MARKET INVESTIGATION AND ANALYSIS ON THE STATUS OF NUTRITIONAL LABELING OF CHILDREN'S FOOD

Abstract:[Objective] To investigated the current status of nutritional labeling of children's food and analyzed the prob-lems of nutritional labeling in Lanzhou,so as to provide a scientific basis for improving nutritional labeling of the children's food.[Methods] The status of nutritional labeling of children's foods from 4 categories in representative large and medium-sized supermarkets was investigated by using designed questionnaire referring to 'administration measure of nutritional labeling'.Moreover,the status were compared with the administration measure of nutritional labeling'.[Results] The total rate of nutri-tional labeling among children's food investigated was 86.31%.There was significant difference between different rates of nutri-ents labeling(χ2 = 27.962,P﹤0.05).The prominent problems were as follows:freely the nutriments labeled and lack of stan-dard,lack of nutrient reference values(NRV),no mark on the content or safe intake of non-nutritional substances(food ad-ditives,etc.),and not obvious of some production date and durability.[Conclusion] There are great difference between the nutritional labeling of Children's foods and standard,and the main problem was the freely labeling of children's foods.It point-ed out we should strengthen the implementation of 'administration measure of nutritional labeling',standard market administra-tion,supervise and urge the self-discipline awareness,popularize nutrition labeling knowledge in populace and superintendent as soon as possible,and make nutrition labeling as a convenient way for gaining nutrition knowledge and a reference for choos-ing food.
