Abstract:Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a type of bone disease with bone loss and deterioration of skeletal function that occurs in women after menopause. Studies have found that early-life exercise can reduce the risk of fractures and decrease the occurrence of osteoporosis, making it a promising approach for preventing and reversing bone loss. In this study, to identify the optimal forms of exercise during early life to optimize bone health and provide suggestions for promoting bone health through exercise training during early life, we conducted different forms of exercise interventions including ladder climbing, treadmill running, combined training, and whole-body vibration (WBV) on adolescent mice for 8 weeks and observed the accumulation of bone mass and arrangement of bone microstructure in adult mice. After removing the ovaries bilaterally, the mice were resting for 22 weeks to simulate the bone loss condition observed in postmenopausal women. We examined the resistance of the bone microstructure to degradation in response to exercise during early life and characterized the specific effects of different forms of exercise on countering bone microstructure deterioration. Our findings demonstrate that early-life exercise exerts long-term beneficial effects on bone health. All four forms of early-life exercise can delay bone loss due to decreased estrogen and improve the bone microstructure to varying degrees, with resistance and vibration training demonstrating superior protective benefits.

Abstract:The mature,weakness,and senescence of the ovarian function in females with aging result in a change of estrogen level,and lead to a change of bone mass.Especially during the period of puberty,pregnancy,postmenopausal,and elderly,the level of estrogen alters a great deal.It is the time to pay more attention to the alteration of bone turnover and bone mass,and to prevent the decrease of bone mineral density and the occurrence of osteoporosis.The study of bone mass alteration during different physiological period in the female may facilitate the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in females and improve the long term live quality.
Treadmill Exercise Can Significantly Improve Bone Metabolism in Osteoporosis

Abstract:Objective To study the effect of treadmill exercise on the bone metabolism of osteoporotic rats and the regulatory role of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in it. Methods Thirty-two female Sprague-Dawley rats aged 2 months were randomly divided into a sham-operated quiet group ( S group ) , an ovariectomized quiet group ( O group) , a sham-operated exercise group ( ST group) and an ovariectomized exercise group ( OT group) with 8 rats in each group. The ovariectomies established a model of post-menopausal osteoporosis. The ovaries of groups O and OT were removed, while those of the S and ST groups were exposed, but not removed. All of the rats were free to move in their cages, but those in the ST and OT groups also underwent treadmill training every day for 10 weeks. All of the rats were sacrificed 24 hours after the last exercise session. Bone mineral density ( BMD) of the femur was measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry, while serum calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase were detected with a biochemical analyzer. Serum osteocalcin was quantified by radioimmunoassay. A three point bending test quan-tified the biomechanical properties of the femors. The expression of Wnt/β-catenin was measured through western blotting. Results After the intervention the average BMD of group O was significantly lower than that of group S, that of group ST was significantly higher than group S and that of group OT significantly higher than group O ( P≤0.05) . The relative expression of Wnt/β-catenin protein P-GSK-3βin group ST was significantly lower than in group S ( P≤0.05) . The relative expressions ofβ-catenin and cyclin D1 in group ST were significantly higher than in group S ( P≤0.05) . The relative expression of protein P-GSK-3βin group OT was significantly lower than in group O, while that of β-catenin and cyclin D1 was significantly higher (P≤0.05). Conclusion Treadmill exercise can signifi-cantly improve bone metabolism in osteoporotic rats. The mechanism may be related to activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
Effects of short-term step aerobics exercise on bone metabolism and functional fitness in postmenopausal women with low bone mass

