Abstract:The simplest unified extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with bilinear R-Parity violation provides a predictive scheme for neutrino masses which can account for the observed atmospheric and solar neutrino anomalies. Despite the smallness of neutrino masses R-parity violation is observable at present and future high-energy colliders, providing an unambiguous cross-check of the model.
Charged lepton flavour violation from inverse seesaw with flavour and CP symmetries

Abstract:We study charged lepton flavour violation in a scenario in which light neutrino masses are generated via the inverse seesaw mechanism with 3+3 gauge singlet fermions, Ni and Sj, i,j=1,2,3. Lepton mixing is predicted with the help of the flavour symmetries Delta (3 n^2) and Delta (6 n^2) combined with CP. In the neutral lepton sector, the non-trivial flavour structure is only encoded in the Dirac neutrino Yukawa matrix (the coupling relating left-handed lepton doublets and gauge singlets Ni). Current experimental bounds on the processes mu -> e gamma, mu -> 3 e, mu-e conversion in nuclei and the tau lepton decays tau -> l gamma and tau -> 3 l, l=e, mu, do not constrain the considered parameter space of this scenario. Prospective limits on the decay mu -> 3 e and mu-e conversion in aluminium instead can markedly reduce the available parameter space. We also comment on the effects of the heavy sterile states on light neutrino masses and lepton mixing.

Abstract:The non-vanishing neutrino mass strongly hints the existence of right-handed neutrinos (RHNs), singlets of the standard model (SM). However, they are highly decoupled from the SM and difficult to probe. In this work, we consider the Majorana RHNs from the type-I seesaw mechanism may well mix with the heavy neutral lepton dwelling in certain vector-like lepton (VLL), thus acquiring a sizable electroweak charge. Such a simple scenario yields many interesting consequences, and the imprint on oblique corrections, well expected from the mass splitting between components of VLL by virtue of VLL-RHN mixing, is our focus here. We analytically calculate the Peskin-Takeuchi parameters S, T and U with full details, carefully treating the Majorana loop to obtain the self consistent expressions free of divergence. Then, we constrain on the VLL-RHN system which only gives a sizable $T$ parameter using the PDG-2021 data and CDF-II data, separately, by imposing $T\lesssim{\cal O}(0.1)$. It is found that for the RHN and VLL below the TeV scale, with a properly large mixing, stands in the frontier of the electroweak precision test such as W-boson mass.

Abstract:In this work, we explore a well motivated beyond the Standard Model scenario, namely, R-parity violating Supersymmetry, in the context of light neutrino masses and mixing. We assume that the R-parity is only broken by the lepton number violating bilinear term. We try to fit two non-zero neutrino mass square differences and three mixing angle values obtained from the global χ 2 analysis of neutrino oscillation data. We have also taken into account the updated data of the standard model (SM) Higgs mass and its coupling strengths with other SM particles from LHC Run-II along with low energy flavor violating constraints like rare b-hadron decays. We have used a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) analysis to constrain the new physics parameter space. While doing so, we ensure that all the existing collider constraints are duly taken into account. Through our analysis, we have derived the most stringent constraints possible to date with existing data on the 9 bilinear R-parity violating parameters along with μ and tan β . We further explore the possibility of explaining the anomalous muon (g - 2) measurement staying within the parameter space allowed by neutrino, Higgs and flavor data while satisfying the collider constraints as well. We find that there still remains a small sub-TeV parameter space where the required excess can be obtained.

