Abstract:This study attempts to empirically examine the dynamic causal relationships among carbon emissions, energy consumption,GDP,foreign trade, fixed capital investment and population in China. This paper indicates there exists a long-term cointegrated relationships among five variables. In the long-run,there are bidirectional causal relationships among five variables, while in the short run there are four unidirectional Granger causalities. The results suggest that CO2 emissions, energy consumption,GDP and fixed capital investment are significant variables in explaining the causal relationships. Moreover,we find that energy consumption can accelerate CO2 emissions in China and it is crucial to affect CO2 emissions by foreign trade. However, there exists a stable equation of CO2 emissions among all of variables in our study. Finally, corresponding policies are recommended,China should definitely put forward the strategy of low carbon economy and transfer to low-carbon development.