Abstract:Measurement of bone turnover markers is an alternative way to determine the effects of exercise on bone health. A 10-week group-based step aerobics exercise significantly improved functional fitness in postmenopausal women with low bone mass, and showed a positive trend in reducing resorption activity via bone turnover markers. Introduction: The major goal of this study was to determine the effects of short-term group-based step aerobics (GBSA) exercise on the bone metabolism, bone mineral density (BMD), and functional fitness of postmenopausal women (PMW) with low bone mass. Methods: Forty-eight PMW (aged 58.2 ± 3.5 years) with low bone mass (lumbar spine BMD T-score of -2.00 ± 0.67) were recruited and randomly assigned to an exercise group (EG) or to a control group (CG). Participants from the EG attended a progressive 10-week GBSA exercise at an intensity of 75-85 % of heart rate reserve, 90 min per session, and three sessions per week. Serum bone metabolic markers (C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen [CTX] and osteocalcin), BMD, and functional fitness components were measured before and after the training program. Mixed-models repeated measures method was used to compare differences between the groups (α = 0.05). Results: After the 10-week intervention period, there was no significant exercise program by time interaction for CTX; however, the percent change for CTX was significantly different between the groups (EG = -13.1 ± 24.4 % vs. CG = 11.0 ± 51.5 %, P < 0.05). While there was no significant change of osteocalcin in both groups. As expected, there was no significant change of BMD in both groups. In addition, the functional fitness components in the EG were significantly improved, as demonstrated by substantial enhancement in both lower- and upper-limb muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The current short-term GBSA exercise benefited to bone metabolism and general health by significantly reduced bone resorption activity and improved functional fitness in PMW with low bone mass. This suggested GBSA could be adopted as a form of group-based exercise for senior community.

Abstract:Osteoporosis is a major health problem in post-menopausal women (PMW). Exercise training is considered a cost-effective strategy to prevent osteoporosis in middle aged-older people. The purpose of this study is to summarize the effect of exercise on BMD among PMW. A comprehensive search of electronic databases was conducted through PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane, Science Direct, Eric, ProQuest, and Primo. BMD changes (standardized mean differences: SMD) of the lumbar spine (LS) femoral neck (FN) and/or total hip were considered as outcome measures. After subgroup categorization, statistical methods were used to combine data and compare subgroups. Seventy-five studies were included. The pooled number of participants was 5,300 (intervention group: n = 2,901, control group: n = 2,399). The pooled estimate of random effect analysis was SMD = 0.37, 95%-CI: 0.25–0.50, SMD = 0.33, 95%-CI: 0.23–0.43, and SMD = 0.40, 95%-CI: 0.28–0.51 for LS, FN, and total Hip-BMD, respectively. In the present meta-analysis, there was a significant (p < 0.001), but rather low effect (SMD = 0.33–0.40) of exercise on BMD at LS and proximal femur. A large variation among the single study findings was observed, with highly effective studies but also studies that trigger significant negative results. These findings can be largely attributed to differences among the exercise protocols of the studies. Findings suggest that the true effect of exercise on BMD is diluted by a considerable amount of studies with inadequate exercise protocols.

Abstract:The decline in bone mineral density (BMD) poses a significant concern for postmenopausal women with obesity. Research indicates that aerobic exercises show potential for enhancing bone health. However, there remains no consensus regarding their effects on BMD. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of various exercise interventions on BMD and overall health among postmenopausal women with obesity, with particular attention to caloric restriction (CR). Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines, we performed a comprehensive literature search on PubMed, targeting studies published up to August 2023. Our search focused on aerobic exercise, resistance training, and combined exercise modalities, examining their impact on BMD, body composition, and physical fitness in postmenopausal women with obesity. We reviewed 11 studies, predominantly on aerobic exercise, involving women who are overweight and sedentary, nine of which were randomized trials. Our findings suggest that aerobic exercise has a mild protective effect on BMD and can significantly reduce fat mass. Notably, when combined with CR, aerobic exercise not only enhances the reduction of fat tissue mass but also potentially offers a certain level of protection for BMD. Additionally, the intervention combining aerobic exercise with resistance training emerges as a key promoter of bone health, underscoring the importance of tailored exercise programs for this population. Consequently, balanced dietary patterns (like the Mediterranean diet), combined with exercise, are recommended for optimal health outcomes. Tailored exercise programs integrating both aerobic and resistance training are crucial for sustaining overall health and bone density in this population.
Efficacy of a 24-week aerobic exercise program for osteopenic postmenopausal women

