A Performance Analysis of Composite Use of Clays Instead of Purple Knar Clays

Abstract:This article conducted a comparative analysis on the moisture,specific gravity,fineness,mobility,thixotropy,and PH of purple knar clay and substitutive clay mud.Through orthogonal experiment,the article studied the preferred plan of composite use of clays instead of purple knar clay.The results show that the rational composite use of Changbaishan kaoline,Suzhou clay,Longyan clay,and Northeast black mud can substitute purple knar clay.Under this experimental condition,the preferred plan is the composite plan which is composed of 13% Changbaishan kaoline,4% Longyan clay,1% Suzhou clay,and 3% Northeast black mud and the performance,such as the mud's mobility and thixotropy,is close to that of purple knar clay mud.Changbaishan kaoline influences the mud's mobility and thixotropy more obviously than other three clays.
