Abstract:The Poisson induction and coinduction procedures are used to construct Banach Lie–Poisson spaces as well as related systems of integrals in involution. This general method applied to the Banach Lie–Poisson space of trace class operators leads to infinite Hamiltonian systems of k-diagonal trace class operators which have infinitely many integrals. The bidiagonal case is investigated in detail.
The Banach Poisson geometry of multi-diagonal Toda-like lattices

Abstract:The Banach Poisson geometry of multi-diagonal Hamiltonian systems having infinitely many integrals in involution is studied. It is shown that these systems can be considered as generalizing the semi-infinite Toda lattice which is an example of a bidiagonal system, a case to which special attention is given. The generic coadjoint orbits of the Banach Lie group of bidiagonal bounded operators are studied. It is shown that the infinite dimensional generalization of the Flaschka map is a momentum map. Action-angle variables for the Toda system are constructed.
Introduction to contact complete integrability

Abstract:Integrable Hamiltonian systems on symplectic manifolds have been well-studied. However, an intrinsic property of these kind of systems is that they can only live on even dimensional manifolds. To introduce a similar notion of integrability on odd dimensional manifolds, one needs another type of geometry: contact geometry. These lecture notes, aimed towards graduate students, serve as an introduction to this form of integrabilty. We will start by introducing the necessary concepts from contact geometry, which is the sister geometry of symplectic geometry. In the third chapter, we discuss the contact Hamiltonian vector field (which is similar to the standard Hamiltonian vector field) and the Jacobi bracket (which has similar dynamical properties as the Poisson bracket in the symplectic world). After this, we are able to introduce contact complete integrability: there exist (at least) two different notions of such integrability in the literature: one by Khesin & Tabachnikov (which has a more geometric nature) and one by Jovanovic & Jovanovic. We will show that both notions coincide. Subsequently, we will give an overview of the semi-local aspects of contact complete integrability, namely the behaviour of the dynamics near regular fibres (an Arnold-Liouville-like theorem by Jovanovic) and singular fibres (a local normal form as described by Miranda). Finally, we will introduce contact toric G-manifolds, which where classified by Lerman in 2003 (similar to the Delzant-classification of toric integrable systems). Throughout these notes, we will focus on the link with integrable Hamiltonian systems in symplectic geometry.

On the splitting of weak nearly cosymplectic manifolds

Abstract:Weak almost contact manifolds, i.e., the linear complex structure on the contact distribution is approximated by a nonsingular skew-symmetric tensor, defined by the author and R. Wolak (2022), allowed a new look at the theory of contact manifolds. This article studies the curvature and topology of new structures of this type, called the weak nearly cosymplectic structure and weak nearly Kähler structure. We find conditions under which weak nearly cosymplectic manifolds become Riemannian products and characterize 5-dimensional weak nearly cosymplectic manifolds. Our theorems generalize results by H. Endo (2005) and A. Nicola-G. Dileo-I. Yudin (2018) to the context of weak almost contact geometry.

Abstract:We introduce new finite-dimensional cohomologies on symplectic manifolds. Each exhibits Lefschetz decomposition and contains a unique harmonic representative within each class. Associated with each cohomology is a primitive cohomology defined purely on the space of primitive forms. We identify the dual currents of lagrangians and more generally coisotropic submanifolds with elements of a primitive cohomology, which dualizes to a homology on coisotropic chains.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed symplectic manifold of dimension $2n$ with non-ellipticity. We can define an almost Kähler structure on $M$ by using the given symplectic form. Hence, we have a $\G=\pi_1(M)$-invariant almost Kähler structure on the universal covering, $\ti M$, of $M$. Using Darboux coordinate charts, we globally deform the given almost Kähler structure on $\ti M$ off a Lebesgue measure zero subset to obtain a $\G$-invariant Lipschitz Kähler flat structure on $\ti M$ which is $\G$-homotopy equivalent to the given almost Kähler structure. Analogous to Teleman's $L^2$-Hodge decomposition on PL manifolds or Lipschitz Riemannian manifolds, we give a $L^2$-Hodge decomposition theorem on $\ti M$ with respect to the Lipschitz Kähler flat metric. Using an argument of Gromov, we give a vanishing theorem for $L^2$ harmonic $p$-forms, $p\not=n$ (resp. a non-vanishing theorem for $L^2$ harmonic $n$-forms) on $\ti M$, then the signed Euler characteristic satisfies $(-1)^n\chi(M)\geq0$ (resp. $(-1)^n\chi(M)>0$). Similarly, for any closed even dimensional Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$, we can construct a $\G$-invariant Lipschitz Kähler flat structure on the universal covering, $(\ti M, \ti g)$, of $(M, g)$ which is $\G$-homotopy equivalent to and quasi-isometric to the metric $\ti g$. As an application, using Gromov's method we show that the Chern-Hopf conjecture holds true in closed even dimensional Riemannian manifolds with nonpositive curvature (resp. strictly negative curvature), it gives a positive answer to a Yau's problem due to S. S. Chern and H. Hopf.

