Abstract:Stabilization of switched systems via adaptive control is considered in the paper. The switching law is assumed to be unobservable markov process. A sufficient condition is obtained for the quadratic stabilizability based on common quadratic Lyapunov functions. Design of the adaptive control to stabilize the system is presented.

Abstract:For a class of feedforward nonlinear systems, we systematically solve the global adaptive stabilization problem. The proposed adaptive stabilizer consists of a nested saturation feedback and a tuning mechanism, which is constituted by a set of switching logics and is used to adaptively tune the saturation levels in a switching manner. It is proved that under the proposed control, global asymptotic regulation of states is achieved. The class of systems can be of arbitrary dynamic order, the contained uncertain nonlinearities need not be explicitly bounded, and even the form of nonlinearities can also be unknown.

Abstract:The problem of stability analysis for switched linear systems is studied based on the properties of the quadratic form. With the introduction of energy velocity matrix and negative definite space, sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability, instability under arbitrary switching sequence and asymptotical stability under special switching sequence are reached which can be applied to study some types of switched linear systems. These conditions can be applied not only to study the problem of stability analysis for switched linear systems, but also to design the stable switching sequence for a switched linear system. Numerical examples are used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Stability and memoryless state feedback stabilization for discrete switched systems with time delay subsystems are studied.Based on multiple Lyapunov functions theory,a sufficient condition in form of linear matrix inequalities is derived for the asymptotic stability under arbitrary switching laws.Then,a memoryless state feedback stabilization method is established,and the result is extended to uncertain discrete switched systems with time delay.A numerical example illustrates the feasibility of the designed controller.

Abstract:A switching system always comprises of several subsystems and a rule supervising the switching between the subsystems. A major problem that is often inherent to all dynamical systems is actuator saturation. Saturation is a nonlinear property that nonlinearly maps small input signals to the output, which may affect the system properties and even destroy them. In this study, stability and stabilization of a class of switched stochastic systems with saturation control was investigated. First, the variation parameter method was used to present the integral form of switched stochastic systems. Second, to guarantee that the zero solution is globally exponentially stable in mean square, two sufficient conditions were obtained using direct computation with Gronwall inequality and indirect method with matrix theory, respectively. Further, another simple sufficient condition was obtained for the stability of the systems using the row norm, column norm, and Frobenius norm. Finally, two examples were used to illustrate the preciseness and effectiveness of the results. Moreover, various control designs were observed to stabilize the systems, which differ from the technique of linear matrix inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper, the problem of quadratic stabilization of multi-input multi-output switched nonlinear systems under an arbitrary switching law is investigated. When switched nonlinear systems have uniform normal form and the zero dynamics of uniform normal form is asymptotically stable under an arbitrary switching law, state feedbacks are designed and a common quadratic Lyapunov function of all the closed-loop subsystems is constructed to realize quadratic stabilizability of the class of switched nonlinear systems under an arbitrary switching law. The results of this paper are also applied to switched linear systems.

Abstract:This article addresses the stabilization problem for a class of stochastic feedforward systems with unknown nonlinearities. Due to the unknown nonlinearities, a nested saturation control law is designed with a priori unknown saturation bounds. Then, a group of logic-based switching conditions are provided for tuning the saturation bounds adaptively. Global asymptotical stability in the probability of the system states is proven. The key features of the control approach lie in that both explicit bounds and specific forms of the nonlinearities could be unknown for designing and deploying the controller.

Abstract:In this paper, the stabilization of a class of switched linear systems are studied, in which each subsystem is controllable as a linear time-Invariant system and the minimal dwell time assumption Is satisfied, i.e., if a subsystem is remaining active, it keeps a known period of time at least. The main contribution of this paper is an asymptotically stable state feedback design algorithm and an exponentially stable state feedback design algorithm for such systems. Our methods are constructive and do not require the search for Lyapunov function.

Abstract:This paper addresses the control problem of the switched system with bounded actuators and average dwell-time. We present the switching rules for the designed controllers based on two kinds of parametric algebraic Riccati equation. The exponential stability of the switched system under the average-dwell time is ensured by the designed controllers and the switching rules. The dynamic performance of the control system is enhanced greatly by the proposed method. The simulation results illustrate the effectiveness and the usefulness of the obtained theoretical results.

Abstract:An integrated design of switching laws and feedback controllers for uncertain switched nonlinear control-affme systems with an arbitrary number of subsystems is developed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of globally asymptotically stabilizing state feedback laws are derived using the control Lyapunov function approach. Additionally, an explicit rule for constructing switching laws and formula for synthesizing feedback controllers are presented. An illustrative example confirmed the feasibility of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper studies the stabilization control synthesis of switched symmetric systems. The main contribution includes two parts. First, a necessary and sufficient condition for existence of asymptotic stable output feedback controller of symmetric switched linear systems under arbitrary switching signal is established. It is also pointed that if the condition holds, constant controller can be used as well. Next, a sufficient condition for existence of output feedback controller for quadratic stabilizability of switched symmetric systems is established. If there are only two subsystems, this condition is also necessary.

