Research and Implementation of Real-time Visual Simulation System of Satellite Motion in Orbit

Abstract:According to the deficiency of digital simulation program, we take full advantage of the reality of scene simulation and combine the orbital kinematics of satellite with computer graphics. Based on software platform-Multi-Gen Creator and Vega, the visual simulation system of satellite motion in orbit is developed. This paper describes the design and implementation of visual simulation. Then, some key technologies are introduced, such as geometric modeling and kinematics modeling, overlay area modeling, data driving to player, mixed programming between Vega and OpenGL, observer controlling, longitude and latitude displaying. The simulation results show that this virtual simulation application can well simulate the motion of satellite. And besides, it can meet the real time requirement of system simulation.
