Analysis on national surveillance of schistosomiasis in Anhui province in 2006

Abstract:Objective To analyze the surveillance results of schistosomiasis in Anhui in 2006, and provide scientific basis for making out control strategies. Methods The surveillance works were carried out according to the national protocol for schistosomiasis surveillance, all the investigation data were summarized and analyzed. Results The infection rate of the residents in the 12 surveillance sites was 0.95%, the positive rate of cattle was 11.2%, the average density of living snails was 1.64 snails/0.11m2, and the average density of infested snails was 0.002 6 snails/0.11m2. Conclusion The infection rate of the residents declined obviously compared with that in 2005 in most of the sites. However, it was still very difficult to control the infection of domestic animals and the diffusion of snail.
