A Comparative Study on School Adjustment Between Migrant Children in Public Schools and Those in Migrant Worker Children's Schools

Abstract:The research compares the character of school adjustment of migrant children in public schools and migrant worker children's Schools. 1146 migrant children in Beijing complete the children's problem behaviors questionnaire,the teacher-student relationship questionnaire and the learning behavior inventory. The results show: (1) migrant children's school adjustment shows significant gender differences. Compared to girls,boys get higher internalizing problem behaviors and lower scores in teacher-student relationship and learning behavior;(2) there is significant interaction between grade and school types. (3) K-means cluster shows that the school adjustment of migrant children could be classified into three kinds: harmonious adjustment,general adjustment,and risky adjustment. The ratio of each kind is 27.9%,48.1%,24.0% respectively.the kinds of school adjustment of migrant children have significant difference between school types.