Abstract:Osteoporosis is one of the most common skeletal disorders affecting postmenopausal women. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a 24-week program of aerobic high-impact loading exercise was beneficial for enhancing physical fitness and bone mineral density (BMD) in osteopenic postmenopausal women. Forty-three postmenopausal women aged 48-65 years participated in this study. The BMD of the spine (L2-L4) and right femoral neck of each woman was below 1 SD of the mean of premenopausal women, as examined by dual X-ray absorptiometry. The assignment of subjects into exercise or control group was not randomized but based on each subject's anticipated compliance to the 6-month long exercise program. Twenty-two subjects joined the exercise group and attended the training programs and 21 served as the control group. Exercise programs included treadmill walking at an intensity above 70% of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) for 30 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of stepping exercise using a 20-cm-high bench. The program was conducted three times per week for 24 weeks. Physical fitness measurements included testing of flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, body composition, and cardiopulmonary fitness. The results showed that the quadriceps strength, muscular endurance, and VO2max in the exercise group had significant improvements, whereas no improvement was found in any of the physical fitness parameters in the control group. The BMD of the L2-L4 and the femoral neck in the exercise group increased 2.0% (P > 0.05) and 6.8% (P < 0.05) and those in the control group decreased 2.3% (P < 0.05) and 1.5% (P > 0.05), respectively. In conclusion, aerobics combined with high-impact exercise at a moderate intensity was effective in offsetting the decline in BMD in osteopenic postmenopausal women.

Abstract:Objective:To master bone mineral density and correlation of perimenopausal and post‐perim‐enopausal women in university community ,to provide data for prevention osteoporosis .Methods:The age ,meno‐pause stations were inquired and height ,weight ,waistline ,hipline ,forearm length were metered in female from 40 to 60 in university community .The bone mineral density of wrist ,lumber ,hip were checked by dual x‐ray absorptiome‐try .The relationships were analyzed between BMD and age ,height ,weight ,BMI ,waistline ,hipline ,forearm length , menopause stations .Results :BMD decreased with age increasing .BMD of post‐menopause was lower than thats of menopause .There were positive correlations between BMD and height ,weight ,BMI ,waistline ,hipline ,forearm length ,but there were negative correlations between BMD and age ,menopause .Conclusions :BMD of post‐meno‐pause declined and they should improve the living habits and strengthen physical exercise to prevent OsteoPorosis .
Exercise effects on fitness and bone mineral density in early postmenopausal women: 1-year EFOPS results

Abstract:Purpose: To determine the effect of an intense exercise training on physical fitness, coronary heart disease (CHD), bone mineral density (BMD), and parameters related to quality of life in early postmenopausal women with osteopenia. Methods: Fifty-nine fully compliant women (55.1 +/- 3.4 yr) without any medication or illness affecting bone metabolism took part in intensive exercise training (>2 sessions per week); 41 women served as nontraining control. Both groups received calcium and vitamin D (cholecalciferol) up to a maximum of 1500 mg x d(-1) calcium and 500 IU x d(-1) vitamin D. Bone density of the lumbar spine and hip (DXA Hologic QDR 4500), maximum isometric and dynamic strength (Schnell M3, Schnell-Trainer), VO2max (ZAN 600), and quality of life parameters including vasomotor symptoms related to menopause were measured at baseline and after 14 months. Results: After 14 months, there were significant differences between exercise and control groups concerning changes of bone density (LS exercise: +1.3%, P < 0.001 vs control: -1.2%, P < 0.001), maximum isometric strength (exercise: +11 to +32% (P < 0.001) vs control: -1.1 to +3.9%), VO2max (exercise: +11% (P < 0.001) vs control: -4% (P < 0.05)), and quality of life parameters (e.g., lower back pain). Dynamic strength (1RM tests) at four exercises, which was assessed in the exercise group only, increased significantly by 15-43% (all P < 0.001). Conclusion: The intense exercise training program presented here was effective in improving strength, endurance, quality of life parameters, and even BMD in women in their critical early postmenopausal years.

Abstract:Background: Postmenopausal bone loss and decreased physical performance are commonly presented issues. This study aimed through systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the benefits of adding exercise to medicine/supplements in postmenopausal women. Methods: A systematic search was conducted of four electronic databases for articles published from inception to December 2023. Clinical controlled trials comparing the effect of additional exercise and medicine/supplements alone in postmenopausal women were included. The outcomes studied were bone mineral density (BMD) and physical performance. The quality of evidence was evaluated by the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). Results: Nineteen articles with 1249 participants were included in this study for systematic review and meta-analysis. The results showed that additional exercise was not associated with significantly improved BMD at the lumbar spine and hip joint compared with medicine/supplements only. However, results of subgroup analysis of exercise types showed a significant improvement in lumbar spine BMD by combining multiple types of exercise training (SMD = 0.37; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.01-0.72; p = .04). Furthermore, additional exercise significantly improved lower extremity muscle strength (Standard Mean Difference [SMD] = 1.77; 95% CI = 0.56-2.98; p = .004), Berg's Balance Scale (SMD = 0.72; 95% CI = 0.12-1.32; p = .02), Timed Up and Go (SMD = -1.07; 95% CI = -1.35--0.78; p < .001), fear of falling (SMD = 1.32; 95% CI = 0.89-1.75; p < .001), and the quality of life (SMD = 1.39; 95% CI = 0.74-2.05; p < .001). The quality level of the evidence was between low to very low. Conclusions: The significant value of the exercise was demonstrated through enhancing physical performance and quality of life. Moreover, combining various exercise training programs has shown a positive effect on BMD at the lumbar spine. Therefore, for postmenopausal women, combining exercise with medicine/supplements is recommended to further improve physical function and specific areas of BMD. (PROSPERO: CRD42023390633).

