Abstract:Distinguished young scholars of ethnic minorities who have been funded by the National Science Fund of China(NSFC) are outstanding representatives for scientific talents of ethnic minorities. According to the questionnaire survey and CV analysis on 71 ethnic minority gainers of NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars, this thesis tends to study on their distribution characteristics, family background, educational experience and occupational activities. The research finds that the distribution of these "Distinguished Young Scholars" is unbalanced, and the growth environment has key effects on them; the intergenerational transmission of family background is not obvious, however, the difference between urban and rural family has great impact on their growth; for those who are born in the edge of society, the government ’s supporting policy plays an important role on their growth; superior elementary and higher education, and the research training experience of major universities at home or abroad, as well as post-doc experience in first-class research institute have significant influence on their growth; they serve at major universities and Chinese Academy of Sciences, and they could based on their own fields and take an active part in domestic and overseas. Based on these findings, this thesis proposes corresponding policy advices for speeding up the ethnic minority scientific talents cultivation in the new period.