Abstract:Frobenius reciprocity asserts that induction from a subgroup and restriction to it are adjoint functors in categories of unitary G-modules. In the 1980s, Guillemin and Sternberg established a parallel property of Hamiltonian G-spaces, which (as we show) unfortunately fails to mirror the situation where more than one G-module "quantizes" a given Hamiltonian G-space. This paper offers evidence that the situation is remedied by working in the category of prequantum G-spaces, where this ambiguity disappears; there, we define induction and multiplicity spaces and establish Frobenius reciprocity as well as the "induction in stages" property.

Abstract:In this paper we generalize constructions of non-commutative integrable systems to the context of weakly Hamiltonian actions on Poisson manifolds. In particular we prove that abelian weakly Hamiltonian actions on symplectic manifolds split into Hamiltonian and non-Hamiltonian factors, and explore generalizations in the Poisson setting.

On cohomological invariants of complex and almost complex manifolds

Abstract:Given a compact complex manifold, we develop Hodge theory for the elliptic complex of differential forms defined by Bigolin in 1969 and recently referred as the Schweitzer complex. We exhibits several $L^2$ orthogonal decompositions of spaces of forms and prove a Hodge decomposition for harmonic forms on compact Kähler manifolds. Then we compute the cohomology of this complex on the small deformations of the complex structure of the Iwasawa manifold, showing that this cohomology is as powerful as Aeppli and Bott-Chern cohomology, in order to distinguish classes of complex structures. Finally, we partially extend the definition of this complex on almost complex manifolds, providing a new cohomological invariant on 1-forms which is finite dimensional when the manifold is compact.

Abstract:We propose a systematic approach to construct a new family of stochastic symplectic schemes for the strong approximation of the solution of stochastic Hamiltonian systems. Our approach is based both on B-series and generating functions. The proposed schemes are a generalization of the implicit midpoint rule, they require derivatives of the Hamiltonian functions of at most order two, and are constructed by defining a generating function. We construct some schemes with strong convergence order one and a half, and we illustrate numerically their long term performance.

Abstract:It is a remarkable fact that the integrability of a Poisson manifold to a symplectic groupoid depends only on the integrability of its cotangent Lie algebroid $A$: The source-simply connected Lie groupoid $G\rightrightarrows M$ integrating $A$ automatically acquires a multiplicative symplectic 2-form. More generally, a similar result holds for the integration of Lie bialgebroids to Poisson groupoids, as well as in the `quasi' settings of Dirac structures and quasi-Lie bialgebroids. In this article, we will place these results into a general context of Manin pairs $(\mathbb{E},A)$, thereby obtaining a simple geometric approach to these integration results. We also clarify the case where the groupoid $G$ integrating $A$ is not source-simply connected. Furthermore, we obtain a description of Hamiltonian spaces for Poisson groupoids and quasi-symplectic groupoids within this formalism.

Normal forms of hierarchies of integrable PDEs, Frobenius manifolds and Gromov - Witten invariants

Abstract:We present a project of classification of a certain class of bihamiltonian 1+1 PDEs depending on a small parameter. Our aim is to embed the theory of Gromov - Witten invariants of all genera into the theory of integrable systems. The project is focused at describing normal forms of the PDEs and their local bihamiltonian structures satisfying certain simple axioms. A Frobenius manifold or its degeneration is associated to every bihamiltonian structure of our type. The main result is a universal loop equation on the jet space of a semisimple Frobenius manifold that can be used for perturbative reconstruction of the integrable hierarchy. We show that first few terms of the perturbative expansion correctly reproduce the universal identities between intersection numbers of Gromov - Witten classes and their descendents.
Hamiltonian structure of isomonodromic deformation dynamics in linear systems of PDE's

Abstract:The Hamiltonian approach to isomonodromic deformation systems for generic rational covariant derivative operators on the Riemann sphere, having any matrix dimension $r$ and any number of isolated singularities of arbitrary Poincaré rank, is derived using the split classical rational $R$-matrix Poisson bracket structure on the dual space $L^*{\frak gl}(r)$ of the loop algebra $L{\frak gl}(r)$. Nonautonomous isomonodromic counterparts of isospectral systems are obtained by identifying the deformation parameters as Casimir elements on the phase space. These are shown to coincide with the higher Birkhoff invariants determining the local asymptotics near to irregular singular points, together with the pole loci. They appear as the negative power coefficients in the principal part of the Laurent expansion of the fundamental meromorphic differential on the associated spectral curve, while the corresponding dual spectral invariant Hamiltonians appear as the "mirror image" positive power terms in the analytic part. Infinitesimal isomonodromic deformations are generated by the sum of the Hamiltonian vector field and an explicit derivative vector field that is transversal to the symplectic foliation.

