Abstract:When the renewable energy system connects to the power electronized voltage source (PVS), such as the voltage controlled energy storage station and HVDC station, the control delay of PVS results in a fact that, the impedance phase of the PVS exceeds 90° periodically with the frequency increasing, while the impedance of renewable energy system side can be capacitive due to the existence of subsea cable. Thus, once the magnitude of PVS impedance and the renewable energy system impedance intersects at somewhere, the phase difference at the intersection can be larger than 180°, thereby the high frequency resonance (HFR) can occur. To solve the issue of resonance, usually the active damping and passive damping are employed. However, the performance of the active damping methods is severely affected by the large delay of control, while the pure passive damping method is invalid for power electronized voltage source, since the periodical variation of impedance phase cannot be effectively reshaped by the fixed reactive component. Thus, taking the scenario where the wind farm connects to a VSC-HVDC station as a studied case, a hybrid damping is proposed in this paper, the hybrid damping contains the active damping and the passive damping parts, in which active damping achieves the control delay elimination, the passive damping achieves the impedance phase regulation. Finally, the theorical analysis and the simulations validate the correctness and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
