Abstract:Due to the large population and relatively closed space environment , the subway system is vulnerable to bioterrorist attacks.This paper analyzes the technological response measures against subway bioterrorism in the United States, including Detect to Protect program of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and PROTECTS program of Depart-ment of Energy ( DOE) .We also put forward some proposals on how to improve China′s capability of prevention of and response to subway bioterrorism .

Abstract:This analysis seeks to attain two primary objectives. The first is to illustrate how U.S.-based information policy has been shaped and affected following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The second is to produce a valid, qualitative evaluation regarding policy effectiveness, the impacts on public life, and best practices in government. Literature reviews from many disciplines and sources demonstrate that there has been a significant change in the U.S. information policy post-9/11. The findings of this study reveal what organizations and federal agencies dealing with information policy in emergency management and response have accomplished and what they have not accomplished. The discussion section offers future directions as to how to increase the effectiveness of emergency preparedness and management.

Abstract:With the rapid development of information technology, internet is playing an increasingly important role across the world. A trustworthy cyberspace has been closely related to national interests and has become a focus of national security and social stability. However, the past security research often focused on the solutions to speciifc threats, which sometimes was termed engineering. But we don’t have a clear understanding of many fundamental problems and universal laws of cybersecurity, that is, cybersecurity research lacks a ifrm scientiifc foundation and theoretical support. In contrast to the past engineering approach, in the recent two years, we have seen a growing push within the research community of information security to promote the study of cybersecurity as a science. This paper introduces the background of developing a science of cybersecurity, depicts the scientiifc connotation of cybersecurity and discusses ifve hard problems in the science of cybersecurity. Finally, the perspective of cybersecurity research is also proposed in this paper.

Abstract:At present, most of the economic, commercial, cultural, social and governmental activities and interactions of countries, at all levels, including individuals, non-governmental organizations and government and governmental institutions, are carried out in cyberspace. Recently, many private companies and government organizations around the world are facing the problem of cyber-attacks and the danger of wireless communication technologies. Today’s world is highly dependent on electronic technology, and protecting this data from cyber-attacks is a challenging issue. The purpose of cyber-attacks is to harm companies financially. In some other cases, cyber-attacks can have military or political purposes. Some of these damages are: PC viruses, knowledge breaks, data distribution service (DDS) and other assault vectors. To this end, various organizations use various solutions to prevent damage caused by cyber-attacks. Cyber security follows real-time information on the latest IT data. So far, various methods had been proposed by researchers around the world to prevent cyber-attacks or reduce the damage caused by them. Some of the methods are in the operational phase and others are in the study phase. The aim of this study is to survey and comprehensively review the standard advances presented in the field of cyber security and to investigate the challenges, weaknesses and strengths of the proposed methods. Different types of new descendant attacks are considered in details. Standard security frameworks are discussed with the history and early-generation cyber-security methods. In addition, emerging trends and recent developments of cyber security and security threats and challenges are presented. It is expected that the comprehensive review study presented for IT and cyber security researchers will be useful.

Recent Progress on X-ray Security Inspection Technologies

Abstract:Emerging terrorist attacks seriously impacted the global security situation which brings unprecedented challenges to public transportation.Effectual anti-terrorist ways to protect personal safety and assets security become an important global demand.Consequently,to improve security inspection capabilities with state-of-art technology has long been a serious issue and hot research topic.Recent years,with the rapid development of X-ray detection technology,utilizing X-rays to inspect hidden explosives and contrabands in cargo,luggage,vehicle and on human body become both effective and efficient.Based on different X-ray interaction behaviors with matter,a variety of inspection techniques have been researched and developed which show great potentials for security applications.This paper provides a general review on different X-ray inspection techniques such as X-ray transmission imaging,backscatter imaging,phase-contrast imaging,spectral imaging,CT reconstruction,X-ray diffraction and so on.Basic physical mechanisms,research progresses and application features are investigated.And outlooks to new technologies and applications are given.X-ray transmission imaging detects the attenuation of X-ray flux while penetrating objects.The transmission image has a strong discrimination for high-density materials with strong X-ray absorption,such as guns,knives,grenades,detonators and other high atomic number items.Dual-energy X-ray imaging is an important complement that provides preliminary material classification capability.The technology has been widely used for sea freight cargo and passenger luggage inspection.X-ray back-scatter imaging detects X-rays that reflects from the scanned objects (e.g.,vehicle,container and human body).It is good for imaging low density (or low atomic number) materials.The source and detectors of the scanning device are usually designed on one side of the target object,and a rotating wheel with pencil beam collimators is the key to scan in a point-by-point method.Computed tomography (CT) inspection system generates volumetric image of scanned item.It provides high resolution 3D inner structures nondestmctively and without overlap.Due to the rapid development in CT reconstruction theory,various applications for security inspection have emerged.Hot research and development topics include material classification method,dual-energy and multi-energy CT imaging,non-spiral trajectory CT scan,artifacts correction and scan speed improvement.X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique has been widely used to identify minerals and other crystalline materials.It also shows good ability for detecting drug,explosives and hazardous liquids in security examination.Photo-counting detectors are utilized to measure scatter flux on different photon energy levels to form diffraction spectrum.Currently research on XRD for security application is focused on improving signal-to-noise ratio,reducing scanning time,material recognition method and system design.Phase-contrast imaging (PCI) calculates X-ray phase-shift when traversing the item.For low atomic number materials the cross section of the phase-shift can achieve up to 103 times larger than the one of attenuation.Thus it gains much better image contrast for fruits,clothes,drugs,liquids and other low atomic number items.Grating-based imaging has been regarded as the most promising PCI method because it is a first approach that requires only conventional X-ray source rather than synchrotron or micro-focus X-ray sources.Preliminary research work can be found on the security application potentials of grating-based PCI systems and methods.