Parity and Lepton Masses in the Left Right Symmetric Model

Abstract:Curiously in the minimal left right symmetric model, chiral symmetry that protects the electron's mass (m_e), due to parity (P) implies the vanishing of its neutrino mixing angles. We break this symmetry softly (or spontaneously if it is gauged) to generate the observed large neutrino mixing angles at the tree-level. The electron then acquires its mass on RGE running due to its neutrino's mixing, and in turn determines the B-L gauge symmetry breaking scale (v_R) to be $10^{10} GeV \lesssim v_R \leq 10^{15} GeV. $ If the muon's mass is also generated radiatively, the B-L breaking scale is $\sim 10^{14-15}$ GeV. Regardless of the high scale of v_R, this is a testable model since on RGE running and P breaking, a large strong CP phase ($\bar{\theta} >> 10^{-10}$) which depends logarithmically on $v_R$ is generated if there is $\mathcal{O}(1)$ CP violation in leptonic Yukawa couplings. Hence we expect that leptonic CP phases including the Dirac CP phase $\delta_{CP}$ of the PMNS matrix must be consistent with 0 or 180^o to within a degree, which can be verified or excluded by neutrino experiments such as DUNE and Hyper-Kamiokande. In lieu of P, if charge conjugation C is used, the same results follow. However with C and no P, axions would likely need to be added anyway, in which case there is no constraint on \delta_{CP}.

Inverse See-Saw Mechanism with $\mathbf{S}_{3}$ flavor symmetry

Abstract:The current neutrino experiments provide an opportunity for testing the inverse see-saw mechanism through charged lepton flavor violating processes and neutrinoless double beta decay. Motivated by this, in this paper we study the $\mathbf{S}_{3}\otimes \mathbf{Z}_{2}$ discrete symmetry in the $B-L$ gauge model where the active light neutrino mass matrix comes from the aforementioned mechanism. In this framework, the effect of complex vacuum expectation values of the Higgs doublets on the fermion masses is explored and, under certain assumptions on the Yukawa couplings, we find that the neutrino mixing is controlled by the Cobimaximal pattern, but a sizeable deviation from the charged lepton sector breaks the well known predictions on the atmospheric angle ($45^{\circ}$) and the Dirac CP-violating phase ($-90^{\circ}$). In addition, due to the presence of heavy neutrinos at the $TeV$ scale, charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) and neutrinoless double beta decay get notable contributions. Analytical formulae for these observables are obtained, and then a numerical calculation allows to fit quite well the lepton mixing for the normal and inverted hierarchies, however, the branching ratios decay values for CLFV disfavors the latter one. Along with this, the region of parameter space for the $m_{ee}$ effective neutrino mass lies below the GERDA bounds for both the normal and inverted hierarchies. On the other hand, with a particular benchmark, the quark mass matrices are found to have textures that allow to fit with great accuracy the CKM mixing matrix.

Abstract:The strategy of constraining the lepton flavor mixing from remnant CP symmetry is investigated in a rather general way. The neutrino mass matrix generally admits four remnant CP transformations which can be derived from the measured lepton mixing matrix in the charged lepton diagonal basis. Conversely, the lepton mixing matrix can be reconstructed from the postulated remnant CP transformations. All mixing angles and CP violating phases can be completely determined by the full set of remnant CP transformations or three of them. When one or two remnant CP transformations are preserved, the resulting lepton mixing matrix would depend on three real parameters or one real parameter respectively in addition to the parameters characterizing the remnant CP, and the concrete form of the mixing matrix is presented. The phenomenological predictions for the mixing parameters are discussed. The conditions leading to vanishing or maximal Dirac CP violation are studied.

Abstract:Recently, it was pointed out that the mixing phase in the Bs-Bsbar system is large, contrary to the expectations in the Standard Model as well as in minimal flavour violation models. The leptonic decay widths of the D_s meson are also found to be larger than expected. We show how a minimal set of four R-parity violating lambda-prime type couplings can explain both these anomalies. We also point out other phenomenological implications of such new physics.

Abstract:R-parity violating terms in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model are studied within a parametrization characterized by a single vacuum expectation value for the scalar components of the Y = -1/2 superfields. The benefits of this efficient parametrization are that it enables phenomenological analyses of R-parity violation without a priori assumptions (such as setting most R-parity violating terms to zero in an ad hoc way). The tree-level fermionic mass eigenstates are derived and shown to be particularly simple in this scheme, involving only the bilinear mu(i) Pi-parity violating terms. Suprisingly large values of these mu(i) are consistent with the experimantal constraints. This is outlined.

