Abstract:We discuss a class of quasi-linear pseudo-parabolic equation with nonlocal source ut−Δut−∇⋅|∇u|2q∇u=up(x,t)∫Ωk(x,y)up+1(y,t)dyx,y∈Ω,t∈(0,T0],where q≤p and 0<q<n−22. By establishing the criterions for blow-up, we determine the upper bounds for blow-up time under not only q<p and non-positive initial energy but also q=p and negative initial energy. The results show that the upper bound for blow-up time under q<p is different from it under q=p. Moreover, we also determine the lower bound for blow-up time.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the global existence and blow-up results of semilinear parabolic equations with critical Sobolev exponent \begin{eqnarray*} u_t-\Delta u=|u|^{p-1}u, in \Omega\times (0,T) \end{eqnarray*} with the Dirichlet boundary condition $u=0$ on the boundary $\partial\Omega\times [0,T)$ and $u=\phi$ at $t=0$, where $\Omega\subset R^n$, $n\geq 3$, is a compact $C^1$ domain, $p=p_S=\frac{n+2}{n-2}$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, and $0 ≨ \phi \in C^1_0(\Omega)$ is a given smooth function. We show that there are two sets $\tilde{W}$ and $\tilde{Z}$ such that for $\phi\in\tilde{W}$, there is a global positive solution $u(t)\in \tilde{W}$ with $H^1$ omega limit $\{0\}$ and for $\phi\in \tilde{Z}$, the solution blows up at finite time.

It is shown that if $ u_0 $ decays like $ |x| ^{- \alpha }$ as $ |x| \rightarrow \infty $ in $ \Omega$ with $ 0 < \alpha < 2(1-\mu)/(p-1) $, then the solution blows up in finite time regardless of the behavior of $u_0$ outside $\Omega$. Moreover the life span of such a solution with $u_0 = \lambda \varphi$ is estimated from above for small $\lambda > 0$ in terms of p, $ \alpha $, and $ \mu $. The optimality of these results is also studied.

Abstract:We mainly consider the following degenerate (p>2) parabolic equationut−Δpu=λum+μ|∇u|q with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition in a bounded domain Ω⊂RN. Before studying the properties of the solutions of this equation, we first establish the local-in-time existence of its weak solutions. Then, in different ranges of reaction exponents, we give the complete classification of blowup results including L∞ blowup and gradient blowup. Moreover, under the subcritical condition of q≤p−1, m≤p−1, we can also prove that the solution is global in time.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the blow-up of solutions to the following nonlocal p -Laplace equation: u_t-div(|∇u|^p-2∇u)=|u|^q-1u-1/|Ω|∫_Ω|u|^q-1udx, x∈Ω, 0 < t < T, under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in a bounded smooth domain Ω⊂R^N . For all p > 2, q > p-1 , a blow-up result for the solutions to the above equation with positive initial energy is established. This result improves a recent result by Qu and Liang (Abstr Appl Anal 3:551–552, 2013 ) which asserts the blow-up of solutions for p-1 < q≤Np/(N-p)_+-1 .

We first obtain an upper bound and a lower one for the blowup time of $$L^{\infty }$$ blowup solutions and then get the upper bound for the blowup time of gradient blowup solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we proposed a new method to prove the blowup at for the solution of the initial boundary value problem for a class of semilinear parabolic equations with logarithmic nonlinearity at sub-critical initial energy level by contradiction. Moreover, following the idea of contradiction, we obtained a sufficient criterion for the blowup at of the solution with arbitrarily positive initial energy by defining a new auxiliary function, in which the location of the initial data concerning the unstable set is not required.

Abstract:We study the phenomenon of finite time blow-up in solutions of the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for the parabolic equation ut=div(a(x,t)|∇u|p(x)−2∇u)+b(x,t)|u|σ(x,t)−2u with variable exponents of nonlinearity p(x),σ(x,t)∈(1,∞). Two different cases are studied. In the case of semilinear equation with p(x)≡2, a(x,t)≡1, b(x,t)≥b−>0 we show that the finite time blow-up happens if the initial function is sufficiently large and either minΩσ(x,t)=σ−(t)>2 for all t>0, or σ−(t)≥2, σ−(t)↘2 as t→∞ and ∫1∞es(2−σ−(s))ds<∞. In the case of the evolution p(x)-Laplace equation with the exponents p(x), σ(x) independent of t, we prove that every solution corresponding to a sufficiently large initial function exhibits a finite time blow-up if b(x,t)≥b−>0, at(x,t)≤0, bt(x,t)≥0, minσ(x)>2 and maxp(x)≤minσ(x).

Abstract:We study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions to the problem \[\left\{ \begin{array}{rlll} u_t-\Delta u&=a u-b(x)u^p &\mbox{in} &(0,\infty)\times \Omega,\\ \alpha u_\nu+\beta u&=0 & \mbox{on}& (0,\infty)\times \partial \Omega,\\ u(0,.)&=u_0&\mbox{in}& \Omega, \end{array}\right. \] where $p>1$, $b(x)\geq 0$ is continuous and vanishes on the closure of a nontrivial subdomain $\Omega_0$ of $\Omega\subset R^N$. This case can be regarded as a mixture of the well-understood logistic (when b(x) > 0 always) and Malthusian (when $b(x)\equiv 0$) models and has attracted much study in recent years. It follows from recent studies that the model behaves like the logistic model if the growth rate a of the species is less than some constant a0 > 0 and it behaves differently from the logistic model once $a\geq a_0$. In this paper, we show that, when $a\geq a_0$, the model behaves like the Malthusian model on part of the domain (i.e., on $\Omega_0$ where b vanishes) and it behaves like the logistic model on the remaining part of the domain. Our study shows that the boundary blow-up problem \[ -\Delta u=au-b(x)u^p \mbox{ in} \ \Omega\setminus\overline{\Omega}_0,\ \alpha u_\nu +\beta u=0 \mbox{ on}\\partial \Omega,\ \ u=\infty \mbox{ on}\ \partial \Omega_0 \] plays a key role in understanding the dynamics of our model and that the whole theory can be described by a nice bifurcation picture involving a branch of positive solutions at "infinity."

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly consider the stability of blowup of solutions for the p-Laplace equation with nonlinear source u_t = div(|∇ u|^p-2∇ u) + u^q, (x,t)∈ℝ^N × (0,T) , with the initial value u(x,0) = u_0(x) ≥ 0 , where u_0 (x)_L^∞≤ M and T < ∞ is the blowup time. Under a small oscillation around the radial initial value, we can prove the solution blows up in finite time and obtain the blowup rate estimate of the form u(·,t)_L^∞≤ C(T-t)^-1/q-1 , where the constant C > 0 is dependent only on N , p , q , and the parameters q and p are expected to be p > 2, p-1 < q < Np/(N-p)_+ -1 .
