Abstract:The Mobile Internet is an integrated product of the traditional internet and mobile communications, and represents one of the most rapidly growing IT fields for the current and a long period of time.However, data show that the global mobile internet is still in its infancy, there exist many problems to be solved and clarified.This paper first outlines the basic concept of the mobile internet, including its definition, features, and architecture.Then, based on the current architecture, we discussed in detail the research status, problems, and solutions of its various components, including mobile terminals, access network, applications and services, as well as security and privacy.Finally, future research and development trends of cloud computing were discussed.

Abstract:Mobile IP(MIP) based on IP layer offers a global mobility solution to support wireless Internet traffic.In this paper,to eliminate the triangle routing problem and minimize handoff latency,the route optimization extensions for Mobile IP(ROMIP) is complemented and the backward smooth handoff mechanism is utilized in Network Simulator(NS-2,Version: 2).Binding cache management messages(Binding Warning,BW;Binding Update,BU;Binding Request,BR;Binding Acknowledgement,BA,etc.) are introduced into the original NS-2 framework.Moreover,backward smooth handoff mechanism is used to minimize the handoff latency.The simulation results show that,compared with the standard Mobile IP protocol in ROMIP,the achieved bandwidth increases evidently while the end-to-end packet delay remains low.Owing to the implementation of smooth handoff,handoff latency is cut down more than 50%.Moreover,this method keeps transparent for hardware and convenient for software.The research provides a valuable and practical implementation method for real-time communication in Mobile IP network.

Abstract:With the development of the mobile communication technology and P2P, a combination of mobile computing and P2P, MP2P, has revealed its attractions. Compared to traditional P2P, characteristics of MP2P include unreliable connection, limited bandwidth and constrains of mobile devices. Although there have existed some classic lookup protocols for traditional P2P systems, they all fall into impropriety and inefficiency under MP2P because of their scalability limits, unreliability and requirements of bandwidth. In this paper, a new protocol, M-CAN, is proposed for implementing an efficient lookup in MP2P. By grouping and registering resources appropriately, M-CAN accelerates the lookup process in MP2P environment. Tests show that M-CAN can greatly enhance the system performance and effectivity.

Abstract:With the integration of telecommunications network and Internet, mobile Internet is bound to rise. Mobile Internet brings not only high-quality business experience; but also enormous challenges to telecommunications. The current status and hierarchical structure of the mobile Internet are presented. Technological advances and market demand are promoting development of mobile Internet, and terminals, networks and businesses are three elements of the development of the mobile Internet. Mobile IP technique and related protocols are described systematically, which are designed to allow mobile terminal and the mobile sub-network to roam within the Internet. Then the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and its architectural framework are expounded, which are designed by (3GPP). The credible and reliable IP network architecture with Quality of Service (QoS) based oil IMS is discussed to meet the needs of the next generation of mobile Internet. Finally, the hotspots such as P2P/Multicast/Security are pointed out within the mobile Internet.

Abstract:With the rapid progress of multicast applications and more users participating in it, IP multicast has been an important subject in both research and development. In the meantime, due to the rapid promulgation of mobile devices and progress in wireless technology these years, it is imperative to determine the best way to provide services to mobile equipment. Because IP multicast naturally has the merit of high scalability and efficiency, which is more significant for mobile environment whose resource is much limited, more and more people pay attention to these two techniques, and many efforts are being made to bring them together. In this paper, a comprehensive survey on mobile multicast arithmetics and schemes is given, the advantages and application range of these arithmetics or schemes are discussed respectively, also the shortcomings and problems existed are anatomized in depth, and then a comprehensive comparison is given. In view of poor reliability in mobile environment, a detailed investigation of new problems when implementing reliable multicast to mobile hosts is given, and some related works are introduced. It was hoped that the illustration and discussion presented here would be helpful for developers in selecting an appropriate mobile multicast arithmetic or protocol for their specific needs. In the end, the future trend of combining multicast and mobile is discussed.

Abstract:Enabling both cellular phone service and ad hoc communication with a single terminal will make personal communication more convenient. This can be achieved by using a compatible air interface in the two modes. In this paper, we propose a new approach of ad hoc networking based on a modified air interface of TD-SCDMA, which is the 3G mobile communication standard proposed by China. The same frame structure as TD-SCDMA is used while appropriate modifications are made to the air interface. We present a scheme of radio resource management optimized for ad hoc networks, which can resolve multihop collisions, is adaptable to topology changes and is efficient for connection creation and release. Analytical results show that good performance can be achieved.

Abstract:An MAC protocol named PMCAP/CDMA is introduced and utilized in voice/data integration network for uplink channel of CDMA mobile communication systems. Mathematical model is built and performance analysis is conducted. Three code sets for voice contention, data contention and voice/data reservation are adopted so that there are no contentions between voice and data users. Two adaptive code-set-assign methods are proposed. Simulation shows, compared with fixed assigned method, adaptive method can greatly improve the system performance. And the second adaptive code-set-as sign method is a good trade off between voice drop rate and data delay.

