Characteristics of Pulmonary Function in Patients with Pulmonary Thromboembolism

Abstract:Objective To study the pulmonary function characteristics of patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE).Methods The pulmonary function test was made in 150 patients with PTE in the respiratory department of our hospital from 2004 to 2012,and the parameters of ventilation and diffusing capacity were measured and compared with those of 150 cases of healthy volunteers.Differences within the groups were analysed by two sample t test.Results ①There were no significant differences in FEV1/FVC (78.33％± 10.13％ vs 87.79％±4.57％),RV％pred (112.76％±29.83％ vs 99.82％±10.17％),and RV/TLC (41.87％±9.66％ vs 38.86％ ±5.07％)between PTE group and control group (allP ＞0.05).VC％pred,FVC％pred,FEV％pred,FEF50％,MVV％pred,TLC％pred,and DLCO％pred in PTE group were lower than those in control group (89.78％ ± 14.34％vs 103.21％ ± 10.27％,84.45％ ± 17.52％ vs 102.91％ ±6.10％,81.84％ ± 17.50％ vs 98.62％ ±11.24％,56.32±20.15 vs 79.96±22.73,86.80％±28.77％ vs 98.96％±18.17％,98.36％±17.61％vs 103.26％±17.82％,71.79％±11.02％ vs 108.92％±10.58％,P ＜0.05 or P ＜0.01).②52 cases (34.7％) had restrictively impaired pulmonary function,40 cases (26.7％) had obstructively impaired pulmonary function,seven cases (4.6％) had mixed impaired pulmonary function,and 51 cases (34.0％)had normal pulmonary function.③DLCO％ pred of 7.3.41％ of the PTE patients was lower.Conclusions Because of different pathophysiological changes,the patients with PTE in the early stage of recovery have different changes in pulmonary function,which provides important reference for clinical efficacy and prognosis assessment.