Abstract:We perform a detailed study of a variety of LHC signals in supersymmetric models where lepton number is promoted to an (approximate) U(1)_R symmetry. Such a symmetry has interesting implications for naturalness, as well as flavor- and CP-violation, among others. Interestingly, it makes large sneutrino vacuum expectation values phenomenologically viable, so that a slepton doublet can play the role of the down-type Higgs. As a result, (some of) the leptons and neutrinos are incorporated into the chargino and neutralino sectors. This leads to characteristic decay patterns that can be experimentally tested at the LHC. The corresponding collider phenomenology is largely determined by the new approximately conserved quantum number, which is itself closely tied to the presence of "leptonic R-parity violation". We find rather loose bounds on the first and second generation squarks, arising from a combination of suppressed production rates together with relatively small signal efficiencies of the current searches. Naturalness would indicate that such a framework should be discovered in the near future, perhaps through spectacular signals exhibiting the lepto-quark nature of the third generation squarks. The presence of fully visible decays, in addition to decay chains involving large missing energy (in the form of neutrinos) could give handles to access the details of the spectrum of new particles, if excesses over SM background were to be observed. The scale of neutrino masses is intimately tied to the source of U(1)_R breaking, thus opening a window into the R-breaking sector through neutrino physics. Further theoretical aspects of the model have been presented in a recent companion paper.

Abstract:We precisely derive the mass squared matrices for charged and neutral (CP-odd and CP-even) Higgs, as well as the mass matrices for neutrino-neutralino and charged lepton-chargino in the minimal R-parity violating supersymmetry with local U(1)(B-L) symmetry. In the framework the nonzero TeV scale vacuum expectations of right-handed sneutrinos induce the heavy mass of neutral U(1)(B-L) gauge bosons and result in relatively large mixing between the lightest CP-even Higgs and the right-handed sneutrinos when we include the one-loop corrections to the scalar potential. We numerically show that there is parameter space of the considered model to accommodate experimental data on the new ones of Higgs signal from the LHC and experimental observations on the neutrino oscillation simultaneously.
Lepton flavor violation in complex SUSY seesaw models with nearly tribimaximal mixing

Abstract:We survey the lepton flavor violation branching ratios Br(μ → eγ), Br(τ → μγ), and Br(τ → eγ) in mSUGRA for a broad class of lepton mass matrix textures that give nearly tribimaximal lepton mixing. Small neutrino masses are generated by the type-I seesaw mechanism with non-degenerate right-handed neutrino masses. The textures exhibit a hierarchical mass pattern and can be understood from flavor models giving rise to large leptonic mixing. We study the branching ratios for the most general CP-violating forms of the textures. It is demonstrated that the branching ratios can be enhanced by 2-3 orders of magnitude as compared to the CP-conserving case. The branching ratios exhibit, however, a strong dependence on the choice of the phases in the Lagrangian which affects the significance of flavor models. In particular, for general CP-phases, the lepton flavor violating rates appear to be essentially uncorrelated with the possible high-and low-energy lepton mixing parameters, such as the reactor angle.

Dissecting Lepton Number Violation in the Left-Right Symmetric Model: $0νββ$ decay, Møller scattering, and collider searches

Abstract:In the context of the left-right symmetric model, we study the interplay of neutrinoless double beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay, parity-violating Møller scattering, and high-energy colliders, resulting from the Yukawa interaction of the right-handed doubly-charged scalar to electrons, which could evade the severe constraints from charged lepton flavor violation. The $0\nu\beta\beta$ decay amplitude receives additional contributions from right-handed sterile neutrinos. The half-life, calculated in the effective field theory (EFT) framework, allows for an improved description of the contributions involving non-zero mixing between left- and right-handed $W$ bosons and those arising from exchanging a light right-handed neutrino. We find that the relative sensitivities between the low-energy (or high-precision) and high-energy experiments are affected by the left-right mixing. On the other hand, our results show how the interplay of collider and low-energy searches provides a manner to explore regions that are inaccessible to $0\nu\beta\beta$ decay experiments.