Abstract:Existing mobile devices have the capability to use multiple network technologies simultaneously to help increase performance; but they rarely, if at all, effectively use these technologies in parallel. We first present empirical data to help understand the mobile environment when three heterogeneous networks are available to the mobile device (i.e., a WiFi network, WiMax network, and an Iridium satellite network). We then propose a reliable, multi-path protocol called Multi-Path TCP with Network Coding (MPTCP/NC) that utilizes each of these networks in parallel. An analytical model is developed and a mean-field approximation is derived that gives an estimate of the protocol's achievable throughput. Finally, a comparison between MPTCP and MPTCP/NC is presented using both the empirical data and mean-field approximation. Our results show that network coding can provide users in mobile environments a higher quality of service by enabling the use of multiple network technologies and the capability to overcome packet losses due to lossy, wireless network connections.

Abstract:With the rapid development of the mobile communication technology, multimedia transmission over mobile network has become a hotspot in the monitoring area. We propose an application of the embedded Linux system and CDMA1X wireless data transmission technology in the video surveillance system. It is also a general model of wireless video capture and transmission based on embedded Linux and CDMA1X network. By using CDMA date communications technology, H.264 digital video compressed encoded and decoded algorithm and RC4 encryption mechanisms, the system can achieve efficient collection, encoding, encryption and transmission processing of the real-time video signal. It can be widely used in public security, fire protection, transportation, finance, news gathering, and other fields.

Abstract:With the introduction of a newer generation of wireless devices and technologies, the need for an efficient architecture for IP mobility is becoming more apparent. Several architectures have been proposed to support IP mobility. Most studies, however, show that current architectures, in general, fall short from satisfying the performance requirements for wireless applications, mainly audio. Other studies have shown performance improvement by using multicast to reduce latency and packet loss during handoff. In this study, we propose a multicast-based architecture to support IP mobility. We evaluate our approach through simulation, and we compare it to mainstream approaches for IP mobility, mainly, the Mobile IP protocol. Comparison is performed according to the required performance criteria, such as smooth handoff and efficient routing. Our simulation results show significant improvement for the proposed architecture. On average, basic Mobile IP consumes almost twice as much network bandwidth, and experiences more than twice as much end-to-end and handoff delays, as does our proposed architecture. Furthermore, we propose an extension to Mobile IP to support our architecture with minimal modification.

Abstract:The operating features of wire and wireless communication modes used in tele-control system are the technologies of Access Point Name service,Virtual Private Network and IPSec security authentication to protect the system security in all aspects,applies the technologies of dual-network and protocol checksum retransfer to ensure the reliability of network data conununication,and adopts the smart sub-packet transfer mode to improve the real-time performance of system. The site test shows its extremely low error rate and communication lag,satisfying the requirements of tele-control communication,and validates the feasibility of wireless communication mode in tele-control system.
Congestion and Access Control Policies of Multi-Priority Instant Services for IP-Based CDMA Radio Access Networks

Abstract:IP radio access networks (RAN) are expected to employ CDMA as the next generation access networks (Bu et al., 2004). In the previous work, the problem about congestion of voice in IP-based CDMA RAN was examined and several policies were brought forward and evaluated with the assistance of simulations (Kasera et al., 2005). In this paper, we first develop a mathematical model to investigate the multi-region soft-handoff of the IP-based CDMA RAN and analyze its systematic characteristics. The effectiveness of the developed mathematical model is demonstrated by simulations. We then propose a max-leg-limit control policy to improve the system performance in terms of the blocking rate and the number of users. We also extend it to a more general situation, where instant video, instant data and voice are provided within an IP-based CDMA RAN. For such a multiple priority instant service system, we propose two control mechanisms, borrow-leg and router buffer preservation, to control the quality of services. Simulation shows that the control mechanisms are effective in keeping the quality of multi-priority services.

Abstract:A model to build a cooperative vehicle and infrastructure system that is suitable for today's national conditions in China is proposed in this study. The concept is based on the IEEE 802.11n infrastructure and ad hoc network technology with the assistance of China Telecom Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 2000 3G cellular network technology. The advantages of these technologies include orthogonal frequency division multiplexing and multiple input-multiple output applications. The availability of the new cooperative vehicle and infrastructure system structure has been verified by three scenario experiments: CDMA 2000 network scenario, IEEE 802.11n infrastructure network scenario, and an ad hoc network scenario. Many factors, such as mobile speed, distance between wireless devices, and access mode, which may influence the quality of communication, are discussed. Several applications of this system are introduced. Future work is described.