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a systemic bone metabolic disorder that is closely associated with a decrease in the level of estrogen. OBJECTIVE:To review the influence of estrogen on bone metabolism by exploring the role of estrogen in osteoblasts and osteoclasts. METHODS:A computer-based retrieval of Medline database and CNKI was performed by the first author to search relevant articles addressing the role of estrogen on osteoblasts and osteoclasts using the keywords of“estrogen, osteoporosis, bone metabolism, osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteogenesis, bone resorption”both in English and Chinese. Total y 216 articles were retrieved, and according to inclusion criteria, and 48 articles were final y retained. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Estrogen deficiency is associated with a gap between bone resorption and formation, characterized by the loss of bone mass and strength that leads to fragility fractures. Estrogen can regulate the levels of osteoblasts and osteoclasts, thereby inhibiting bone resorption, increasing bone formation, and maintaining bone metabolism.
Effects of exercise practice on the maintenance of radius bone mineral density in postmenopausal women

Abstract:The effect of exercise practice on the radius bone mineral density (BMD) was investigated on 480 women at the age of perimenopause and later. The BMD at the 1/3 distal site of the radius on a non-dominant hand was measured using the Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry method. The subjects were divided into group E with regular exercising and group C without regular exercising. The difference of mean radius BMD values was not statistically significant between groups E and C. Each of the groups E and C was further classified into a perimenopause group and groups with stratified postmenopausal years (postmenopausal years less than 5, less than 10 and more than 10). Then, the mean radius BMD value of the perimenopause subgroup was taken as 100% for each of the groups E and C, and the relative radius BMD values of subgroups were compared between groups E and C. The relative BMD values for the subgroup of postmenopausal years more than 10 were higher in E group than those in C group, while no difference was observed in below postmenopausal 10 years between the two groups. To clarify the BMD difference among exercise events, group E was further divided into the following three subgroups: the subgroup practising events which give high-impact to arm (HI group), such as tennis, ping-pong, golf and volleyball, the subgroup practising swimming (SW group), and the subgroup practising events which give low-impact to arm (LI group), such as walking, running, aerobic dance and light gymnastics. No significant differences were observed in BMD values among the above sports event-stratified subgroups when postmenopausal years were less than 10 years, but the relative BMD values for the subgroup of postmenopausal years more than 10 were higher in HI and LI group than those in control group. These results suggest the possibility that exercise practice suppresses a postmenopausal decline in bone density for preventing osteoporosis from developing.

Abstract:Osteoporosis is the most common bone metabolic disease with a very high morbidity, and women usually got a higher risk of osteoporosis than men. The high incidence rate of osteoporosis in women was mainly caused by (1) women having fewer skeletons and bone mass, (2) pregnancy consuming a large amount of calcium and other nutrients, and most importantly (3) the cease of estrogen secretion by ovaries after menopause. Along with ovarian aging, the follicle pool gradually declines and the oocyte quality reduced, accompanied with decline in serum estrogen. Estrogen deficiency plays an important role in the pathogenesis of postmenopausal osteoporosis; it is mainly a result of the recognition that estrogen regulates bone remodeling by modulating the production of cytokines and growth factors from bone marrow and bone cells. This review will summarize current knowledge concerning ovarian aging and postmenopause osteoporosis and also discuss clinical treatment and new ideas of drug development for osteoporosis.
Is there a role for exercise in the prevention of osteoporotic fractures?

