Nearly 500 clinical trials carried out in Nordic countries since 2016 remain unpublished

Abstract:One in five (22%) clinical trials carried out in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden between 2016 and 2019 have not had their results made public, according to a report by several organisations that advocate for trial transparency.1The report, a collaboration between TranspariMED, Cochrane Denmark, Cochrane Norway, Cochrane Sweden, Dam Foundation, Melanomföreningen [the Swedish Melanoma Association], and the AllTrials campaign, looked at the 2113 clinical trials completed by 54 institutions across the five Nordic countries over a four year period.It found that, of these, the results of 475 trials involving just under 84 000 patients have not been made public.Marguerite O'Riordan, advocacy manager at TranspariMED, said, "National governments have a responsibility to protect patients and ensure that public money is not wasted.
