Analysis on mission statement and criteria in China higher nursing education

Abstract:Objective: To discuss the mission statement in China higher nursing education.Methods: The mission statements and role of documents of 44 schools of nursing in universities or medical colleges have been examined on their internet websites and analyzed in content or purpose.Results: The format and content are highly variable,but there is a common vision of four integral roles,namely,emphasizing learning,advancement of knowledge especially in nursing skill and basic medical theory.Other frequent themes include responsibility and service to society.Only 1 school concerns about the theme of research.The longer of nursing education,the better of mission statement.Conclusion: Mission statement could enhance nursing value both for internal intension and external readers.