Abstract:Objectives: To examine whether there is a role for exercise in improving bone mineral density (BMD), particularly in postmenopausal women. The effects of different types of exercise are examined together with their effects at selected skeletal sites. The role of activity in reducing falls and hip fractures will also be considered as well as the potentially negative effects of excessive exercise. Methods: A literature search over the past 20 years was conducted and landmark papers selected. Results: Certain types of exercise have been found to exert moderate benefits on BMD of the wrist, spine, and hip. Most studies do not detect a difference between the effects of endurance activities and strength training for BMD of the spine. It has been more difficult to isolate the optimal type of activity for effecting an osteogenic response at the hip, but recent evidence suggests that high impact work such as stepping and jumping may be effective at this site. The combination of hormone replacement therapy and exercise would appear to be more effective than either intervention on its own. Certain types of exercises have additional benefits, such as muscle strengthening, which could reduce the incidence of falls. Excessive exercise can lead to menstrual disturbances in female athletes and this in turn can cause bone loss, particularly from the spine. Conclusions: Exercise across the life span should be encouraged in order to maximise peak bone mass, reduce age related bone loss, and maintain muscle strength and balance. Although the effects of exercise on BMD later in life are small, epidemiological evidence suggests that being active can nearly halve the incidence of hip fractures in the older population. This effect is most probably multifactorial through the positive effects on bone, muscle strength, balance, and joint flexibility. Younger women should be aware of the dangers to the skeleton of menstrual disorders.
Effects of aerobic exercise on cardiorespiratory fitness and endothelial function in middle aged women

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the effects of aerobic exercise on cardiorespiratory fitness and endothelial func-tion in middle aged women and whether these effects are related to the estrogen levels.Methods:In this test,a total of 45 healthy women aged 45-55 years were divided into exercise group (n = 31,including 1 5 postmenopausal women)and control group (20 subjects).The exercise group conducted a 12-weeks aerobic exercise,while the con-trol group had no exercise intervention.Each subject had taken cardiopulmonary exercise testing before and after 12 week with PVO2 reflecting the cardiorespiratory fitness.Plasma ADMA and NOS levels were measured to estimate endothelial function,and changes in plasma estrogen levels were also detected.Results:After 12 weeks,PVO2 and plasma NOS levels were increased,and plasma ADMA levels were decreased in exercise group as compared with the control group (P <0.05).However,there were no significant differences between premenopausal and postmenopa-usal women (P >0.05 ).Pearson correlation analysis showed the degrees of improvement in PVO2 was positively correlated with NOS (r=0.339,P =0.023),and negatively with ADMA (r=0.333,P =0.025).Both PVO2 and NOS had no correlation to baseline estrogen levels.Conclusion:The aerobic exercise training can significantly im-prove cardiorespiratory fitness in healthy middle-aged women and improve endothelial function as well.The increa-ses in the cardiorespiratory fitness may be related to the improvement of endothelial function.The improvement of endothelial function is not dependent on the basic estrogen level,suggesting that premenopausal and postmenopausal women get the same benefit from exercise.

Abstract:Objective: Using RNA-sequencing technology to screen the effect of moderate-intensity treadmill exercise on the sensitive genes that affect bone mass in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of ovariectomized (OVX) rats. Methods: Three-month-old female Sprague-Dawley rats of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) grade were randomly divided into the sham operation (SHAM) group, OVX group, and OVX combined exercise (OVX + EX) group. The OVX + EX group performed moderate-intensity treadmill exercise for 17 weeks. Then, the body composition and bone mineral density (BMD) were measured, and the bone microstructure of the femur was observed. PBMCs were collected from the abdominal aorta, and the differential genes were analyzed by transcriptome sequencing to further screen sensitive genes. Results: (1) In the OVX group, the body weight and body fat content were significantly higher than in the SHAM group while the muscle content and BMD were significantly lower than the SHAM group. (2) The trabecular bone parameters in the OVX group were significantly lower than in the SHAM group, and they were significantly higher in the OVX + EX group than in the OVX group. When compared with the SHAM group, the microstructure of the distal femur trabecular in the OVX group was severely damaged, suggest that the morphological structure of trabecular bone is severely damaged, the number of trabecular bones is reduced, and the thickness becomes thinner, which lead to the widening of the trabecular bone space and the appearance of osteoporosis. The number and continuity of the trabecular bones were higher in the OVX + EX group than in the OVX group. (3) A Venn diagram showed that there were 58 common differential genes, and the differential genes were mainly enriched in the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Five sensitive genes were screened including CCL2, Nos3, Tgfb3, ITGb4, and LpL. The expression of CCL2, Nos3, and Tgfb3 genes was closely related to multiple bone parameters. Conclusion: Moderate-intensity treadmill exercise may improve the body composition and bone mass of the OVX group by upregulating CCL2 and other genes of the PBMC. The PBMCs in the peripheral blood can be a useful tool for monitoring the effect of exercise on bone health in postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Abstract:Physical activity or appropriate exercise prevents the development of osteoporosis. However, the exact mechanism remains unclear although it is well accepted that exercise or mechanical loading regulates the hormones, cytokines, signaling pathways, and noncoding RNAs in bone. Accumulating evidence has shown that bone is a highly vascularized tissue, and dysregulation of vasculature is associated with many bone diseases such as osteoporosis or osteoarthritis. In addition, exercise or mechanical loading regulates bone vascularization in bone microenvironment via the modulation of angiogenic mediators, which play a crucial role in maintaining skeletal health. This review discusses the effects of exercise and its underlying mechanisms for osteoporosis prevention, as well as an angiogenic and osteogenic coupling in response to exercise.