Abstract:This is a review of Banach Poisson manifolds with special emphasis on Banach-Lie-Poisson spaces. Unlike the finite-dimensional case, the existence of the (weak) symplectic leaves is not guaranteed even for coadjoint orbits in the predual of the associated Lie algebra. A significant part of the paper is hence devoted to examples of such coadjoint orbits. A special class of kidder orbits is isolated for which the classical Borel-Weil theorem extends to the Banach case by the use of reproducing kernels.
Almost Hermitian structures on moduli spaces of non-Abelian monopoles and applications to the topology of symplectic four-manifolds

Abstract:This work is a sequel to our previous monograph <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2010.15789" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2010.15789">arXiv:2010.15789</a> (to appear in AMS Memoirs), where we initiated our program to prove that the Bogomolov-Miyaoka-Yau inequality holds for closed, symplectic four-manifolds and, more generally, for closed, smooth four-manifolds with a Seiberg-Witten basic class. This inequality was first proved for compact, complex surfaces of general type by Miyaoka (1977) and Yau (1978). Our approach uses a version of Morse theory for a natural Hamiltonian, the square of the $L^2$ norm of the coupled spinors, for the circle action on the moduli space of non-Abelian monopoles over a closed four-manifold. It has the aim of proving the existence of a projectively anti-self-dual connection on a rank-two Hermitian vector bundle over a blow-up of the four-manifold, where the first Pontrjagin number of the vector bundle is negative and greater than or equal to minus the Euler characteristic of the blown-up four-manifold. Our Morse theory argument relies on positivity of virtual Morse-Bott indices for critical points of Hamiltonians for circle actions on complex analytic spaces (or real analytic spaces that, locally, are sufficiently well-approximated by complex analytic model spaces), as developed by the first author in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2206.14710" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.14710">arXiv:2206.14710</a>. In our application to the moduli space of non-Abelian monopoles, the critical points are fixed points of the circle action and thus represented by Seiberg-Witten monopoles.

Poisson geometry of the infinite Toda lattice

Abstract:Many important conservative systems have a non canonical Hamiltonian formulation in terms of Lie-Poisson brackets. For integrable systems, this is usually the first of two or more compatible brackets. With few notable exceptions, such as the Euler, Poisson-Vlasov, KdV, or sine-Gordon equations, for example, for infinite dimensional systems this Lie-Poisson bracket formulation is mostly formal. It is our belief that these formal approaches can be given a solid functional analytic underpinning. The present paper formulates such an approach for the infinite Toda lattice. It raises fundamental issues about the nature of coadjoint orbits for certain Banach Lie groups and it poses questions about the nature of the integrability of the Toda lattice in infinite dimensions by providing a functional analytic framework in which these problems can be rigorously formulated. The background of the present work is the paper by Odzijewicz and Ratiu [2003] where the theory of Banach Lie-Poisson spaces was developed. The paper is organized as follows. Section 2 recalls the minimal necessary material from the aforementioned paper necessary for this work. Section 3 introduces the Banach Lie group of upper bidiagonal bounded operators and discusses the Lie-Poisson structure on the predual of its Lie algebra, the Banach space of lower bidiagonal trace class operators. Abstract:A symplectic manifold (M,ω) is called (symplectically) uniruledif there is a nonzero genus zero GW invariant involving a point constraint. Weprove that symplectic uniruledness is invariant under symplectic blow-up andblow-down. This theorem follows from a general Relative/Absolute correspondencefor a symplectic manifold together with a symplectic submanifold. A directconsequence is that symplectic uniruledness is a symplectic birationalinvariant. Here we use Guillemin and Sternberg's notion of cobordism as thesymplectic analogue of the birational equivalence.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Let $(M,I,J,K,\Omega)$ be a compact HKT manifold, and let us denote with $\partial$ the conjugate Dolbeault operator with respect to I, $\partial_J:=J^{-1}\overline\partial J$, $\partial^\Lambda:=[\partial,\Lambda]$, where Λ is the adjoint of $L:=\Omega\wedge-$. Under suitable assumptions, we study Hodge theory for the complexes $(A^{\bullet,0},\partial,\partial_J)$ and $(A^{\bullet,0},\partial,\partial^\Lambda)$ showing a similar behavior to Kähler manifolds. In particular, several relations among the Laplacians, the spaces of harmonic forms and the associated cohomology groups, together with Hard Lefschetz properties, are proved. Moreover, we show that for a compact HKT $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{H})$-manifold, the differential graded algebra $(A^{\bullet,0},\partial)$ is formal and this will lead to an obstruction for the existence of an HKT $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{H})$ structure $(I,J,K,\Omega)$ on a compact complex manifold (M, I). Finally, balanced HKT structures on solvmanifolds are studied.

Abstract:A compact symplectic manifold $(M, \omega)$ is said to satisfy the hard-Lefschetz condition if it is possible to develop an analogue of Hodge theory for $(M, \omega)$. This loosely means that there is a notion of harmonicity of differential forms in $M$, depending on $\omega$ alone, such that every de Rham cohomology class in has a $\omega$-harmonic representative. In this article, we study two non-equivalent families of diagonal almost-abelian Lie algebras that admit a distinguished almost-Kähler structure and compute their cohomology explicitly. We show that they satisfy the hard-Lefschetz condition with respect to any left-invariant symplectic structure by exploiting an unforeseen connection with Kneser graphs. We also show that for some choice of parameters their associated simply connected, completely solvable Lie groups admit lattices, thereby constructing examples of almost-Kähler solvmanifolds satisfying the hard-Lefschetz condition, in such a way that their de Rham cohomology is fully known.
