Abstract:Given a closed, oriented Lagrangian submanifold $L$ in a Liouville domain $\overline{M}$, one can define a Maurer-Cartan element with respect to a certain $L_\infty$-structure on the string homology $\widehat{H}_\ast^{S^1}(\mathcal{L}L;\mathbb{R})$, completed with respect to the action filtration. When the first Gutt-Hutchings capacity of $\overline{M}$ is finite, and $L$ is a $K(\pi,1)$ space, it leads to interesting geometric implications. In particular, we show that $L$ bounds a non-constant pseudoholomorphic disc of Maslov index 2. This confirms a general form of Audin's conjecture and generalizes the works of Fukaya and Irie in the case of $\mathbb{C}^n$ to a wide class of Liouville manifolds. In particular, when $\dim_\mathbb{R}(\overline{M})=6$, every closed, orientable, prime Lagrangian 3-manifold $L\subset\overline{M}$ is diffeomorphic to a spherical space form, or $S^1\times\Sigma_g$, where $\Sigma_g$ is a closed oriented surface.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Tonelli Lagrangian L is an element of C-r (TT2, R) with r >= 5. For a generic perturbation of Lagrangian L -> L + P where P is an element of C-r(T-2, R), we get simultaneous hyperbolicity of a family of minimal periodic orbits which share the same first homology class. Consequently, these periodic orbits make up one or more pieces of normally hyperbolic invariant cylinder in TT2.

Abstract:In this paper we define an invariant of a pair of a 6 dimensional symplectic manifold with vanishing 1st Chern class and its relatively spin Lagrangian submanifold with vanishing Maslov index. This invariant is a function on the set of the path connected components of bounding cochains (solutions of the A infinity version of the Maurer-Cartan equation of the filtered A infinity algebra associated to the Lagrangian submanifold). In the case when the Lagrangian submanifold is a rational homology sphere, it becomes a numerical invariant. This invariant depends on the choice of almost complex structures. The way how it depends on the almost complex structures is described by a wall crossing formula which involves a moduli space of pseudo-holomorphic spheres.

Abstract:The Riemannian product of two hyperbolic planes of constant Gaussian curvature -1 has a natural Kähler structure. In fact, it can be identified with the complex hyperbolic quadric of complex dimension two. In this paper we study Lagrangian surfaces in this manifold. We present several examples and classify the totally umbilical and totally geodesic Lagrangian surfaces, the Lagrangian surfaces with parallel second fundamental form, the minimal Lagrangian surfaces with constant Gaussian curvature and the complete minimal Lagrangian surfaces satisfying a bounding condition on an important function that can be defined on any Lagrangian surface in this particular ambient space.

Abstract:Our main result is the $\mathcal{C}^0$-rigidity of the area spectrum and the Maslov class of Lagrangian submanifolds. This relies on the existence of punctured pseudoholomorphic discs in cotangent bundles with boundary on the zero section, whose boundaries represent any integral homology class. We discuss further applications of these punctured discs in symplectic geometry.

Abstract:We prove that for any compact orientable connected 3-manifold with torus boundary, a concatenation of it and the direct product of the circle and the Klein bottle with an open 2-disk removed admits a Lagrangian embedding into the standard symplectic 6-space. Moreover, minimal Maslov number of the Lagrangian embedding is equal to 1.

Abstract:Suppose you have a nonorientable Lagrangian surface L in a symplectic 4-manifold. How far can you deform the symplectic form before the smooth isotopy class of L contains no Lagrangians? I solve this question for a particular Lagrangian Klein bottle. I also discuss some related conjectures.

Abstract:We study collections of exact Lagrangian submanifolds respecting some uniform Riemannian bounds, which we equip with a metric naturally arising in symplectic topology (e.g. the Lagrangian Hofer metric or the spectral metric). We exhibit many metric and symplectic properties of these spaces, such that they have compact completions and that they contain only finitely many Hamiltonian isotopy classes. We then use this to exclude many unusual phenomena from happening in these bounded spaces. Taking limits in the bounds, we also conclude that there are at most countably many Hamiltonian isotopy classes of exact Lagrangian submanifolds in a Liouville manifold. Under some mild topological assumptions, we get analogous results for monotone Lagrangian submanifolds with a fixed monotonicity constant. Finally, in the process of showing these results, we get new results on the Riemannian geometry of cotangent bundles and surfaces which might be of independent interest.

Abstract:Laguerre geometry of surfaces in R is given in the book of Blaschke [1], and have been studied by E.Musso and L.Nicolodi [5], [6], [7], B. Palmer [8] and other authors. In this paper we study Laguerre differential geometry of hypersurfaces in Rn. For any umbilical free hypersurface x : M → Rn with non-zero principal curvatures we define a Laguerre invariant metric g on M and a Laguerre invariant self-adjoint operator S : TM → TM , and show that {g, S} is a complete Laguerre invariant system for hypersurfaces in Rn with n ≥ 4. We calculate the EulerLagrange equation for the Laguerre volume functional of Laguerre metric by using Laguerre invariants. Using the Euclidean space Rn, the Lorentzian space Rn 1 and the degenerate space Rn 0 we define three Laguerre space forms URn, URn 1 and URn 0 and define the Laguerre embedding URn 1 → URn and URn 0 → URn, analogue to the Moebius geometry where we have Moebius space forms Sn, Hn and Rn (spaces of constant curvature) and conformal embedding Hn → Sn and Rn → Sn (cf. [4], [10]). Using these Laguerre embedding we can unify the Laguerre geometry of hypersurfaces in Rn, Rn 1 and Rn 0 . Relative quantum cohomology of the Chiang Lagrangian

