a Pareto-inefficient outcome. To address this problem, a two-part pricing scheme is proposed to derive a Pareto efficient outcome and benefit both the operator and customers. When there are an infinite number of homogeneous customers in the network, our analysis shows that customers' selfish action may incur zero utility to them and operator can achieve all the utility by announcing an appropriate price. As to the heterogeneous customer case, we not only analyse how the operator should price the network resources, but also introduce Paris Metro Pricing (PMP) scheme to further increase operator's profit. Since the operator's profit is not a concave function of the resource price, these studies are conducted by simulation.