Lepton masses and mixing in a three-Higgs doublet model

Abstract:In the three-Higgs doublet model (3HDM) frame, we search for discrete flavour symmetries that give relations among the lepton masses and their mixing angles. We explore discreet non-Abelian groups of order less than 1035, treating neutrinos as Majorana or Dirac particles. Despite the free dynamic parameters available in the model, none of the groups fully predicts the lepton data. However, some of the scanned groups provide either the correct neutrino masses and mixing angles or the correct masses of the charged leptons. $\Delta(96)$ is the smallest group compatible with the experimental data of neutrino masses and PMNS mixing. $S_4$ is an approximate symmetry of Dirac neutrino mixing, with parameters staying about $3\sigma$ apart from the measured $\theta_{12}$, $\theta_{23}$, $\theta_{13}$.

Abstract:We calculate contributions to ${B}_{s}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{B}}_{s}$ mixing through tree-level sneutrino exchange in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with $R$-parity violation, including the next-to-leading-order QCD corrections. We compare our results with the updated bounds on the ${B}_{s}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{B}}_{s}$ mass difference reported by CDF collaborations and present new constraints on the relevant combinations of parameters of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with $R$-parity violation. Our results show that upper bound on the relevant combination of couplings of ${B}_{s}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{B}}_{s}$ mixing is of the order ${10}^{\ensuremath{-}9}$. We also calculate the ${B}_{d}^{0}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{B}}_{d}^{0}$ and ${K}^{0}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{K}}^{0}$ mass differences and show that the upper bounds on the relevant combinations of couplings are 2 and 4 orders of magnitude stronger than ones reported in the literatures, respectively. We also discuss the case of complex couplings and show that how the relevant combinations of couplings are constrained by the updated experiment data of ${B}_{s}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{B}}_{s}$, ${B}_{d}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{\overline{B}}_{d}$ mixing and time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry ${S}_{J/\ensuremath{\psi}{K}_{s}}$, and future possible observations of ${S}_{J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\phi}}$ at the Large Hadron Collider beauty experiment (LHCb), respectively.

Abstract:We examine the parameter space region of the inverse seesaw model that is consistent with neutrino oscillation data. We focus on the correlation between the current limits from the search of the $\mu\to e\gamma$ lepton flavor violating decay and the non-standard effects associated with the presence of new heavy neutrino states. Unlike what we would expect from an inverse seesaw model, we present a structure for the neutrinos mass matrices in which the rates of charged lepton flavor-violating processes are negligible. Additionally, we provide a model based on symmetries for such a scenario.

Abstract:We analyze the non-unitary effects in the linear seesaw mechanism using the current constraints and future sensitivity of the charged Lepton Flavor Violation (cLFV) processes. We perform a random scan confronting the non-unitary parameters with the limits to the cLFV processes. We show our results for the normal and inverted ordering of the oscillation data. We also discuss the equivalence of different parametrizations of the non-unitary mixing matrix and show our results in terms of the different parameterizations. We found that the stronger restrictions in the non-unitary parameter space come from rare muon decay searches.

Abstract:The observation of neutrino masses leads to the possibility of leptonic mixing and CP violation. One of the simplest extensions of the Standard Model giving rise to neutrino masses consists of the introduction of one righthanded neutrino field per generation, singlet of SU(2). In the context of the seesaw mechanism this leads to three light and three heavy neutrinos. The charged current interactions couple the charged leptons to both the light and the heavy physical neutrinos and leptonic CP violation may occur at low energies as well as at high energies giving rise to the possibility of leptogenesis. There are special scenarios where it is possible to establish a connection between CP violation at the two different scales, an interesting example is included in this work. Furthermore, we describe how the conjecture that all phenomena of CP violation present in nature could have a common origin can be realized in the framework of a further minimal extension of the Standard Model with CP broken through the phase of the vacuum expectation value of a complex Higgs singlet.