Abstract:It reviews the major changes of international aviation security system after the terrorist attack event in Sept.11,2001 and points out the inefficiency of some relevant operations.It also discusses how to apply industrial engineering to address practical issues in airport security system.These methodologies are grouped into four categories: performance measures,design tools,analysis tools and control tools.Prospects for future research are also discussed at the end.

Abstract:Information technology has penetrated into all aspects of politics, economy, and culture of the whole society. The information revolution has changed the way of communication all over the world, promoted the giant development of human society, and also drawn unprecedented attention to network security issues. Studies, focusing on network security, have experienced four main stages: idealized design for ensuring security, auxiliary examination and passive defense, active analysis and strategy formulation, and overall perception and trend prediction. Under the background of the new strategic command for the digital control that all countries are scrambled for, the discussion of network security situational awareness presents new characteristics both in the academic study and industrialization. In this regard, a thorough investigation has been made in the present paper into the literature of network security situational awareness. Firstly, the research status both at home and abroad is introduced, and then, the logical analysis framework is put forward concerning the network security situational awareness from the perspective of the data value chain. The whole process is composed of five successive stages: factor acquisition, model representation, measurement establishment, solution analysis, and situation prediction. Subsequently, the role of each stage and the mainstream methods are elaborated, and the application results on the experimental objects and the horizontal comparison between the methods are explained. In an attempt to provide a panoramic recognition of network security situational awareness, and auxiliary ideas for the industrialization of network security, this paper aims to provide some references for the scientific research and engineering personnel in this field.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the computer network security features and the main threat, synthesis the firewall technology of current domestic and international, on the basis of various firewalls' principles, advantages and shortcomings. Through the synthesis and compare of various techniques, in-depth study of the main factors affection firewall performance, combined with the network status quo of Heilongjiang Provincial Center, this paper researches the firewall technology of the actual application in the computer network security, then refers the new technique called tight coupling firewall, finally the article leads to a lack of firewall technology and the direction of its development.

Abstract:The development of network society brings great convenience for the country and society, and creates the necessary conditions for symbiosis of network and terrorism, especially when highly developed information technology has become a powerful weapon of terror-ists in terrorist activities. This paper initially talks about the connotation of cyberterrorism and divides its patterns into two categories:ter-rorism psychological war and propaganda war taking network as media, terrorism attack taking network as target. Cases of network terrorist attacks in recent years are then used to analyze the new trends of cyberterrorism, which includes increasingly convenient channel, multiple methods, expanding scope, difficult and limited monitoring and soaring numbers of alone wolf cases. At last, it proposes strategies of cy-berterrorism prevention from five aspects.

This paper reviews the main techniques of using x-ray to inspect exploder and other contraband. It describes the methods of material recognition in single energy system, dual energy system, dual view system, scatter system, CT and stereo matching technique. Then we make a discussion and comparison among these methods. Lastly it gives foreground of the x-ray security inspection technology.

Abstract:With the increasing importance of cyberspace security, the research and application of network situational awareness is getting more attention. The research on network security situational awareness is of great significance for improving the network monitoring ability, emergency response capability and predicting the development trend of network security. This paper describes the development and evolution of network situational awareness and analyzes the basic architecture of the current situational awareness system. Based on the situational awareness conceptual model, four main research contents of situational awareness are elaborated: network data collection, situational understanding, situational prediction and situational visualization. This paper focuses on the core issues, main algorithms, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method that need to be addressed at each research point. Finally, under the current development trend of big data processing technology and artificial intelligence technology, the application realization and development trend of network situational awareness are analyzed and forecasted.

Abstract:Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs) integrate control,communication and computation technologies to facilitate close interactions between human being and physical world.CPS is widely recognized as one of the revolutional technologies for smart cities,smart grid,intelligent manufacturing and so on.In all of these applications,due to potential vulnerability to cyber attacks,CPS security is one of the key design concerns and has drawn increasing research attention recently.In this paper,we provide a review of recent studies on CPS security.We first introduce several types of security threats that are able to cause severe damage to any target CPS if not well protected.We then present a survey of recent literature on attack analysis,detection and defeating strategies,and discuss a list of research challenges in this area.

Abstract:The frequent occurrence of terrorist incidents has seriously affected the security and order of the international community,bringing unprecedented challenges to the safety of passenger and freight transportation.Effectively combating terrorist activities and ensuring personal and property safety are important demands in the field of public security both domestically and globally.Therefore,how to enhance security inspection capabilities through high-tech means has become an important issue and research hotspot of concern.X-ray diffraction(XRD)technology can identify prohibited substances at the molecular level,with high discrimination,and has broad application prospects in the field of safety inspection.Starting from the basic theory of diffraction,this article briefly describes the current research progress in the structure and recognition algorithms of XRD systems,as well as the advantages of XRD technology.An XRD system was built to verify its effectiveness.Finally,the development direction of XRD was prospected,with the aim of further promoting this technology to play a more important role in the field of public safety.