Abstract:Many practical systems in physics, biology, engineering, and information science exhibit impulsive dynamical behaviors due to abrupt changes at certain instants during the dynamical processes. In this paper, stability analysis and stabilization synthesis problems are investigated for switched impulsive systems which consisting of a family of linear constant subsystems and a rule that orchestrates the switching between them. Furthermore, there exist impulses at the switching instants. A switched quadratic Lyapunov function is introduced to check asymptotic stability of such systems. Two equivalent necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such a Lyapunov function are established, respectively. The conditions are in linear matrix inequality form and can be used to solve stabilization synthesis problem. The results are extended to the uncertain systems case as well.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of robust stability and stabilization of a class of nonlinear switched systems when each subsystem is not stabilized by a designed single static output feedback. Both the condition on robust stability only via switching and the condition on switched static output feedback controllers are expressed in terms of matrix inequalities. These conditions are derived by multiple Lyapunov functions technique and the switching rules adopted are state-dependent. All these results can be regarded as an extension of some existing results for non-switched systems.

Abstract:This technical note studies switching stabilization problems for continuous-time switched linear systems. We consider four types of switching stabilizability defined under different assumptions on the switching control input. The most general switching stabilizability is defined as the existence of a measurable switching signal under which the resulting time-varying system is asymptotically stable. Discrete switching stabilizability is defined similarly but requires the switching signal to be piecewise constant on intervals of uniform length. In addition, we define feedback stabilizability in Filippov sense (respectively, sample-and-hold sense) as the existence of a feedback law under which closed-loop Filippov solution (respectively, sample-and-hold solution) is asymptotically stable. It is proved that the four switching stabilizability notions are equivalent and their sufficient and necessary condition is the existence of a piecewise quadratic control-Lyapunov function that can be expressed as the pointwise minimum of a finite number of quadratic functions.

Abstract:In this paper, the problem of stability analysis and control synthesis of discrete-time switched systems with delayed states is addressed. Two different linear matrix inequality-based conditions are given which guarantee the existence of a switched quadratic Lyapunov function for asymptotic stability of the switched systems under consideration. The obtained linear matrix inequality conditions can also be used to solve the control synthesis problem.

Abstract:This paper considers the stability and stabilization of switched descriptor systems in discrete-time domain. First, the concept of regularity, causality are formulated for such systems. Next, the stability under arbitrary switching signals are investigated. The common Lyapunov functional method and the switched Lyapunov Junctional method are extended from the regular switched linear systems to the switched descriptor case. Some sufficient conditions are established under which the system is regular, causal and asymptotically stable under arbitrary switching signal, and., if a set of matrix inequalities is solvable, a switched state feedback controller can be designed to stabilize the system under arbitrary switching signal.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of stability analysis and control synthesis of switched systems in the discrete-time domain. The approach followed in this paper looks at the existence of a switched quadratic Lyapunov function to check asymptotic stability of the switched system under consideration. Two different linear matrix inequality-based conditions allow to check the existence of such a Lyapunov function. The first one is classical while the second is new and uses a slack variable, which makes it useful for design problems. These two conditions are proved to be equivalent for stability analysis. Investigating the static output feedback control problem, we show that the second condition is, in this case, less conservative. The reduction of the conservatism is illustrated by a numerical evaluation.

Abstract:Periodical stabilization problems for switched linear systems are investigated in this paper. For autonomous switched systems, if there exists a stable convex combination of the subsystems, then a periodically switching signal can be constructed such that the overall system is asymptotically stable. Based on this fact, for switched control systems, corresponding sufficient conditions are presented under which constant/switching direct/observer-based state feedback controller can be designed such that the corresponding closed-loop systems are asymptotically stable under some periodically switching signal. Abstract:In this paper, the stabilization of switched linear systems via constructing switching laws is addressed. The main body of this paper includes two parts. In the first part, discrete-time systems are mainly considered. First, A novel approach-event-driven scheduling strategy (EDSS) for constructing switching law to stabilize the switched system is presented. Secondly, the new approach is generalized to the case where switching law is constructed by selecting switching sequences. Thirdly, a necessary and sufficient condition for system stabilizability is established. In the second part, continuous-time systems are mainly considered. First, the invariant-interval event-driven scheduling strategy and the variant-interval event-driven scheduling strategy are presented, respectively. Secondly, the new approach is generalized to the case where switching law is constructed by selecting switching sequences as well. Thirdly, a necessary and sufficient condition for system stabilizability is established.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the stabilization for infinite-dimensional switched linear systems comprising two unstable subsystems. From the algebraic structure of the state space, two switching strategies are designed to stabilize the infinite-dimensional switched linear systems. Under these strategies and suitable assumptions, the systems with time-varying disturbances possess a good robust stability. In addition, we can also obtain an arbitrarily low switching frequency for the switched systems.
