Pseudo-analog Wireless Stereo Video Transmission in Hardware Acceleration

Abstract:Efficient and robust wireless video delivery is an enabling technology for various applications. The existing wireless video transmission scheme has the cliff effect and it cann't gracefully adapt to channel variations. In this paper, we introduce a pseudo-analog wireless video transmission improvements and design in the hardware. Comparing with the traditional transmission, the linear processing makes the decoder to translate different levels of channel noises into corresponding levels of video quality. The system is designed a L-shape chunk which is an adaptive block for power allocation. In the digital part, we designed a combination of CRC and Turbo mechanism, which improves the system's error correction capability. When the data error occurs in the digital, we choose to use the previous transmission power factor. We improve and optimize the SoftCast and implement it in hardware. What is more, the paper describes the hardware core module implementation and optimization, including softcast algorithm, IFFT/FFT algorithm and LLSE algorithm. And the hardware implementation is the use of relatively high degree of parallel pipeline, in order to improve system throughput. In addition, we integrate and test the system, using the addition and subtraction redundancy to solve the problem of rate mismatch. And we use ChipScope and PCIE interface for module and integration test. Finally, we calculate the average PSNR for performance analysis.
