Abstract:Nanoparticles can be turned into surface-active particles by means of in situ surface activation. The surface-active particles can form particle individual layer in air/liquid interface, just like the absorption monomolecular layer of the surfactant,so they have the effect of foaming and stabilizing foam. The performance of foam produced with the compounded solution of aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles and surfactant SDS or OP-10 separately is studied. The results show that OP-10 can not make the aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles in situ surface-activate in aqueous media,or it has no synergistic effects in foaming and stabilizing foam. But anionic surfactant SDS can be adsorbed to the surface of the nanoparticles via electrostatic interaction, which forms a layer of hydrocarbon chain on the surface of the nanoparticles, and then the particles can be adsorbed onto the air/liquid interface in the form of single-layer to produce the effect of stabilizing foam. When the mass fraction of SDS is more than 0.6%, double-layer and multi-layer adsorption occurs on the surface of the nanoparticles, and the wetting balance is broken and the particles return to hydrophilic state and lose the ability of foaming and stabilizing foam. The SDS solution containing aluminum hydroxide nanopartiales of 0. 1% and has better foam sealing effect than the SDS solution without the nanopartiales, and the resistance factor can reach above 100 under the given experimental conditions.