The effects of exercise and physical activity participation on bone mass and geometry in postmenopausal women: a systematic review of pQCT studies

Abstract:The cumulative risk of fracture for a postmenopausal woman over the age of 50 can reach up to 60%. Exercise has the potential to modify fracture risk in postmenopausal women through its effects on bone mass and geometry; however, these effects are not well characterized. To determine the effects of exercise on bone mass and geometry in postmenopausal women, we conducted a systematic review of the literature. We included all randomized controlled trials, cross-sectional studies, and prospective studies that used peripheral quantitative computed tomography to assess the effects of exercise on bone mass and geometry in this population. Exercise effects appear to be modest, site-specific, and preferentially influence cortical rather than trabecular components of bone. Exercise type also plays a role, with the most prominent mass and geometric changes being observed in response to high-impact loading exercise. Exercise appears to positively influence bone mass and geometry in postmenopausal women. However, further research is needed to determine the types and amounts of exercise that are necessary to optimize improvements in bone mass and geometry in postmenopausal women and determine whether or not these improvements are capable of preventing fractures.

Abstract:Bone is a tissue that is active throughout the lifespan, and its physiological activities, such as growth, development, absorption, and formation, are always ongoing. All types of stimulation that occur in sports play an important role in regulating the physiological activities of bone. Here, we track the latest research progress locally and abroad, summarize the recent, relevant research results, and systematically summarize the effects of different types of exercise on bone mass, bone strength and bone metabolism. We found that different types of exercise have different effects on bone health due to their unique technical characteristics. Oxidative stress is an important mechanism mediating the exercise regulation of bone homeostasis. Excessive high-intensity exercise does not benefit bone health but induces a high level of oxidative stress in the body, which has a negative impact on bone tissue. Regular moderate exercise can improve the body's antioxidant defense ability, inhibit an excessive oxidative stress response, promote the positive balance of bone metabolism, delay age-related bone loss and deterioration of bone microstructures and have a prevention and treatment effect on osteoporosis caused by many factors. Based on the above findings, we provide evidence for the role of exercise in the prevention and treatment of bone diseases. This study provides a systematic basis for clinicians and professionals to reasonably formulate exercise prescriptions and provides exercise guidance for patients and the general public. This study also provides a reference for follow-up research.

Abstract:Objective Investigate the influence of skeletal muscle shrinkage on osteoporosis in ovariectomy rats. Methods Forty adult female rats were randomly separated into 3 groups: control group, osteoporosis group, skeletal muscle shrinkage Ⅰ group and skeletal muscle shrinkageⅡgroup.Each group had10rats.The osteoporosis and skeletal muscle shrinkage groups’rats were undergonebilateral ovariectomy under general anaesthesia.4days later the study was carried on.Swimming was usedin skeletal muscle shrinkagegroupfor30minutes and6times per week.The control and osteoporosis groups were put into waterfor30minutes but no swimming.12weeks later,all the rats were sacrificed after collected venous blood and bones of lowerlimb.Theintensity and pathomorphology of boneswere detected.The blood was detected immediately.ResultsThe blood estrogen contents in female rats declined after ovariectomy.The bone structure andintensityloosed and declined.Skeletal muscle shrinkage couldlessenthese damages.ConclusionsStrengthenskeletal muscle shrinkage couldinhibit the bone absorption of osteoporosis,improve the bone intensity.Earlier the swimming exerciseswas done,better the bone absorption could be inhibited.