Abstract:We compute the open Gromov-Witten disk invariants and the relative quantum cohomology of the Chiang Lagrangian $L_\triangle \subset \mathbb{C}P^3$. Since $L_\triangle$ is not fixed by any anti-symplectic involution, the invariants may augment straightforward $J$-holomorphic disk counts with correction terms arising from the formalism of Fukaya $A_\infty$-algebras and bounding cochains. These correction terms are shown in fact to be non-trivial for many invariants. Moreover, examples of non-vanishing mixed disk and sphere invariants are obtained. We characterize a class of open Gromov-Witten invariants, called basic, which coincide with straightforward counts of $J$-holomorphic disks. Basic invariants for the Chiang Lagrangian are computed using the theory of axial disks developed by Evans-Lekili and Smith in the context of Floer cohomology. The open WDVV equations give recursive relations which determine all invariants from the basic ones. The denominators of all invariants are observed to be powers of $2$ indicating a non-trivial arithmetic structure of the open WDVV equations. The magnitude of invariants is not monotonically increasing with degree. Periodic behavior is observed with periods $8$ and $16.$

Abstract:We study notions of asymptotic regularity for a class of minimal submanifolds of complex hyperbolic space that includes minimal Lagrangian submanifolds. As an application, we show a relationship between an appropriate formulation of Colding-Minicozzi entropy and a quantity we call the CR-volume that is computed from the asymptotic geometry of such submanifolds.

Abstract:We introduce a structural approach to study Lagrangian submanifolds of the complex hyperquadric in arbitrary dimension by using its family of non-integrable almost product structures.In particular,we define local angle functions encoding the geometry of the Lagrangian submanifold at hand.We prove that these functions are constant in the special case that the Lagrangian immersion is the Gauss map of an isoparametric hypersurface of a sphere and give the relation with the constant principal curvatures of the hypersurface.We also use our techniques to classify all minimal Lagrangian submanifolds of the complex hyperquadric which have constant sectional curvatures and all minimal Lagrangian submanifolds for which all local angle functions,respectively all but one,coincide.

Abstract:We study invariants defined by count of charged, elliptic $J$-holomorphic curves in locally conformally symplectic manifolds. We use this to define $\mathbb{Q} $-valued deformation invariants of certain complete Riemann-Finlser manifolds and their isometries and this is used to find some new phenomena in Riemann-Finlser geometry. In contact geometry this Gromov-Witten theory is used to study fixed Reeb strings of strict contactomorphisms. Along the way, we state an analogue of the Weinstein conjecture in lcs geometry, directly extending the Weinstein conjecture, and discuss various partial verifications. A counterexample for a stronger, also natural form of this conjecture is given.

Abstract:We extend the techniques introduced in for contractible Riemann surfaces to construct minimal Lagrangian immersions from arbitrary Riemann surfaces into ℂP^2 via the loop group method. Based on the potentials of translationally equivariant minimal Lagrangian surfaces, we introduce perturbed equivariant minimal Lagrangian surfaces in ℂP^2 and construct a class of minimal Lagrangian cylinders. Furthermore, we show that these minimal Lagrangian cylinders approximate Delaunay cylinders with respect to some weighted Wiener norm of the twisted loop group Λ SU(3)_σ.

Abstract:It was proved in [8,9] that every Lagrangian submanifold $M$ of a complex space form $\tilde M^{5}(4c)$ of constant holomorphic sectional curvature $4c$ satisfies the following optimal inequality: {align}\tag{A}\delta(2,2)\leq \text{\small${25}{4}$} H^{2}+8c,{align} where $H^{2}$ is the squared mean curvature and $\delta(2,2)$ is a $\delta$-invariant on $M$ introduced by the first author. This optimal inequality improves a special case of an earlier inequality obtained in [B.-Y. Chen, Japan. J. Math. 26 (2000), 105-127]. The main purpose of this paper is to classify Lagrangian submanifolds of $\tilde M^{5}(4c)$ satisfying the equality case of the improved inequality (A).

Abstract:The purpose of this article is study rigidity of free boundary minimal two-disks that locally maximize the modified Hawking mass on a Riemannian three-manifold with positive lower bound on its scalar curvature and mean convex boundary. Assuming the strict stability of {\Sigma}, we prove that a neighborhood of it in M is isometric to one of the half de Sitter-Schwarzschild space.

Abstract:The Yamabe Invariant of a smooth compact manifold is by definition the supremum of the scalar curvatures of unit-volume Yamabe metrics on the manifold. For an explicit infinite class of 4-manifolds, we show that this invariant is positive but strictly less than that of the 4-sphere. This is done by using spin^c Dirac operators to control the lowest eigenvalue of a perturbation of the Yamabe Laplacian. These results dovetail perfectly with those derived from the perturbed Seiberg-Witten equations, but the present method is much more elementary in spirit.

Abstract:By constructing a holomorphic cubic form for Lagrangian surfaces with nonzero constant length mean curvature vector in a 2-dimensional complex space form $\tilde M$(4c), we characterize the Lagrangian pesudosphere as the only branched Lagrangian immersion of a sphere in $\tilde M$(4c) with nonzero constant length mean curvature vector. When c = 0, our result reduces to Castro-Urbano’s result in [1].
